Such a small change, such a huge impact. It means reforging and crafting is not limited to your bankroll, but to how many items you farmed and salvaged. This is an awesome change in my opinion.
We already know that there is no material that makes sense of stacking up prior to the expansion, and especially no gems since Marquise/Imperial drop in RoS. So, it really seems that besides a few good starter items and paragon levels there's nothing that'll transfer over to RoS anymore. And it also means that it doesn't make a huge difference if you bring 50 million gold or 5 billion gold into RoS (the latter only means you can enchant the same item more often, whereas people with fewer money should stop reforging after some attempts).
Anyone see if I missed something? I'm really relieved that they changed this...
We're currently doing some tuning passes on crafting costs and crafting material drop rates. As I pointed out in thisthread, there's a chicken and egg aspect to crafting and resources. Crafting will need to be tuned anytime item drop rates are adjusted, so it's often in a state of evaluation and correction while we're in beta.
Oh... what a pity. I thought, they would just let you buy one item from a vendor an then it´s gone. Time to clean up my stash. Good bye white belts ...
i would still keep the belts, as they are bought before the "special" ID from vendor sold is added, they should still salvage ^^

Good change, guess that means I'll be picking up everything. But instead of dropping more or less items they should just net us more crafting mats per salvaged item.

I think it's actually okay if we have to gather an inventory full of items to do 10-20 reforgements. I have to say though that crafting costs in general are too high, especially since gambling is back in the game and so cheap, but I see that's already been addressed, as you can read in Jaetch's amazing summary of blacksmithing feedback. So... reduce crafting costs, and material yielded by items should be fine.
I actually picked up everything in beta and had more than enough rare materials, just Arcane Dust was a problem. I did a whole lot of reforging and even some crafting (wizard hats).
It doesn't really matter. Forgotten Souls are almost always going to be the bottleneck. You can always farm up the blue/white/yellow mats you need after you find the legendary to disenchant.

Oh yes they are.

or just let rares salvage into a chance of magic items and magic materials, lets say 0-5 for whites and 0-2 for magic.
