You are completely delusional if you think Blizzard's stance on a hardcore death for any reason will be anything other then "Tough luck, remake your character."
I can only ever have hardcore the way it is, but my internet can be a bitch sometimes, and we do sometimes have some stupidity in this household that decides it's a great idea to have as many electrical appliances running at the same time as possible, causing an outage in the process. Regardless of these factors however, I'll be trudging on as best I can, and just hope I don't die too often for these reasons.
But as for those that keep saying you're not hardcore enough if you would like a loophole in the rules to retrieve your character if it was lost for an unfair reason such as lag, then please, let's swap internet connections, because you're more hardcore than the rest of us and deserve the most sporadic connections out of all of us.
Duriel + Hardcore = DEATH... i dont know how many times that fucker took me out
Play by yourself if you want to go hc and your woried about laging. better chance of not dieing
After playing WoW for few years in hardcore progression guild I have seen quite a few of WTF moments when you wipe to things that are completely outside of your control.
Here a few examples.
1. Lag spikes. You lag and when you catch up to the server you are already dead.
2. System crashes. Same as above but worse.
3. Weird bugs. Boss gives out double damage or a mechanic that allows you to kill said boss bugs out somehow causing you to die. etc.
4. Server crashes.
5. And more.
In WoW Blizzard's policy was simple. Try again.
In Diablo's Hardcore mode it is not that simple because we are talking about loosing much more then 20 minutes (at the most) of invested time. I assume Blizz can go two different ways on it.
Be lenient to players that have died to weird reason in which case the hardcore mode will loose its status.
Be strict in which case it might be border line insane to play hardcore for months and die to something I mentioned above.
In either case there will be a lot of people, on both sides, crying and moaning about something that has happened in hardcore. The line Blizzard is trying to walk might be too thin to execute properly. In another words, I feel that Hardcore mode might suck due to one of the reasons listed above.
What do you guys think?
Hardcore players have dealt with things beyond their control... part of playing hardcore is playing in a fashion that is conducive to working around things like your net going out, occasionally it's out of your control, but for the most part you keep that in mind at all times via positioning and who you play with. When servers crash, all actions stop, in which case your character will not die... trust me.
Always play hardcore together after a certain level. Preferable with a friend who has a different provider and lives in a diff area. So that if one of you DC's for what ever reason the other can still finish of the demons and give you a change to stay alive
Sounds about right, you only have to live for 10 seconds until the client closes. Even lag and a disconnect doesn't have to mean you lose. It can be planned for and survived, just one more thing to take into account with your hardcore character.
