Noticed something a little odd. Up until yesterday DiaBRO was telling me MP7 was optimal, I've changed nothing and now it says MP9. I guess you changed the calculation, it's just I can barely do MP9, let alone it being efficient. Link to my character.

If you'd want to make a constructive comment, you could elaborate on that..
What's wrong in the recommendation of Diabro3? For which of your chars ?
You could post a link to your BNET profile...

I just looked up your character and saw mp7.. I am guessing you logged out buffed when you got mp9?

Yeah, I just tried it, and it says 9 again when I logged out buffed with WC and BR.
But... that's actually besides the point. I can't do MP9 buffed or not buffed. If the idea is to show me my optimal MP, it should probably show me 7 or even 6 buffed and 4 or 5 unbuffed.

Different effect for me : My main barb was demoted from MP6 to MP5, although i gained some paragon levels recently.
Actually yesterday evening i forgot to put the emerald back into my EF...
Please check if you have buffs running, this can easily skew what is going on with the ratings.
Shouldnt your system be able to calculate someone's unbuffed dps? Seems like that would be a pivotal part of a system that judges a character's performance.

I guess they get their data directly from the BNET website and if Blizzard doesn't distinguish between buffed/unbuffed damage...
Wouldn't take much to work out stats from gear and paragon level and then realise there's a discrepancy between the result and the bnet stats. And then you could work out exactly what buffs that person has on based on their skills and then tell the user they're buffed with so 'n' so buff.

MP6 for my main barb seems correct, at least as long as i use my currently offensive setup.
My barb gets killed about every 20-30 minutes by elites, often due to carelessness.
Against white mobs or with a more defensive setup i guess i could manage up to MP8.

it's even simpler to go to d3up.com and check it out

That wasn't what I was getting at.
DiaBro3 puts my barb at MP9 if it's buffed, and MP7 if it isn't. My barb can barely handle MP8 buffed, let alone MP9, and that's with it trying to give most efficient MP. It's like it's just assuming I'm unbuffed and then applying buffs when it calculates MP.
It wouldn't be difficult to check if the character is buffed beforehand so it wouldn't make that mistake.

You're talking about MP7 vs MP8 vs MP9. Of course there are different perceptions of what the "optimal" level is. It's not like the tool tells you to go to MP3 with your 500k EHP char (or MP10 with 100k EHP). In general the developers have mentioned multiple times that if in doubt, the tool will tell the lower MP. An regarding buffs - after so many people saying the tool should take builds into account, it only makes sense to include buffs as well.
That being said, 0LS/350k EHP barbs claiming to farm MP10... well, my barb has 9%LS and 350k EHP and he's a 1-shot on MP10 (usually stay on ~MP6-ish), so I'm not sure if people talk about them farming MP10 or them being farmed by MP10 mobs.

i don't get some people, just because you can't means no one can?
Nope. But just because you can doesn't mean everyone can.
Looking at your gear, you are in fact a glass canon if you really play on MP10. If it works for you, it's fine, but don't expect that DiaBro will ever recommend people with your EHP to enter MP10. Same with your DPS (it's 285k, btw, and not 500k as you mentioned in your post).
Don't get me wrong - whatever works for you! I'm glad you're having fun on MP10, but for many people 250k EHP and 285k DPS is not fun on MP10, as it's hard to stay alive against most elite packs with these stats. And with every of these posts I'm worried about the impression it gives other players reading our forums.
Thats really low ehp. If your'e just farming trash in easy areas then it really doesnt matter. But against elites or difficult areas, you just die too often on mp10 to make it worth it. The calc is right in this case.
I guess I've said this a couple dozen times already in this thread alone (maybe add a huge red disclaimer on the first post so people finally get it).
The website works as a great tool to give people AN IDEA of which MP they could be farming the easiest, either against tough mobs and farming trash. As such, it will have some baseline stats for the "average Joe" skill level. Anything less than 600k eHP and you will be ONE SHOT in MP 10 by a LOT of stuff (including unavoidable Vortexes, Fears, Knockbacks, Plagued pools, etc.). That is a SHITTY experience for newer players, either solo or in pubs, so the website will NOT recommend higher MPs for those.
If you're a player farming Monster Power 10, at Paragon 100, with 2k+ hours played, the website is NOT meant for you. It is meant for the people who do not have as much experience in the game, and don't wanna go around calculating their eDPS and eHP. You KNOW what you're doing, they probably don't.
Player A's ring is poorly rated but has 9% IAS and he's looking for upgrades. The new ring has +5k DPS but 8% IAS and he's missing a breakpoint. His DPS went up by 5k but eDPS down by 5% (rating items is useless and wrong). Let's say 5k DPS is enough for 1 more MP Level.
Is it okay to give new players wrong information just because it's easy to understand ? Great logic ...
It doesn't work, you can't tell people what MP to play or even rate items just with a profile DPS and some other numbers.
1) Read Zero's post above your post
2) Realize you missed the point
Buffed my Main-Barb with Crit-Mempo, better EF and a more offensive ring, still only MP6.
If i put on my skorn the item score and damage drop considerably, but i get promoted to MP7 !?
I agree that it would be nice to see some more transparency and reasoning behind the MP guesstimate, in particular what you need to improve to progress.
That being said, MP6 vs MP7 is not a big deal. But it puts my wizard on MP10, while MP7 is as high as I can go and MP10 is absolutely impossible, no idea what's happening there ;-) At the same time, my monk and barb are rated ~MP5 while I play at least MP7 with them. But again, this service gives a very rough ballpark figure... if you spent hours on theorycrafting you won't get anything out of it, but for beginners it's good to see which items have some flaws.
Another thing that threw me off: if you have one DPS-heavy and one EHP-heavy ring (cheaper than having two DPS/EHP mixed rings) it downrates both of them because they're missing DPS or EHP, respectively. But I have no idea how developers could fix this. Again, people who don't know much about gearing probably won't do this anyways ;-)
Truly honored... no other word describes the feeling. Thank you.
