I ran the beta on a late 2009 model Macbook, the only thing i had to do was update my OSX up to 6.3 i think. I went ahead and upgraded it all the way to Lion. It ran pretty well on this old mac but i would much prefer a newer model. It has the bare minimum requirements to run the game but it ran smoothly.
i ran it on a new iMac ... its pretty good except for the fps that i can't get much higher than 30-35... but I'm hoping this was a beta issue.. saw many ppl complaining about these things
Has anyone been able to play the beta with a Macbook on the highest settings with a good frame rate (40-60fps)? If so which model/specs are you using?
Also, not looking for a MAC vs PC thread or laptop vs desktop.
None of them. Apple graphics drivers are inferior (fact) and you be paying double the money for half the effect; the same hardware wrapped in a pretty plastic wrapper with a false sense of security based not on the actual security of your OS but rather on the fact that your party is so small nobody wants to crash it.
I'm a programmer, hardware technician, and certified return-to-manufacture authorized repairman for Apple products. When your computer needs it's OS re-installed and you've lost the disk? Too bad. Your computer can only have version x y z cat dog turd of (essentially) the same OS and it isn't available anymore. Hard drive fails? Thanks for the %80 overhead profit on repair. Etc, etc. Apple is very literally a scam to get you to buy the same thing but for more money.
Deal with it. Macs are a bad investment designed to target people too lazy/inferior to do proper product research.

You know, the guy specifically said he didn't want a debate on Mac vs pc, so why the diatribe? If you don't like macs fine, don't comment, if you don't have input to his question, don't reply, it's as simple as that.
PS. They are inferior parts wrapped in brushed aluminum, not plastic.
PPS. Im an MCSE, CNE, and own nothing but macs because when I come home at the end of the day the last thing I want to do is look at Windows OS some more.
Edit: oh yeah, on topic. They're likely to discontinue the 17 inch MacBook pro soon, if you want one, I'd get one in the next 6 months.
My iMac runs the game far better than my MacBookPro, but then again my iMac has 2GB of video ram to my laptops 256MB (It's old).
Video cards are going to be the only thing on a Mac holding you back. The plus side is that even if it's a little slow, you can run Bootcamp and it will be perfect (which is what I do on my laptop).

It's no really diatribe when it's fact.
I'm also a software systems engineer.
Just putting it out there.
You want more for less? Buy a regular PC and run Windows for graphics, Linux for business.

Ha. Bagstone.

I would know, it's how I make a living.

Ignore the troll.
Assuming you mean Macbook Pro? You'll need to get either the 15" or the 17" that come with the AMD Radeon HD 6770M gpu.
Ha. Bagstone.
