They added effects to weapons but why not effects to the unique armor? Enchanted items could also have standard effects based on the type of elemental resistance it has like weapons with elemental damage.
And I think they also need to make unique items only able to have its unique appearance and not be able to be transmoged. So the special effect is unique to each item.
This spamming gold selling item farming Chinese asshole is exactly why, even though I want to trade....exactly why I'll be happy when BoA shuts 'em down. Without the AH's, these fucking bottom-feeding scumbags will be entering every public game en-mass.
As far as the OP topic; I'm not sure that particle effects need to be over the top like that. On a weapon, sure. But if every item had these particle effects, our chars would look like something out of a Disney cartoon.
I agree with the op to degree here. I want some unique visual for full sets. I mean come on that was one of the most awesome things in D2. You find the last piece of the set... equip... and BOOM YOU GLOW. You're a fucking GOD, you have radiant gold glowing around your body. What's with the lack of that in this game?

I wouldn't mind this kind of thing, in fact, I do think it would be better suited in Loot 2.0, since it'll be harder to put full sets together. But I really don't think it's super important in the short term. Let them get the core gameplay worked out, then they can focus on more Quality of Life stuff like this.

ImmortalSol mentioned this very thing in, like, two or three other threads.
Apparently, he or she isn't fond of Transmogrification for legendaries and sets, as he or she believes they should have their own unique appearance kept. In principle, I agree...however, when they're unchangeable, you get the "clown suits" that were shown in the Blizzcon slide.
What ImmortalSol isn't getting here is that this game is a fantasy. And as a fantasy, certain creative license can be taken. Like the Mystic being able to make gear look different. It's a spell! Spells can do anything! Use your imagination! :-D
In a similar way as shared Paragon Levels, the expansion almost makes "the player" part of the action, as their characters are all effected by "the player's" Paragon Level, as opposed to the characters' own individual Paragon Levels. Thus, as long as "the player" finds particular legendaries, "the player's" Mystic can enchant any one of "the player's" items to look any other item "the player" has found and/or identified.
As I said, I agree with the concept...it'd be nice if unique items' appearances were all cool and cohesive enough that people didn't want to change them, but tons of people want to change them without sacrificing their characters' power.
ImmortalSol...if you have issue with unique items' appearances, don't Transmog. Simple as that. Make a fashion statement. That's not a dig on you, I'm not trying to be immature, I'm being serious. If you feel unique items' appearances are special and shouldn't be changed, don't change them. It's an option.
Maybe 'entering public games with people that use transmog devalues his gear in his eyes'
Oh great now you will get him going.... again.
Back to topic I am all for super glow awesome visual effects for completed sets. As for extra glowing per piece I thinks that’s overdoing it, you would just get a mish mash of so many colours it would probably look awful. Unless you’re playing on a 70 inch screen I doubt you could even notice each individual piece properly.

But its the way he likes to play the game and its clearly the most satisfying so everyone else should have to conform to his ideas! (epic sarcasm)
How can something be optional in one regard and there can be no options regarding other systems?
On topic: I would love to see a full set effect of some kind, including particle effects (they could be dark on certain sets to avoid looking too "Disney" but I am all for allowing someone to change the look of their gear to achieve a look that makes them feel unique and powerful, until it comes to PVP. When PvP comes in to play, I feel the transmog should be disabled as the unique look of legendary items should provide critical information for your opponent(s) to use in forming their strategy.

So, you're somehow against looking at a person's profile and clicking "Inspect?"
Honestly, with the variety of item types that will be happening in this game coming soon, and Mystic Enchanting, just because someone has a Skorn or a Manticore or Chantodo's Set, doesn't mean you'll know exactly what those items really fully do. For all you know, someone Enchanted off the Crit Damage for some other survivability or Crowd Control affix. Common? Probably not. But not impossible.
You'd still need to Inspect someone's gear in their profile before making that judgment. At least leaving their transmogs as they are means they can fight as their character appears in PvE, as opposed to losing their unique look that they like so much.

I suppose you could inspect if the system gives you the option to target players before the match began. In my mind I was envisioning an arena style system (it is blizzard after all and they love it so much in WoW) where you wouldn't be able to target a player prior to engaging. Yes there will be many items and enchanting comes into play. But with the upcoming legendary changes, having a particular affix on a particular weapon (remember, these currently can't be enchanted away) will mean more to my strategy than seeing a person who has a skorn equipped. It's all speculation at this point but I'd rather have that strategy be involved in the PvP process and perhaps you could have a placeholder avatar of the transmogged effects for a loading screen and non-transmogged display when in the actual PvP environment (arena, bg, whatever it comes out to be).

Well, I know that legendary effects that can't be enchanted away will likely have more of an impact than other affixes.
My point was that you'd still benefit from Inspecting someone first, even if you could see what pieces they have equipped, to determine if there are any additional quirks you have to account for.
Arena PvP isn't a bad thing, at least when you compare it to D2, where unless you were in a locked game with 7 other trustwrothy people, "PvP" basically came down to PK'ers and griefers. That being said, if Blizzard does D3 PvP right, players will get to see other players before a match and Inspect for a certain amount of time beforehand, just to prepare.
I still want to echo that I think transmog is great to be able to change a legendary that you find ugly into just a regular piece of tiered armor. There are over 10 choices now for each character class as far as those options go. But changing a legendary into another legendary or a non-legendary into a legendary has a duplicity that I personally cannot get behind. Seeing other people running around wearing legendary skins for legendaries they aren't actually utilizing kind of kills the lore aspect for me.
Not to mention that if each legendary is being given a unique ability, it seems overly deceptive to see another player wearing legendaries when they don't actually have those unique abilities that are supposed to be specifically attributed to said legendaries. It kind of has a disjointed feeling, that I'm sure I will adapt to but won't ever truly feel quite right about. It almost feels like these two new features (transmog and new legendary passives) have a conflict of interest as far as perception goes that I think Blizzard usually tries to avoid but is definitely being overlooked here.
An example that would apply, if transmog existed now, might be seeing someone using a FireWalkers skin over another set of boots, but not seeing any fire trail being left behind. It just has a blatant mismatch feeling to it that I don't particularly care for. It ruins some of the mystique that these legendaries are supposed to carry in their own individuality. If you thought the Firewalkers were ugly and just wanted to cover them up with the skin of a tier 8 boot skin, no big deal there.
On the other side of the spectrum, I want to clarify that I'd be fine with Firewalker boots that were covered by a tier 8 boot skin, to still display the fire trail passive effect, because at least you are actually wearing Firewalkers. It's a little deceptive, but at least the effect matches the actual item equipped to the owner. So if I see the trail I know they are Firewalkers underneath the transmog skin. It's deceptive, but it's a deception to a lesser degree that has a clear logical flow that leads to a clear logical outcome solely based upon immediate visual inspection.
I would have to argue there is a delicate and subtle finesse to this situation that the devs are overlooking.
@Bandyto this is a different thread with a different idea. And it isn't against the rules, even though it might suggest the same opinion and stance.
Let's not take our quotes out of the context of what happened in that particular thread. Which would be seeing double, triple, quadruple posts from the same person, most of them ignoring the reasonable counter arguments and just arguing back for the sake of poking the community, then something will be done.
A friendly reminder (to everyone) from your neighborhood moderator. Now let's get back on topic, shall we?
However there are arguable reasons for why I acted in such ways. Like I didn't ignore any arguments, I simply counter argued against it. And I didn't argue back for the sake of poking at the community, I felt I was the one being poked by the community.
The post started up originally completely legitimate however very quickly got heated due to the highly complex dilemma at hand in which many couldn't see past my reasoning therefore reacted by bashing me and pushing their opinions on me. And then the circumstance that occurred was when a group of majority gets to clinch down on a minority idea and claim their righteousness over it simply because they have a higher number of people that agree with one another. In the end the truth is what's most agreed on as the truth.
On-topic though: This is a new thread about another idea. Yes this draws from my original stance of another post, but I am mainly asking about the visual effects on items that change your appearance. I know many games that use special effects on armor quite well and it does add a new favor to the game, or rather expanding on it since weapons currently do this to minimal degrees.
I'm done arguing about the topic of the last post, it stands to reason no one reasons, so therefore I don't need to subject my personal opinions upon others for them to infringe upon them.
