So I badly need to upgrade my computer, I'm not going to post its specs in the fear of embarassing myself, but bottom line it needs to go. I want it to be able to run D3 really well of course, but also upcoming games which I'll probably get like Guild Wars 2.
I came across 2 different ones and since I don't know a lot about computers I thought I would get your guys opinion. So does anyone have any suggestions on which one is better for the price?
The Dell has a HD 6450, which is extremely weak, it's like a few steps up from on board graphics. The Alienware has a GTX 555, while better than the 6450 by a fair margin is still on the weak side. Both come with the same processor which is fine if you don't plan to overclock, both come with 8GB of DDR3 which is more than you need and both come with 1TB of storage which is also more than you'll need. If I had to pick between them the Alienware is the only choice due to the superior GPU, but honestly, you could build a much better machine for the same price if you know someone who could do it for you.
I just took a quick look at NewEgg (I'm from the UK but this seems popular with you Americans) and I specced out a fast build for around $1000 that would be much better than either, it would come with an i5 2500k which would allow for easy overclocking (it's not scary any more, they're designed to be overclocked), GTX 560 ti which is a fantastic GPU that's currently in the top 10 of available GPUs, 8GB of DDR3, Windows 7 64bit, Corsair 800W PSU, HAF case and a good Z68 Asus motherboard. All of these components are from top brands, I doubt the same can be said for either of those prebuilt systems.
If you're dead set against building your own, I'd look into http://www.cyberpowe...ega_Special_III, if you change the GPU to a GTX 560 Ti and add Windows 7 it comes to around the same price as the Alienware but it's better.

The question isn't why do I kill. The question is, why I don't kill everybody.
Awesome thank you very much for the help! I have a buddy that could help me build one so I might go that route, and it will be good to learn how to do it, really appreciate it :Thumbs Up:

You won't regret it, and it's really not that hard if you take it slow, read the instructions and ask Google for some advice while doing it. You will get a far better machine at the end of it and it will last you a lot longer.

1. Dell XPS 8300 Desktop

2. Alienware X51 Desktop

i'm choosing between these two due to the discount I get on them because of the professional association I'm in.
