Harringtons is dead in Greater Rifts cause there is nothing to click..no chests, rocks or bodies. Wondering what will people use in there? Obv Witching hour is the answer, but that's hard to come by, so what's your second option?
Witching hour > Hellcat > Fleeting strap would be the obvious answers for belts alone. Captain crimson belt with boots or legs would be another. Tal rashas for wizards suddenly becomes a lot better if you've not got access to a witching hour, as you can go with belt/chest/helm rather than neck.
Tgods for lightning, barb specific belts for the harder rifts for barbs, possibly the slow belt for WD's, the AOE confuse belt is a good CC, angel hair braids new prop is kind of cool, SoK for FoK DH's, hell even not for FoK DH's just because of it's nice new prop.. list goes on.
Good change imo. Harringtons is super OP, and still will be, but now other belts at least have a chance because of GR's.
Just remembered, Vigilante belt will have CDR now. That'll become the go-to for a *TON* of builds, as it opens you up to not wasting CDR on high-value slots like rings/necks/weapons
Really, once you get beyond level 30 on Greater Rifts the times of "let's go full damage and neglect all our toughness" are over. WH is a nice option for speeding through rifts that you can easily clear (sub-30 for those who're farming T6 right now, and maybe sub-40 later on when people have figured out most optimal group compositions). But once you get to the state where you're pushing the boundaries - and with gear right now that'll be the 32+ rifts - you really want some toughness at first. No reason to give up on String of Ears that easily.

Well, pushing the boundaries will be just as much about keeping up the speed as it will be about survival, with the time limits. You'll have to find a balance... personally I still think toughness will be neglected a bit in favor of extreme focus on avoidance when it comes to pushing the highest boundaries... eventually, you're just going to need more damage to make times, and there's going to be a point where it can't come from anywhere else but reducing your toughness.

Thank god someone else sees that the glass cannon days are numbed at higher rifts. No more ignoring toughness stat people.

Nope the higher lvl stuff will kill you in one shot as most are geared now and it really hurts your time a LOT.
I 'm watching WDGR stream(Streamerhouse). Now GR-LVL68 and everything 1hit even Rift Boss... So much for toughness...
Looks like he can rush to GRLVL100 easily.
Hes the king of using exploits, of course hes not 1 shotting everythign on LVL68 on a 70 game, its a lvl1 game. You would need about 20mil base sheet dps to 1 shot a pack on lvl30 as a jade doc lol

Character level 1 rifts, afaik.
nope. lvl70 WD
Level 1 rift, not character. You know... join a game with a level 1 character?
It's the same shit people did to exploit RGs for blood shards back when Kadala got buffed. It will get fixed.

I think that any item should be viable in Greater Rifts even though I really am not a big fan of Harrington's. I'm just not a big fan of items that only work in parts of the game. It kinda violates the general principle of a game like this.

I feel exactly the same way about Harrington's. Useless is something that only functions so conditionally. This belt won't help you against Malthael. This belt won't help you unless there's a body/chest in your immediate area. It strikes me as fools gold. As a matter of fact, I wish they'd shit-can this silly idea regarding items interacting with the environment. It sounds clever, but strikes me as nothing less than a pain in the asshole.
Harringtons not working in rifts is fine. It's a far too big boost depending on what map you get. Battlefields? Have fun clearing everything with 130% more dmg cos full uptime. Get one that's mostly empty? GG, failed timer.
Harrington's is one of my favorite items, I hope they don't change it. I'm completely fine with it not really functioning in greater rifts, it would work against the idea of greater rifts being all about killing things/beating the time trial and not looting. There are a number of other items that you don't wear at all times - immunity necks, the nemesis bracers (if they're not well rolled otherwise or don't conflict with a set you want)... if you want to have interesting legendary bonus effects its just going to happen. I've carried a hellcat belt in my inventory for a long time to have a replacement option on bosses.
It is still one of the best items for farming specific areas of the game. They just won't work on GRs in particular.
Greater Rifts aren't the be-all-end-all place for hunting items, or the only place to farm after 2.1 hits, it's just a place for you to test your character to see how powerful he is compared to other people.
It's good that they took this approach, because it was either this or nerf Harrington's (or have it be mandatory for everyone), similar to what's currently happening to The Furnace being mandatory for higher levels - which might lead to it being nerfed in the near future.

First option will be String of Ears.

Character level 1 rifts, afaik.
If you don't think it's a bug that they are clearing everything in 1 hit... well then.. carry on...
The rift is level 1, he is level 70.
It's a bug that'll be fixed very soon, followed by a leaderboard wipe:

Now back to topic please.

IMO...they should just redo Harrington's affix.
