People will complain about balance anyway even if you dont implement rated arenas and rankings etc. Its how people are, they whine as soon as they get their asses kicked. Imo, there should be both unrated and rated arenas so there are options for both hardcore PvPers and the more casual PvPers. Options have never hurt any1. Perfect balancing is not needed, just fairly balanced like any other game. If its not fairly balanced, not even TDM would be playable.
This is the best idea. Rating is such a great idea that they just completely ignore! and i dont understand why players are so hostile (no pun intended) towards having a greater amount of pvp in d3. Its silly really when you think about it. D2 has so much pvp to offer and so many players that still play, yet they are going to scrap that completely and have pve as the main, where the monsters NEVER get samey to fight, and the bosses NEVER use the same moves over and over. Complete failure on my part
Yes definitely rating is a good idea. It gives the high end PvPers more prestige when they would otherwise get none. Also it gives some kind of warning for new players not to get into a fight with x rating player, as they can see that he must be good to get to that rating. People are very anti-PvP in this game, but D2 had a large amount of PvP and this game hopefully will too. And if done correctly it could be extremely good PvP, considering the game style that Diablo is!
What I think would work is maybe have a 2 vs 2 death match where rating isn't incorporated for the casual gamers and then maybe have 3 vs 3 and 4 vs 4's have a rating system. To be honest I think PvP needs a rating system as it makes the game a little more competitive and I don't think that is a bad thing at all.
To be honest no matter what there will be some sort of system, if blizzard don't incorporate it the community will.
I also have a little question...
Do they have 2 systems for skills, I.E one for PvP and one for PvE? ( So they can change how a spells acts for PvP without damaging the PvE side of the spell).
