So I'm upgrading my current computer from:
-AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5200+ 2.7GHz processor
-on an Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe motherboard
-2GB RAM
-600W power supply
TO
-AMD Phenom II x4 955 Black Edition processor
-Asus M4N98TD Evo motherboard (only board I could find that supports the processor and is SLI-ready)
-8GB Corsair Vengance RAM
-850W 80+ silver power supply
-nVidia GTX 560ti
My questions are:
First; are these parts going to work well together (i.e. do I have the right socket and motherboard and is it SLI-ready so I can put my 560ti in and possibly eventually get a second, if need be)?
Second; I currently have two 80mm fans in the case, one in the rear, and one on top. These are the only two fans I have at the moment (aside from my CPU fan which is http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835106102 ). Am I going to need more cooling after my upgrade?
Third; is there anything that you would suggest or change?
I just noticed, while proof reading this post, that the case supports up to 11" x 12" motherboards, and the one I intend to upgrade to is listed as 12" x 9.6", is this a problem? Or can I rotate the board if it doesn't fit one way?
This will be my first time ever installing parts in a computer myself (other than a power supply and a graphics card). If something I said sounds stupid, that's my excuse =P
I appreciate the help. Thank you much!

Haha. I wish you'd use the same thread for all your system questions. I swear you were looking at an i5 processor and dual 570s... It's going to come up later in the thread as it usually does, soooo....the i5 is a better processor, but the AMD certainly isn't a bad choice.

Yup, everything looks good and should work well together. Correct socket, SLI-ready...all good.

It's really hard to say without knowing what case you currently have. However, those two fans are exhaust fans (or at least they should be for proper ventilation), which means you don't have any intake fans. I'd get something to put into the bottom front of your case. I'm assuming your case has a place to screw in a fan there.
Third; is there anything that you would suggest or change?
That's a mighty big PSU for your setup, even with a SLI. 750 would be plenty there, but an 850 is fine.

What kind of case it is? Do you know the brand and model?

Lol...yea, I think I own half of page 1 of these boards.. I guess I make new threads so people don't say "read that thread already, and gave my advice", thus limiting the response I get.
Edit: After turning off my computer for the night I quickly realized that (duh) I can't rotate the motherboard because the I/O ports are all on a specific side...
I used the power supply calculator on asus.com to determine that if I wanted to run this setup in 2x SLI I would need an 850W psu...I just assumed it was accurate =P

Hehe makes sense.

Yeah you'll only be able to put the board in one way. The case accepts Standard ATX motherboards, so you'll be good.

Ah ok. For better or worse, it's ok. I usually check out reviews, as they usually show power consumption at max load. Granted, you'll probably never hit max load, but it's a good ceiling. http://images.anandt...h4239/36070.png
They show total power consumption for an i7-920 system (almost equal power consumption to what yours will be) with 560 Ti SLI at 496W. So you'd be fine with a good Corsair 750W PSU. An 850W won't be bad, it'll just be more than you really need right now.
Nice, so it looks like everything is a go! No more questions until I take on the real project...building a new computer from scratch. That won't happen until after the D3 announcement =P
Thanks much for your help, and for the power usage chart, that's a good thing to have.

I meant to link the case I have in the original post, here's the link:
