Satisfied with the changes. Blizzard continues to impress me with their constant improving of d3. The launch was terrible and full of incompetence but the recovery operation since has exceeded my expectations. I doubt any other game would have redesigned their endgame paradigm after launch like d3 did for inferno.
In order to fix and "end-game paradigm" you have to actually have an end-game.
I don't consider paragon levels, Inferno, or Ubers to be end-game content.
If you do, and you are happy with it, then I completely agree.
If I were to follow that logic, D2 had absolutely no endgame outside of ladder and hardcore (which, mind you, not everyone played). Offline toons didn't even get the ladder option and many online people never bothered with it.
I guess we should probably berate Dave Brevik too because his vision of Diablo had no endgame either - leveling to 99 and doing Ubers doesn't count. We should also burn all copies of D1 as well. It was a terrible game because it didn't even have ladders! It had absolutely no endgame at all.
The whole Diablo series is a pile of shit based on your "endgame" criteria.
In this case, Shaggy, you are justifying that Diablo 3 is ok because D2 and D1 had no endgame. That, is a logical fallacy.
He has a point. We're talking about expectations that were transferred from one title to the next. The "point" of Diablo has always been farming, gear, trades and PvP. That is the endgame. There need not be some constantly fresh MMO material to wage through.

I never mentioned D2, or D1, or said those games were perfect.
The basis of my argument is about D3, nothing else. My opinion is running the exact same route endlessly without dying and with no challenge is not what I consider end-game content to consist of. When you do raise the challenge, it offers no reward, it is actually punishing for most players, because the time:reward ratio gets worse, not better.
I don't use D2, a very old game with very outdated mechanics/design as a metric for anything.
In this case, Shaggy, you are justifying that Diablo 3 is ok because D2 and D1 had no endgame. That, is a logical fallacy.

No one asked for constantly fresh, and the lovers of D3 are the ones bringing up D2, not us. I am talking specifically about D3, and am not using D2 as a measuring stick.
Alls I want to see is more things to do, more variation when I log in. The game is about items, and farming......correct. I just want different ways to do that. Right now, there are very little options for farming and getting gear......farming the exact same route endlessly. This doesnt look like it will change this patch, once you have your recipes, which wont take long.
So, you can say D2 was a great game, so D3 doesnt have to improve on its design.......I really dont agree, disagree, or care.
I am making my opinions about D3, and my own feelings of boredom, and why the game is boring, and why I dont feel the "end-game" is much of an end-game.
I have no desire to run WOW style raids or events, I just want more challenge, with greater rewards for the increased challenge, and several different options to Farm, Itemize, Trade, and ......Play.
I've been away from the game and the forum for a couple of months. The fact I played for five months straight and still somewhat maintain interest is pretty damn good for games these days. Every Diablo release has been rough and overall they are doing a decent job of "addressing" issues. I agree with many points from different people in the thread but overall there are still a few key points that nobody has an answer to.
We were let down, they were MANY functions of this game there were cut out and never made it to release and yet it’s over seven months now and many of these things have not made it to the game. Litheum has many valid points showing that yes Blizzard "listens" and adds content and feature for things we've been wanting since pre-release and they give a half ass band-aid.
I've played every Diablo since D1 first came out, I'd say this is the longest I've played without taking a break from the release (ignore D1 since I was a kid and had unlimited time to play video games), but there are a few key components that can never be fixed unless a massive revamp happens, e.g. expansion or Diablo 4. I'm not sure I'm willing to spend my money on those products.
I've posted many pointless rants here and been an avid defender of D3. Overall it's a great game that has improved on many aspects from D2, but I find it funny that the game became more interesting or pleased more fans when they updated it with D2 ideas and content.
I can still go back and play D1 or D2, albeit not for more than a day or two but I still have fun when I do. Every time I log back into D3, I get bored right away. I can't put my finger on it, but it just doesn't feel like Diablo. There are many threads, opinions, and flames about why this situation does or does not exist and I'm not going to bother stating them. The point is we expected more, Blizzard cut out many features that probably won't come out till an expansion, and I'm an older gamer who can't find games that hold up to my nostalgia of playing some amazing games at an influential age.
TLDR;
The curse of aging and changes of the gamer community makes me a sad panda. This patch does not offer anything interesting nor does it address features I was promised before release.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Playing Diablo since 97. I know nothing and having nothing good to say, I be a troll.
In this case, Shaggy, you are justifying that Diablo 3 is ok because D2 and D1 had no endgame. That, is a logical fallacy.

^ spot on.
And comparing games/franchises' comments and expectations to crimes is the illogical thing to me.
@Litheum why do a lot of people take as if farming any other areas other than Act 3 route is useless?
Granted, it might not be as efficient, but the chance of dropping a perfect trifecta amulet is pretty much the same. The Tal Rasha's chest with +80 resist all that I sold for 90 mil dropped from a skeleton on Act 1's cathedral.
Not sure about anybody else, but I feel completely let down by the new patch.
Dueling:
They added dueling, cool. Only issue I have with this is you can't just turn it on in a public game. They could have easily just made a hostile flag for your character, so when your waiting for your friends, or at the end of the run you just turn it on and fight each other. If you don't turn your flag on, you dont die, so not sure why we need a whole new zone to keep characters safe. New zone does look pretty fun though......
Craft Recipes:
Again they added a very short-sighted answer to adding new content. Farming recipes is a reason to farm bosses, great! But once you get that recipe, that content dies. And you will never return, just like the A4 recipe, it was easy to get, you got it, and never returned to A4. This will give a month or 2 of farming bosses, then everyone will be back in A3.
Crafting mats: More incentive to farm A3 at max efficiency.
New Gems: More incentive to farm A3, 20 million gold plus the gold you spent on your 3 RS gems.
New gear effects: The high price and time investment means this only increases the need for only 1 high-powered character to run A3 with to further improve that character. It gives no incentive at all to have more then 1 character. Especially since they gave no reason to make gear with vitality (it's still all about super-farming with high-dps mains). So this amounts to running A3 endlessly and along the way having a chance for a new item. If its anything like Hellfires, they will just end up sitting in your bank unused. Especially for high-end characters with good items in those slots already.
Things that the developers made no attempt to change:
99% of rare drops are vendor trash (actually made this worse w/ the crafted recipes in the few slots rares still had potential)
Way too many rares overall, meaning only legendaries and recipes are worth picking up for high-tier players
AH is still the best way to gear alts and even your main until you get lucky with a recipe.
No incentive whatsoever for more than 1 charcter.
No reason to farm anything but A3. (Other than to get your recipes, once you get it, no reason to do it again)
Still favors MP0-2 farming meaning less diversity in gear choices, we will continue to just increase DPS stats.
No end-game content, End-game = A3.
No items are leaving the economy.
At the end of the day, the only change they made (outside of duels) is along your perpetual A3 runs, you will get some mats you can use to forge a new item. Most of these will end up in your bank rotting.
So far, I see no reason for me to come back at this time.
Soooooo.... The cup is only half full right? Please, the patch is not even out yet and you are already disappointed. Maybe, just maybe there will be another patch after this one! Maybe, just maybe the game will be expanded and more content will be added. Maybe, just maybe you will never be happy with a game that nearly a year after release is still getting support from the developers…

To be honest, we have both stated our points over and over in many, many different ways. It is apparent to me we just flat-out disagree at a very base level, and no amount of discussion is going to convince me Blizzard is doing enough to improve the game. And I don't think I will ever get you to see why I feel the game is too boring, and has fell far short of my expectations of a Blizzard game.
So at this point, I am going to bow-out of this discussion. I really don't think I will come bck to D3 for a long time, if the current patch cycle/size is any indicator. I've said enough here, and if I havent made my point by now to certain people, then chances are those people will never see my point.
20 million to craft the new gem: Thank God for the RMAH allowing me to buy gold with my credit card!!!!
Really? How much time do you farm for at one given time? I can farm for about 3 to 5 hours and sell enough rares and pick up enough gold to make 20 million. Have you opened the trade chat? There are several ways to make the gold before tapping the credit card. Heck, I sell a ton of crap on the RMAH and then buy gold with that but don't go adding funds if you don't have to.

I can usually make a mill an hour but that doesnt necesarrily mean that I enjoy the same Alkazier runs over and over. Rest assured I have never used the RMAH for anything. Many say that place is cursed.

All of the things you desire: more challenge, greater rewads, different options to farm, itemize, trade, and play. These are all in WoW. I think you are playing the wrong game buddy.
If this was a paid subscription game, I am 100% certain that Blizz would be investing in these different things to keep you engaged (again they do this with WoW all the time). This is the Diablo series.
These games have endings which is something that a lot of people here still seem to struggle with. The "end-game" is just something we have made up to justify playing beyond killing Diablo. And this strong desire and request to fill the game with more things screams of someone who wants to play WoW but at the same time refuses to do so.
I love D3 for what it is which is an item hunt. I'm not requesting for Blizzard to make an arena ladder (although maybe they should put in a ladder for Hardcore) I wish they hadn't made inferno so easy but we are in that age where people will whine nonstop until they get their way.
So what I am saying in the end again is that all the things you are looking for: Progression, end-game, Competitive pvp (because that's what you really want and that's what all these thread about how pvp sucks in D3 are about. Not the one shot fest lulz of Diablo games - notice that D2 and D1 are included), and greater rewards for downing harder content are all in WoW and they are just $15 bux a month away which btw has been an amazing deal for several years.
Talking to the community is very much possible, even on a "Blizzard" Scale with Millions of players.
However, if you chose to simply ignore brilliant posts with very constructive criticism and ideas and simply pull off "your own thing" like Mister Wilson the people who created those threads might leave and move on...and you are left with Trolls and Flame Baiters on the Forums.
And thats how it is today, the people who truly cared about the game are gone. Nearly all of them.
Blizzard pissed away the opportunity to create a immense and epic game.
I think PVPers will like it, and it obviously doesn't have some of the glaring design problems of D3 or cutesy graphical issues of TL2, but....
D3, TL2, D2/LoD all have around 100 unique monsters, and at least two dozen unique level types. Folks used to that quantity of content may not be terribly satisfied with a game that weighs in at a third of that size.
"Savior" is a lot of pressure for a team with that level of resources.
Folks used to that quantity of content may not be terribly satisfied with a game that weighs in at a third of that size.
Ehm?
* You got 3 complete Act's (third comes with the Open Beta).
* Also you got Maps : Path of Exile's end-game areas are items called Maps. They grant limited access to a new world area that can contain great challenges and greater rewards. Like other items, Maps can have random mods that affect their difficulty. For more information, please read this development diary entry about the system.
And i am pretty sure they have way more Stuff on the Road to come. Dont forget, its still beta.
While I still like what they did to the game in the patch, I agree that they need to fix the major problems before people will come back. Mainly crafting and itemization/RNG.

He has a point. We're talking about expectations that were transferred from one title to the next. The "point" of Diablo has always been farming, gear, trades and PvP. That is the endgame. There need not be some constantly fresh MMO material to wage through.

For a team of 18 people they done a incredible job to be honest.
Mainly because they listened to the people who actually play the game.
Thats the major flaw in D3... they dont listen.
It should have all of it since release.
It took GGG almost 6 years to create Path of Exile, and it took Blizzard what...8 years.... 10 years to create D3 ?
Compair the two.
