Hi, this is Saya Italian MVP for Diablo 3 and I'd like to post here my last suggestions for Diablo 3/ROS.
I hope you enjoy it because i think we need more variety in this game. There are many opportunities developers team need to consider.
PS: Please read it with patience, i know my English is not very good.
Since the Beginning, the forces of Light and Darkness have engaged in an eternal war: The Great Conflict, whose victor will rise from the apocalyptic ashes to hold sway over all creation. To this end, the Angels of the High Heavens adhere to strict militaristic disciplines.
Angels warriors strike at the enemies of Light with swords imbued with righteous wrath and justice. The Angels believe that only absolute discipline can properly restore order to the myriad realms, while the demonic denizens of the Burning Hells hold that absolute chaos is the true nature of all things.
The battles of the Great Conflict rage across both time and space, often infringing upon the very fabric of reality itself. From the Crystal Arch at the very heart of the High Heavens to the arcane Hellforge of the Underworld, the warriors of these eternal realms journey to wherever their timeless conflict carries them. The legendary deeds of the heroes of the realms beyond elicit both veneration and insight.
Despite the advent of humans has led to the emergence of the war of sin and then the idea that they could be the key to turn the conflict in favor of one or other faction, angels and demons clash today in order to surprise the enemy's defenses and pursue its intent.
The eternal battlefields, are often the scene of these raw conflicts, they are like an abyss that swallows voraciously with dark bodies and the blood of many who have fallen in battle. Nobody knows which monstrosities emerge from the dark depths of hell, just as no one knows the name of the heroes that heaven sends to end the threat.
But it is certain that one day, the armies of demons might decide to strike what Tyrael wanted to protect in order to create more friction in the council of the angels. The man cannot count on angel’s help, not all of them, many of them still harbor distrust of human nature.
Explanation of Event:
With random effect Nephalem engaged in combat in sanctuary (no rift), may be forced to deal with gathered demonic armies. As stated on the title should be a medium rare event with a frequency of 2-3 times a day per player.
Composition of an army could be something like this:
- 30 common monsters of different category. More melee and more ranged. Some fast, some slow and strong.
- 2/3 pack of Elite/Champion
- 1 Avatar of Evil
The Avatar is the general of demonic army. Could be of a dark color (like dark brown or something near black) with red shades of fire. It has features typical of standard monsters, but very large (equal to the last elite with avenger ability) and is slightly modified in appearance to be more terrifying. (for obvious reasons I could not add more to the diversification of the avatar sprite, but I wanted to give an idea of the color and size).
The defeat of Avatar of Evil could (not for sure) leave on the ground 1 RARE object among those listed below: Talismans.
Here are the talismans you can find after the defeat of the Avatar of Evil. Percentages on talismans are just indicative so pls, dont worry about numbers. They can be socketed inside the PARAGON SKILL’S BONUSES window, and so, they can be of four different types, related to the 4 paragon’s bonuses sub-windows: Base, Offense, Defense, Utility.
Item 1: Increase total bonus amount in primary offense statistic by (10-33% varies).
Item 2: Increase total bonus amount in vitality by (10-33%).
Item 3: Increase total bonus amount in movement speed by (10-33%) .
Item 4: Increase the amount of resource points bonus by (10-50%).
Item 5: Increase Attack Speed total bonus by (10-33%).
Item 6: Increase Cooldown Reduction total bonus by (10-33%).
Item 7: Increase Critical Hit Chance total bonus by (10-33%).
Item 8: Increase Critical Hit Damage total bonus by (10-33%).
Item 9: Increase Life total bonus by (10-33%)
Item 10: Increase Armor total bonus by (10-33%)
Item 11: Increase Resistances total bonus by (10-33%)
Item 12: Increase Life Regeneration total bonus by (10-50%).
Item 13: Adds (1-10%) to Area Damage Chance.
Item 14: Increase Cost Reduction total bonus by (10-33%).
Item 15: Increase Life on Hit total bonus by (10-50%).
Item 16: Increase Gold Find total bonus by (10-33%).
Talismans can be socketed in paragon bonus window. And it’s possible to use 4 of this talismans for every sub-famility of bonuses. For Example …. 3 to attack speed and 1 in Critical Chance, or 1 in every Offense Skill bonus. But I cant put 3 in Critical Chance and 3 in Critical Hit Damage, because we have 6 bonuses in same family bonuses.
So we can apply a total amount of 16 talismans; 4 In Base bonuses Window, 4 in Offense, 4 in Defense and 4 in utility
Killing an Avatar of Evil we find the following talisman (sorry for the image recycling and italian language ... but I hope you will understand the same ehehehehe)
We could apply it inside the related paragon’s window ability socket as following image showing:
Remember, only 3 talismans for every ability. They sum their bonuses to the total of bonus obtained with paragon’s point spent.
For Example: If I have spent 50 paragon points in Attack Speed, I’ve a bonus of 10%.
If I socket 3 talismans in attack speed with a sum bonus of (17+23+10=50) result will be 10% increased by a 50% bonus = 15%. (Not 60% ehehehehe).
Again, in addition to Talismans, when you kill and Avatar of Evil you will drop (for sure) an Attack Plan.
These plans contains detailed instructions about an upcoming battle that will take place on eternal battlefields. The demonic hordes will try to take possession of the territory in order to have a decisive advantage on enemy and launch a strong attack at the gates of paradise.
On the other hand, a band of heroes will defend the gates of heaven in order to fight and destroy forever the demons army.
The maps of the battle must have a symmetrical aspect not to favor any of two teams of attackers and defenders.
On sides of the map (or up and down) will be placed gates that will be destructible only killing the last demon / angel of the opposing army.
Nephalem Attackers and Nephalem defenders cannot hit each other.
The map will be populated in equal number of elite, champions and 3 Avatar per side.
Must be created damageable and killable angels warriors.
Purpose of this event will be to advance through the map by killing all the enemies of the opposite camp: demons or angels. And could me implemented with many of suggestions you could find in battleground wrote by my friend Edriel is in his post Here.
I know. Probably the concept of killable angels is a little bit strong …..
But if you look behind you in the Diablo story you will find examples of nephalem who believed demons and angels were just invaders and not friends.
Look at Uldyssan or Kulle. They are different examples but they are united by a common point of view: angels are not friends and must be fought as demons are.
On same table we have some nephalem attracted by demonic power. For example the cultists …..
We have many reason to believe not all humans are happy to stay on angel side
A little bit of history
The coming of the Great Conflict to the mortal realm is known as the Sin War.
Angels and Demons, camouflaged while traveling amongst men, attempted to lure mortals in their causes. The Demons knew that humans were much more attracted by the brutality instead of subtle coercion, so they started to terrorize humans threatening a submission.
The Angels fought to defend humanity but often using methods and their austere severe punishment came to be passed against those who sought to protect.
If the man was rarely witness the war between Angels and Demons about the great conflict; only a few people "enlightened" realized that supernatural beings were moving among men. Powerful mortals accepted the challenge of the Sin War and sided with Angels and Demons in these terrible battles.
NEW GAME MODE – FIELD BATTLE: War Plans (PvEvP)
The avatars of evil, if defeated, can leave on the ground the "war plans". These Plans allows who find them to take part in a clash that will take place in a symmetrical map, which does not give logistical advantages among the contenders.
The plans will be counted alongside fragments of blood and will not be stored in backpacks. Each plan allows participation in a BATTLE FIELD and access will be available directly from the mode menu of the game (in a box under the adventure mode). We could call it VERSUS BATTLEGROUND/BATTLEFIELD.
COMPOSITION OF BATTLEFIELD EVENT:
For each of these events will be selected:
- 4 players with negative karma (Concept that we will explain later) that fight against the Angels on the map, but will not be able to hit the demons and good karma players.
- 4 players with positive karma that will fight against the demons on the map, but cannot hit the angels and negative karma players.
So, on the battlefield you could find angels who will be killed: Elite, Champion, Avatar and of course the angels of low rank (the bulk of the army blue). To kill them you need to have negative karma.
The objective of the battle is to defeat the last soldier of the enemy army and head to the opponent gate, destroying it. The gate will become vulnerable only after the defeat of his last defender demon or angel.
Team who first manages to destroy the opponent gate, Wins.
- In this mode, you cannot hit members of the opposing team.
- Death in Hardcore also mean you loose your character.
Selection process of the two teams will have to consider the paragon level of participants, favoring the formation of teams with similar potential in a completely random way, unless you participate as a party, and in that case, the system will select a premade party for you.
Any disconnected players during the fight will be replaced by a copy of character driven by AI.
This must be able to work in party and possibly participate in support activities (resurrection just as an example).
The Kick will be disabled, you cannot kick a player to voluntarily call for a new one. A battlefield event is a major event, play it in the middle would be not fun.
Win a battlefield means your team will access to the fort protected by the destroyed gate. Inside you will find a treasure consisting of legendary items and reagents. In addition, the victory will also mean earn points in your line of karma. With that points you can progress through the ranks..
A defeat means the subtraction of points in your line of karma, and so, you could lose ranks.
A possible accidental disconnection subtract or add points to your account karma points according to the defeat or victory of the event. But you will not be able to get the material rewards consisting in legendary and reagents.
KARMA (POINT SYSTEM, CHOOSE YOUR SIDE)
The human race has in it roots of ancestors: Order and Chaos.
Thanks to this bivalence, angels and demons have tried several times to gain their favour.
Doing so man has known violence and war, but also acts of heroism and sacrifice.
And while some of them are elevated, rising in defense against the armies of demons, others have conspired against their own race, enthralled by the idea of power promised by evil forces.
Karma, indicates the attitude of a player to act in favor of the forces of good or evil. The indication of membership is specified in a separate screen of karma.
Collection of karma points does not have a limit, you can go beyond the maximum level and is used to create realm charts.
Belonging to a rank must be accompanied by a special and personalized portrait inspired by the kind of karma (as in the image above).
This is an example of rank related to positive karma: ( i've used 10 rank inspiring myself to angels chorus, but i already told is just a sample to introduce the argument).
There will be also a rank list related to negative karma, but it is easy to imagine how it could be made up. Ascend the ranks will be more complicated. Points can be earned but also lost.
This way, skill of players is important rather than their playing time.
- You can change your allignment, but you can't go negative or positive through zero if you lose points.
Karma charts, like for greater rifts, must report your position in official chart showing the portrait of the rank you reached in your line of karma.
Also first 10.000 player will be displayed in a discendent order by point of karma.
So we will have 2 different charts, one for bad karma and one for good karma.
Beyond fame, more karma means more rewards:
3 heaven set and heaven weapons trasmogrification.
At the third rank of the 10 available in the positive karma you gain the ability to permanently trasmogrify you armor pieces in set armor called "Lieutenant of heaven."
At the sixth rank of the 10 available in the positive karma you gain the ability to permanently trasmogrify your armor pieces in set armor called "heavenly Vanguard"
At the ninth rank of the 10 available in the positive karma you gain the ability to permanently trasmogrify your armor pieces in set armor called "Son of Light"
In the tenth rank, the highest, you can trasmogrify your weapons in the angel’s weapons.
3 Demonic set and Hell’s weapon trasmogrification.
At the third rank of the 10 available in the negative karma you gain the ability to permanently trasmogrify you armor pieces in set armor called “Hell’s Shadow”
At the sixth rank of the 10 available in the negative karma you gain the ability to permanently trasmogrify your armor pieces in set armor called “Black Assaulter”
At the ninth rank of the 10 available in the negative karma you gain the ability to permanently trasmogrify your armor pieces in set armor called “Son of Dark”
In the tenth rank, the highest, you can trasmogrify your weapons in the demon’s weapons.
The Karma system is applied to the entire account, and it is easy to predict how it can then be extended to guilds, which may provide guidance not only in words …
And who knows ... maybe one day this could lead to a real pvp system.
Wall of text and nice pictures, but i dont find it really interesting from gameplay perspective.
Army event: and how it differes from let's say a bounty ? You have to kill X mobs and the "boss" mob - how is that different from gameplay we got now and where's challenge in it.
Talismans - pretty much just simple stat increase - the thing that blizzard is trying to avoid at all costs, thats why they not implemented talent tree with talents like X% stat increase
Attack plans - what are the rules ? There are 2 teams who compete in who kills stuff faster i guess. Is there any prize for a winner ?
New game mode - new game mode based on items that u farm in army event and attack plans ? Doesn't make sense for me - why has to be it in new game mode ?. Its all over again the stuff that we got now - farm bounties for rift keys, then farm rifts for greater rifts
Karma - so you are trying to split players in 2 factions just for those war plans event ? It would have more sense if u can just queue for that battleground like event and system would assign you to one of the groups - no need to make those factions for that.
New events can be nice for sure, but tbh i would rather see some more options for late game character progression than new events at this stage.
I really appreciate your intervention in this post Green. So let me first thank you for that.
Ok, with this suggestions, i just introduced something you can consider an addition and not an exclusive difference from other features of the game.
So Army Event probably could result similar to bounties but i just tought to introduce this for 2 reasons: Introduce a new type of monster, make it drop the plan for something similar to a battleground (cause pvp is something near impossible).
Probably there are tons of way to implement this ... and let me tell you're welcome if you wanna help, expecially if you think this could be repetitive.
Attack plan makes you able to join the Field Battle (sort of Battleground). Prize consist in Karma System (but something other can be added, i'm glad if you want to add something, trust me), rank and points. I think it's a good idea cause in 20 years of experience in Diablo1/2/3 i've seen players busy with pvp. I've seen people created guilds with rules and guidelines and have fun/clashes .. expecially in Diablo 1 which probably was a very long played game thanks to this. So the Karma System is not just a Way to justify an Event .... but a try to introduce officially something i think always been part of Diablo ... it's specified in the story, many people saw it in the past and ask for it now. Probably you wont like it, if you wanna help, you're welcome. Best ideas born form confrontation.

I know Krypto, expecially in our forum, in Italy, we often see players opening thread just complaining about flat gameplay.
What I and Edriel are trying to do is to give a possible End-game system to this game.
Try to imagine a battleground system like the Edriel's one with my Karma System. A way to introduce some sort of PvEvP which can scale, one day, in somethign we know was very important in Diablo 1/2: clan wars.
