What do you guy's think if there was a PVP arena where items dropped upon death and the person who killed is the only person who can see the loot. Opinions and suggestions pertaining to players item dropping upon death?
I think this would attract a crap load of players. It would make PVP highly competitive but then again it would be extremely difficult to balance, etc. I also think blizzard would be too lazy to make something this difficult but i hope they prove me wrong. Hopefully it can be something to think about as a future game content update.
This is what I'm hoping they do for HC duels! It was the same for D2. If you duel as a HC character and die then the winner gets your loot!
On the other hand I think that your betting idea kicks ass and would love to see this implemented! I only think it would work with gold though because how will you bet an amy vs boots when one would be worth more than the other?

This is a huge negative because we all know how good Blizzard is when it comes to balancing something.
Overall I think it could be a great idea if Blizzard could just find a way to create a balanced pvp system that doesn't interfere with the PvE system. If they were able to come up with something solid I'd play this game until my eyes bled, but I think I remember them saying balancing is going to be done based solely on PvE.
In all reality, we really should not want Blizz to balance the classes for PVP. If anyone here played wow at all will understand what happens when PVE and PVP balance interferes with eachother. And if we are paying real cash for items, Blizz will hopefully not nerf/buff things over and over.
PVP could be made balanced by being barb vs barb or wd vs wd etc. Same classes have the same choices and will not need to be balanced or tweeked. Wagering would be so sweet and easy to make tournament brackets and fun PVP times. Weekly clan tournaments anyone??
Won't happen.
Blizzard already stated PvP wont be balanced, and thus pvp wouldn't be fair - hence betting or such a thing as item loss would cause way too much grief.
It would also encourage exploits much more than a simple win or lose would.

In Diablo 2 Classic I did loot some peoples rare stuffs by killing them. Was possible back then, althought I dont know in which patch and how exactly we did that. Killing someone twice and naked was involved I believe. Those were fun times in bloodmoore
I would hate that. I would never PvP if something like that got implemented. PvP is for fun and that's it. There's no fun in loosing items.
Do you fear death? The possibility of losing your items to a PvP death would make the fear of dying extremely horrifying. I would absolutely love that. Although I have a feeling a lot of poeple would leave their best stuff in the stash before going out to PvP.
Its weird because way back when diablo was announced they said they wanted to focus heavily on PvP. I guess we could only hope for that to come down the road, but knowing Blizzard now, it'll probably be in the first expansion. I just hope it does have some sort of grind feel like WoW. But PvP specific abilities that you earn would be pretty nice.
I don't particularly like this idea, maybe at the end of the match each person in the team that won, receives a couple of rare items. Plus if it was whoever killed him or her, it wouldn't adequately account for kill stealing. I.e if (person A) damages (enemy A) more than 90% of his health, then (person comes in and delivers the final blow, the items that would drop only drop for peron B since he got the kill. Therefore I think team based rewards wold be better.
I agree with this also because someone playing a support role could easily get screwed as their job could be to control and keep teammates safe while his friends damage.
Although the idea of loot through PVP is a very good idea.

Hopefully Blizz will just focus on getting the game out before the second coming.

All in all I like your idea
lawl.
This a wonderful idea. It has potential to become a profitable means to making gold for those who like to PvP and become good at it.

Both sides agree to have (randomly) one piece of their gear drop for the person who wins the Duel/match.
I think it would make things very interesting, also another cool idea would be for that item to have the defeated person's name on it, such as:
"So-and-so's Late Bracers of the Eagle"
That would be pretty funny.
