Why? Solo'd all of hardcore on my wizard and it was quite smooth.
On topic, I think that right now it's a bit early to make any judgements, since the patch changed a lot of things. Before 1.0.5. I felt DH is the absolute worst due to lack of passive damage reduction abilities and lack of passive DPS, which is very important for a range class in HC. However, in 1.0.5 they got it all, while other classes got significant nerfs to survivability, so it's hard to tell.
My gut feeling is that monks should be in the best shape right now, since their main passive (One With Everything) wasn't nerfed, which combined with aura allows them to get insane amounts of resistances that no one else can achieve after the patch. They still have tons of healing, great survivability tools, "cheat death" passive (which is huge by itself, I wish my wizard had it), nice escape ability, lots of ways to reduce incoming damage AND lots of ways to buff own DPS, if they want to.
I am about to make a new class and am getting sick of barb so I am wondering if there is a general consensus on the "best" hardcore class.
I do not play 24/7 and need a class that can function on low gear/income (not wizard) and is the all around the "best."
I realize this is mostly personal preference but from what I have gathered and played myself, some are better than others.
Discuss.
