the auction house ruined the game for me. nobody trades gear or anything, the sense of community that was there in the first few weeks of gameplay is all but gone. everyone just hits 60 then decks their character out and starts raping inferno. Shouldn't have put the AH in the game, i no longer have any reason to play. sucks, considering how long and rabidly i awaited this game.

The diablo 2 you know and love has been through years of patches, as well as an expansion. If you are bored of d3 in its current state, that's fine. Take a break for a while, play some other games, go outside, whatever floats your boat. Then when you feel the time is ready, come back and see what new things d3 has in store.
what kills it for me is the rarity of legendary's, not being able to find them as often as i did in d2. i mean it should not take over 10k kills or more just to find your first legendary or any. Of course not finding upgrades as well. Plus i don't think that another sequel of a great game should be to grab the attention of newcomers but to bring back the "fun" we once had as diablo players but greed took over and made the game half of what it could be. crossing the fingers now. i now only play at least once every two weeks if not once a month to level my character.
Its not fun really at all to have no chance to find your own upgrades.. and instead just grind gear to buy upgrades.. just not the way I'd like to play.
I've found all of my gear, never bought a thing from the AH.
It never ceases to amaze me that people deliberately take a shortcut and then complain that the journey wasn't long enough.
You apparently can't read. Their problem is that they never find any upgrades for themself, but instead have grind items they can't use and sell them to buy the gear they can. And calling the AH a shortcut? Really? Is trading items with other people also taking a shortcut? Also, in my personal experience of a couple hundred hours on my monk, I've managed to come across two items that I could even call an upgrage.
I've read through each page of this thread and I find that a lot of the people who are complaining are:
1.) D2 veterans
3.) Late buyers, missed the boat on the early economic boom... No, the early economic confusion and fluctuation, getting away with selling crap for a ton since that's what was currently the best thing found.
4.) Players who failed to predict the major movements the AH/RMAH will inevitably make as a free trade market (which is a game in itself-- with fun wildcards like patches)
5.) Received the shaft end of the deals with the onslaught of fun slaughtering patches
I, myself, usually stay neutral in complaints such as this but sweet Jesus. I have put in 500+ I don't even know or care to make sure but I have a friend that put in nearly 900 hours played, has two tabs and two charcters full of legendaries and gets the 'phattest' of loots. Finds at least 1 - 2 legendaries/set items per day, whereas my other friend who puts in 3-4 hours a day playing the auction house. The one who "Plays" the game is loaded but finds it ridiculous to spend this life savings to close a dps gap. The one who only plays the auction house, makes just as much as he does and some more since he's made about $1,000+ in RMAH just flipping between the two auction houses. He has several accounts he has purchased with his earnings and continues to snow ball up until the collapse of the economy, which is about when the UNid exploit came around. That's when it's time to reel it back and watch the "news" and by "news" I mean the patch notes, and predict the next economic movement (He's amazing at it).
However, I do feel that Diablo 3 was a good game. The story was forgettable? Yes. The auction house was NOT tested, NOT controlled, and NOT ready? Yes. An economy with no actual money sink (item gambler, socket creation, etc) is a terrible idea, it only works when the amount of money printed is controlled. Also, gold never found it's dollar value-- long story short, it just didn't add up.
Once the things that Blizzard has promised us on the upcoming patch 1.04 goes live, I'm sure it'll balance the prices to what it's actual worth is and every object/item in free trade economy ALWAYS has a pre-determined price range (Not arbitrary retardation when asked to set a price). Once the drop rates and quality of the items go up, there will a flood of similar items and not enough demand for it. Everyone will be happy in a month or two or whenever Blizzard makes a bad move again.
Honestly, though... the most fun I've ever had in Diablo3 was playing twinked out lowbies and just trucking through levels that I previously struggled through. Also, that invulnerable wizard glitch... I'm pretty sure everyone can agree that it was the most satisfying experience EVER. I was all "Honey Badger Don't Give a Sh-T!!" and just laughed manically out loud.
Yes, Blizzard has made a few mistakes:
1.) Aforementionedsszsss'ed ^ (*sigh, shakes fists)
2.) Ultimately!! Not immediately shutting down severs to fix exploits that kicked the living crap out of the economy since I guess every second up is more gravy!! Not that they can find the hemorrhaging right away but when you do find it... stop the bleeding (shut down severs) and make a patch for it (repairing the damage it's caused or the repercussions it might have caused). Think of us as money trees, for everytime you do something in hopes to make us give you more money think of the harm you're causing to us. We won't be around to grow money for you anymore if this keeps up!
Oh, forgot to answer the poll. Yes, it has become boring. My friends list went from 50 on d3 to 0 on d3.
The AH has nothing to do with what is being mentioned here. You're fed up because of drop rates. The AH is not a condition, nor even a symptom, but rather an ad hoc treatment everyone seems to be using for the symptoms associated with widely varying loot quality most of which is far below what one wants to use in later inferno (the "endgame," everyone arbitrarily lusts after).
drop rates? For Real? How many times did you find a Storm shield in d2? and how did you get that mf? how did you find those runes for the rune words? oh you didn't find them yourself from farming from scratch? think about the QQ before you spew spew.
Anyone else got back on diablo 3 after the patch 1.0.4? i did for abit, and love the new changes. Although, after afew days in i ended up not playing, again. Still waiting on pvp and more changes/expansion.
so, has patch 1.0.4 helped with you enjoying D3, still?
I actually find it less boring than I did a few weeks ago before the patch. I've already found two very nice upgrades for my demon hunter since 1.0.4 came out. That's more than I had found for my demon hunter and my barbarian combined in the previous two months of playing before the patch.
I went back to play a little, the patch made possible to go summon WD wich I appreciate. I dont use the AH, at all, and I find that way is more fun to me, cuz every drop I see, its a potential upgrade.
NO world pvp and world freedom makes this game broing out flat , in d2 you could waypoint your way from act to act , I personally dont like trying to get THE item in one act and then need to remake the game or just do all the quests in order to farm some monsters that i want to farm . And in d2 the fun for me was making that gear , joining that random game and pking ppl that had the guts (in hc mode) to stay in the game while you hostile them.
All the legendary upgrades are super expansive, and takes incredible amount of farming to afford.
Once I realized it would be much easier to obtain the same items in a few weeks, I stopped playing.
I'll come back to grind out rest of plvl eventually, before pvp. Sell all the things I had stocked up, get the new uniques with perfect stats, etc... but truth be told, the fact everyone will be sporting the same gear kinda puts me off. If gear were the same, then there are far better games than D3...
loot sux, u dont get amazing feeling while playing the game, too much random. 90percent of the loot u find isnt even good for act1
farming act3 and not even finding items decent enough for my new barb which can use any gear.
so much random that u need to buy items on ah since farming high end content to gear up an alt doesnt even work, since even altgear needs decent rolls that happen too few
