But no regrets here: we wouldn't have known how bad the AH was for the health of the game if we've never had it. Sometimes you gotta experience darkness to appreciate the light.

I shall add a thumbs up. Finally the REAL Prime Evil is laid to rest.
I know I woulnd't have experienced nearly half of the builds I did on all of my characters if it wasn't for you. I wouldn't have geared up quickly for a new patch after taking long breaks from D3. I wouldn't have found "great deals" at bidding that made someone feel like they just found that one forgotten trading thread that everyone missed with that awesome item back in D2/D2JSP days...
You had a dark side, though. You showed people how they are not as hardcore as they think... you didn't account for a much needed item sink, so players with decent gear quickly drove things out of control by suppplying an endless stream of "above-average" items for the cheapest prices...
And your biggest flaw - you limited developers' actions when it came to rebalancing gear, changing affixes and skills, and tweaking drop rates... they were always afraid of the backlash or breaking the game's economy beyong repair... that was the worst...
Sorry buddy, you had to go... it was for the best...
Goodbye AH, bots, 3rd party websites, d2jsp, crap, etc...
(some minor forms of the above will still persist though...)
Just wait, "Selling 3x legendaries of your stat preference $5"
Can see it now, it isn't going to be hard to sell legendaries, me and a few friends are already planning a way to gear up our toons, 4 wizards play, all good wiz legendaries go to one, then we swap to monk etc etc....

I'd still pick the AH over no-trading-at-all any day!
The AH was a cancer.
I always loved trading in ARPG's. I really did. Hustling your way from a blank account to riches.
I'm really digging the new "economy". That I no longer look at items in terms of gold/trade value and I approach loot drops with only one consideration; How much value does this item have for me and my characters?
I posted a poll-thread here last year titled "Should the AH's be taken down?" Some called me crazy, but I would never have imagined when I posted that poll that a year later, the AH's would in fact be dismantled.
So....to the AH's and the influential stranglehold it had on the Diablo players experience....
RIP AH you will be missed, worst decision ever by Blizzard.
I do not think the AH will be gone long, However i do believe a revamped version that only allows crafting materials and gems, recipes should be back.
they might remove the real money aspect and make it about the game and not real life as much
they just dont want people with stock piles of gold to be able to click a few buttons after hitting 70 and buy close to the best legendary weapons which of course people do.
Like i said earlier on mmo-c, the only reason i'm going to miss the AH is because i made a lot of money out of it (for a game), beside that i don't really care, i don't remembe the last time i bought something from it, it was some kind of dye. Anyway, most of my time in D3 i've been playing with my wife and friends so with or without the AH i don't see how things are going to change for me.
ps: One thing i noticed last night, my wife ran out of mats on our low lvl toon and the AH was just perfect for that, so maybe it'l be missed for those small things..
if the game we have now would have been the launch game, i think the AH would have a different story. if any at all. Since loot 2.0 the only thing i used the AH for was selling old items and gems. I have replaced half of my gear from finds or crafting. way better game now.
I think the game will really be healthier without the AH. The only thin I will miss is making some quick gold for items I will never use. But I guess that's not really a huge deal.
I am currently not a fan of how difficult it is to trade items with people and do miss the AH for that purpose.
Also, gearing up my followers that use a different main stat that I do is proving incredibly obnoxious due to smart loot.
While I definitely approve of loot 2.0 and agree that it’s far and away better than loot 1.0, being able to pay gold for some Barbarian’s yellow rings/necklaces he doesn’t care for so that my Templar can keep up with my non Barb classes more easily wouldn’t be frowned upon.
Definitely never want to see the return of the RMAH.

Next step would be to add some competition to the game. To put all those self-found items to good use, Lets hope thats coming with the ladders.

It is a good day.
But yeah AH can burn in hell. Diablo can have it.
