Maybe this has been discussed before, but I wanted to ask. Will there be any sort of feature to escape from battle like save and exit or quick TP for HC players?
Wondering because if you've played beta, once you start the skeleton king fight, you are stuck in the room until he is dead, unless you can manage not to get hit for 10 second while casting recall. Seems kinda flawed for a person to attempt a higher difficulty boss and figure out they can't do it and pretty much have no choice but to die.
Lol thats not flawed at all. Dying to stronger bosses is part of the fun
Won't be saying that when your fighting a new inferno boss and get dropped to 10% hp in one hit and have no choice but to run away from the boss for 5 minutes, knowing your gonna lose your character once you stop running. Imo they should atleast add a 3 second cast recall for hc players.
Its called Hardcore for a reason. By playing hc your accept the risk that if you die, for whatever reason your character will be dead forever. It would seem inapropriate for implementation of an easy out.
OMG ABOUT TO DIE. <EASY OUT> HAH!
what would be the point in it being called hardcore?
Did you even play d2, because there was multiple ways to escape a boss.
1.run out of the area
2.TP
3.save and exit
4.unlimited rejuv and hp pot spam
5.and for pussies chicken bot
So I guess there was no HC in d2 because it supplied ways of survival.
I played D2 for a long time. Played HC, Died to lag. got over it.
-------------------------------
What your asking for is just a direct contradiction to the idea of hardcore.
By not including those "features" as you say, is blizzard not just optimizing the hardcore experience to how it should be; Maximum risk! - It doesnt seem very hardcore if i can just logout as soon as i think im going to die.
---
Every hc characters stats would be:
Deaths: 0 (obviously)
Killed: Last Boss - Inferno
Logouts: 6, 000, 000
I wasn't saying they need to add any of those features, I was listing several features d2 hc players had. It makes no sense to lock a character in a room with a boss that you could have no possible knowledge on ahead of time to know if your character is strong enough to defeat it. Think of fighting duriel your first time sc or hc, and take away tp's, pots, and save and exit, all the stuff leading to him is pretty easy, you hop in there hits you once knocks you to 40% hp, you would run around in circles trying not to get hit, and thats how every boss fight in d3 would be. Now what I said to add is a quicker recall of what's already in game, 3-5 second cast vs 10 would definitly still give you a chance at death, and thinking its not hc enough is a stupid response when a 1 damage arrow from a random skele will cancel the recall.
Think the recall time for hardcore should be the same as regular. Hardcore should have the exact same rules, except that one rule where you can only die once.
I agree it should be the same, it worked for d2, but it won't for d3. You never had any situations in d2 where you were locked in a room with no way out. Mark my words, if not on release but within a month after, they will have some sort of escape feature or lower cast on recall, their will simply be too many people raging about being locked in with no way out, and no option but to lose their char. I can gaurentee even the people disagreeing with me in this post, will change their minds once they get locked in a room with a nightmare+ boss.
On another note with someone else's post, I agree falling objects and walls should damage hc players, dunno why they removed it from even sc.
The thing is, you must do the game once in normal before hardcore, you will know when boss fights are incoming so be prepared. I also doubt Blizzard will do the same shit as Duriel which was ridiculously hard compared to previous mobs.
If you want to know in advance if a boss is really hard or how hard he is. Play softcore through and through first.
Hardcore should be designed like this, a full experience where you play by the game rules but a mistake is death and starting all over. Save and exit kills the hardcore experience (lags too though). Town portal are somewhat ok but still doesn't make the fight as epic as they should be.
Instant tp does kinda ruin it, but they will have to give some sort of escape option, and 10 seconds is nearly impossible to escape the skeleton king in normal, less any boss in nightmare+. People want hardcore to be so intense, then I want to hear it from one d2 player that didn't save and exit during a boss fight or tp to town, "I'm hardcore, I'd rather let my character die and lose all my shit" it doesn't happen, everyone has done it. These people talking on here how "hc" they are will be the ones hiding behind their follower at lvl 40 still in normal.
I have never used saved and exit or a tp to town to save a HC character. if the character died than it died. If the character died to an Act Boss than it was a good death.
I have also played many HC characters in mods which in many aspects made the game play much harder as well as playing up to players 127 (Monster damage scaled with the players setting).
if you are concerned about losing a character than HC might not be for you. The only issue I might have is lag issues since my main internet connection is not very stable (Ie speeds anywhere from .001 kbs - 7megs). I will have to see on how the connection is for me when I either get in the Beta or the starters edition. If the connection is bad then I will not buy the game since changing the interent is not an option for me at this time.

I will likely make for the first character an HC melee Witch Doctor that only uses normal attack and no other skills or follower.

On Strike and supporting Fallout 4 Mod Makers
Some fallout 4 mod makers have had their mods stolen and uploaded and downloaded on Bethesda's site for the Xbox One.
Melee witch doctor, only using normal attacks, might as well play runescape. Their would be nothing exciting about that all it would be the exact same thing every day, with no progression beyond hell difficulty. But whatever gets you off.

Durials room in D2? You were locked in there. There IS a way out in D3, a 5 second cast. Pull up your big girl panties and accept that if you choose to fight a boss, you might die. Also if you are a giant clam, just window out, right click D3 and exit.
You will all see, wait till nightmare+ is all i can say. I played hc in d2 for years i dont need to go sc, i agree with with how they have setup hc in d3 all the way except for this one major bug which they will change regardless of you "internet toughies" think. All the people in this topic will be the ones begging for it.
As for Duriels room, like i said before, yes you are locked in there, but you have instant TP's and save & exit to get out, in the same situation in D3, you can run around in circles for 5-20 min till you get sick of running, but the fact is all ur gonna think about is your gonna be losing this char with all the gear on him and there isnt shit you can do about it, because normal walk through you are forced to do in SC before HC, prepares you for none of the bosses in nightmare+.
Why dont Hardcore characters just have 2 or 3 lives?. So that if you decide to take on some boss and you are gonna die it wont matter the first time (aka easy out) because you have another life.
But that would be wrong right?
Hardcore is one life.
Softcore is to learn the game for these situations, I don't plan to go directly into hardcore. I plan to play softcore at least once 100% to get a feeling of how difficult things are and if I need to level up etc before a specific encounter/boss.
Or I just might play both in parallel when my memory is fresh.
That is what I want for hardcore, something hard that force you to be well prepared for everything that is coming your way. Losing a character is a part of Hardcore, there is no point in playing that if you fear it that much.
Big difference in having 2-3 lives vs having a reduced cast time on recall for a slight chance at survival, you would still need to out run / cc the boss to attempt to survive.
Whining little kids on here that want to seem super hc that will be bitching after release when they lose 20 chars to the same boss.
Just stopping by to inform that while there is no pause, ESC-leave game is still possible.. somewhat! Although the delay is 10 seconds so it's not really useful..
But basically you can click up leave game, and while the counter is ticking you are free to do anything and it will exit you instantly when the 10 seconds has passed, unless you cancel, wheather you are in combat or not.
Sooo, if you are really extreme you could "predict" when you might need to exit (10 seconds in advance of course) and use it that way.. again though, it's not really that viable and would be kinda obnoxious to deal with but it may have its uses.
do you mean by do anything like using skills? this will make Serenity "3sec and heal or 5sec" + inner sanctuary "8sec out of reach + 40% damage reduction" really useful
even with the long cooldowns they have which makes 2 of your slots useless 99% of the time, you will find alot of people using builds like that if viable.
Yes you can use spells and do whatever you like while the logout window is counting down as long as you don't press cancel. So yes, having "OH SHIT" buttons that protect you for the 10 seconds it takes to logout could prove useful in hardcore.
