Just kill and loot. But in PtR I found I got more lucky in the low density areas and from trash mobs at that.
You're not doing anyone any favors here. Stop spreading misinformation.
What I am not spreading misinformation. My experience has been that way. It might not be that way for you. Just play the game, The whole game you can farm for loot and legendaries can drop from anything
Hinting that legendaries drop more often in low density zones. I'd like this. First kill bosses drop them the most. Then elite packs. Then named mobs. Then barrels and chests. Finally the lowest % is trash mobs.
But most often your legendaries will be found from trash mobs and barrels, due to sheer numbers. Sheer numbers count; that's why you should farm high density zones. Thats the long and short of it.
Can you back that up with actual numbers or is that only what you believe?
I've said all that needs to be said. He asked where to go for legendaries, and I answered it "High density zones." If you want to go somewhere else, go somewhere else. I wash my hands of this thread and the people questioning a sound, rational argument.
I've gotten 3 Legendaries in a row in about 1 hour or so playtime yesterday from random chests and jars on Kulle's Temple yesterday (while poor Dae got like none ). Before that I was farming areas like Weeping Hollow and Fields of Misery, blowing up hundreds of monsters in a row, and didn't get anything for about 3 hours.
So yeah, I think it's gonna take some time and some experienced theorycrafters before we can actually say for sure "this area is 5% better than the others", or anything like it.
Play the game the way you want to as long as you are having fun doing it. If you want to do runs then be it. If you want to play full acts then do that. Legendaries will drop and if none drop for about 2 hours your chance for one to drop increases until one drops for you. I do not see that much difference in the numbers of monsters in the high density zones and most of the other zones. Not counting some of the sparse holes, caves, houses. Yes the numbers a bit higher but I just do not see a huge difference in it. The difference was greater on older patches and also on the older patches of PTR.
The game is RNG so at times you will be getting quite a few drops and other times you feel cursed and that you might think you need to sacrifice a virgin to the RNG gods to be back on good terms with the god.
I played with a couple of guild mates last night in the later stages of Act 1 on Torment 2, Since this was the first time playing since the patch going live since it took time for me to download the patch. We played for about 2 + hours in a casual manner and quite a few legendaries dropped and also a couple of set plans dropped for me. 1 legendary I liked was a Bracer that has Champs spawning when clicking on a Shrine and that spawned a funny moment when of the players stated where the heck did that come from. None of them dropped in zones what people call high level zones. I only got blues from the Butcher and so did the rest of my friends.

I really like how they seem to have made Diablo where one single spot isn't vastly superior to just playing the game from start to finish. I like to see the entire game, to do the quest, to think that I am some sort of slayer that kills stuff like a champ, and still be rewarded the same as someone who prefers a high density farm route going from waypoint to waypoint.

I was just wondering why none of your posts in this thread are an answer to the question asked by the thread creator. I mean really, why waste your own and his time like this?
I did answer play whichever way he wants to, all areas are good to get items, in my opinion there is no best place to farm. Play the game and the Legendaries will drop.
The game is not meant to farm one place for gear.
I was not wasting time. This is a forum where we discuss things.
