Would be awesome tbh. And with more info like you should be able to klick on the chars to get a info page and could be divided in 2 ladders one for Dead chars and one for Live ones. something like how many Foes you have slaind and mini bosses + bosses etc and what type that killed you.
I personaly think that a ladder system could bring a lot of fun and give something to challange eatchother.
(sorry for any spelling errors and crapy sentences)
Wow, at first I thought that this thread is needless and the answer is already known, but actually there are people here who vote against it and think there won't be a Ladder in D3!
Ofcourse there will be. A much more in depth and interesting ladder for SC and HC toons. Cheers, lol!
Its more about the fact that the ladder will look like the LoD ladder in D2 quite fast, 200 level 60s in a row, it would be cool if something else defined your spot in the ladder after hitting level 60, something that isn't easy to abuse.
I like the idea of ladders. The D2 version was a lot of fun with resets. But the D3 version won't be the same.
The only way I think it would work is if rank was given by a number of factors, not just level alone.
Probably a combination of most things PVE, boss kills, minion kills/tallies etc etc, it could be a combination of a whole bunch of appropriate statistics. At least this way there would be some competition for the top spot continuously.
You could and I assume they will do the same for PVP separately seeing as there's a better focus on it in D3.
So I hope they do add one in, as long as they do it right.
I would like to see many diffrent "ladders" or more like statistics. Like timers on boss fights and highest dmg on spells and everything.
If it would get present in a nice way. It could be cool. About lvls I hope there will be atleast. specially when Diablo 3 is suppose to be much harder ? :>
I loved racing the ladder in hardcore and did it many times in 1.10+. Towards the end with the rampant botting (especially baal botting), it really lost its fun. However, considering D3 will work differently, I really don't see a ladder happening unless it tracks achievements or some inferno statistic as mentioned.
I think hardcore is one of the few areas where achievements simply wont be enough to show off your 'epeen'. A leaderboard of some kind is pretty much a must, whilst I don't necessarily agree that having # of inferno monsters killed is the best idea it's definitely a good idea.
Monsters killed doesn't work unless you want people to sit and clear Act 1 inferno. Maybe if they were weighted by difficulty, including bosses, but that opens a whole can of worms on relative difficulty.
The things about ladder are:
1. It wasn't really of much interest to many people after the early days of a new season. Most of the leaderboard were in "clans" - usually their names were XH_Fred or something where XH_ was a clan prefix - or working with large groups of friends. Often these people would take it in turns to play a toon 24/7 with supporting cast to make up 8 player games for max xp. Kinda left out the normal players, although they had a bit more of a chance in HC with deaths going on etc.
2. It was really not meant to be much more than a gimmick/incentive. When Blizz realised that the game was hacked to hell and they couldn't stop it, the solution was to split the game into 2 economies. One to start over and one to wash all the existing crap into.
If that's all they did then there was a danger that people just ignore the new economy rather than start over, so they realised that it needed incentives. So they came up with some - stuff like the:ladder and ladder-only runewords.
Pretty good idea, because then every time they wanted to swill the crap into the old economy they could do exactly that with a ladder reset.
Let's hope we don't end up with the same problem in D3.
Sooo.... there currently isn't a Ladder for this already? What the hell? YES, I want to see how the rest of the world is doing on HC and how I compare. Sheesh, I will be shocked if there is no such thing. I never played HCNL. When Ladder reset, I started right up with HCL and eventually dumped all my HCNL gear for HCL gear once enough farming was going. I dumped it for cheap too! Entire mule accounts for a HCL Shako and a T-god's lol! I was never super close to the top, but I've made it to 46 or so on the top 200 Necromancers.
Wow, no Ladder. Hmm. I guess if there's no ladder, not all is lost. At least then I know everything I collect will be for all-time!
