And this is my point. There is very little, if anything that is like WoW in diablo 3. Online only cannot even be classified as being Like WoW because WoW is an MMO and by definition does not have single player. Moreover, the Arena in D3 will function very differently than WoW, and wont be balanced.
I could compare a lot of things that is a more WoW style made it into Diablo.. But then again I could say there is a lot of things from Diablo that made it into WoW and even MMO Gaming in General. So I guess its a no win all around really.
I dislike this whole comparing the 2 like the next guy though and I'm sick and tired of it. I think its just mostly trolls or 13 year olds who have never had the honor of playing Diablo series in the past like many of the mature members in this community have.

Zealot... Diablo III is HEAVILY infulenced by WoW, If you cannoy see that then you are blind. They took what they had in diablo/d2/d2:lod and made it how it is today. Because they are the company they integrated their ideas from WoW in it. If you need proof here it is. Blacksmithing, exactly the same as any profession in any MMo, you get 1 free. They used Enchanting to in diablo III vs the actual old way where the gems just dropped. Those are not solid examples but these are.
-Tier sets
-Arena
-Exclusive Pvp only in zones that allow it to happen
-"hearthstone" vs the actual town portals
-Making the rune system inplemented on a level basis just like talents or the glyphs in WoW would be
-Runes used to be dropped and able to make rune words, now it is just tier sets
-The classes... Monk, demonhunter, witch doctor over the previous necromancer. Barbarian is the same along with wizzard
- The Art and the way they created the characters/enemies/npc's
-Map layout and quests, diablo 2 was an open world, everything was randomly generated. Now the game is mapped out for you.
-Auction house...
Hey Veggie, I think it is very appropriate to express what we feel about the game and the community on a forum.
The fact that you did not think and consider this point makes your post, and therefore you, a troll.
One man cannot tell another what to do.
I'm not a guy who thinks WoW is heavily influencing D3 in a bad way, though I'm definitely not a fan of WoW. That being said, I'm far less tired of people saying D3 is too heavily influenced by WoW than I am of people complaining about the first group.
As an aside, does anyone know if the forums have a way (ie user preferences) to force the default font (and/or color for that matter) to be displayed? I looked but I can't find one, and it was all I could do to read the OP through the blood spurting from my eye sockets.

Sir, have you consider the fact that the Diablo I is over TEN years older than WoW? how can they make Diablo from WoW?
How can your grandfather teach your father from you?
And by the way, your poor grammar is not helping your statement a single bit.

Arena and exclusive PvP: I personally don't mind this at all, because most of the time PvP was used by trolls and ruined my game. So as far as I'm concerned: Improvement
Hearthstone vs. Town Portal: meh, doesn't bother me. At least this way I'm not taking up inventory with portal scrolls or Tomes. Plus, it takes out the steps of having to pick up scrolls, and by Tomes. Improvement
Level Based Rune System: I was originally iffy about this, and would have liked to see Runes as items, but seeing through beta, I think it will be fine. Plus this way, I have something to unlock throughout te entire leveling process instead of just making skills more powerful by adding points. Plus this way weapons and armor mean more because the skills are based on them instead of static skill trees. Improvement.
Rune Words: Rune words were interesting, and I hope they bring them back somehow. But on the otherhand, they made everything else obsolete, so i don't know if it was really good or not, especially considering the entire game became about finding the damn things. Potential Improvement, time will tell.
Classes: Like the Monk, besides his damn animations. He replaces the Paladin, whom wasn't in D1. Demon Hunter replaces the Amazon, whom replaced the Rogue in D1 The Witch Doctor is ok, and replaces the Necro. Loved the Necro and hope he comes back. But he wasn't in D1. The Barb replaced the Warrior in D1. The Assassin, and Druid weren't in D1 at all. Point being, this is less influence from WoW than it is game itteration. The classes in D2 were VASTLY different than the ones in D1. There is NO reason Blizzard can't use different classes in D3.
The Art: it is not the same as WoW. First, the character models are anatomically correct as opposed to the bobble heads used in WoW. The art is A LOT more cartoony in WoW than in D3. As far as character creation/npc's/enemies I don't know what your point is here so its moot as far as I'm concerned until clarified.
Map layout and Quests. Diablo 2 was NOT an open world at all. All the environments were, were boxes with fenced in boundaries around them. I don't remember having a choice of going anywhere else from the Rogue Encampment, to the Bloody Moor to the Cold Plains in D2. What is "open" about that? That is not an open world. As far as Quests, they are a lot cooler in D3, and a lot more involved in D3 then they were in D2. There is a lot more characterization in D3's npcs then in D2. Improvement.
Auction House: Ok, I'll concede this point.
So, the influence is actually minimal, and where there is influence from WoW it is an improvement. Plus D3 isn't an MMO and that is ALWAYS a plus.
One man can tell another man what to do, by simply doing it. This happens all the time. You pay taxes. That is a man telling another man what to do. Case and Point.

Not that this is really material to the conversation but... Wow came out four years after D2, and only three after LOD... Not nearly "over ten years" after.
Why do people care whether the monk is punching with a weapon in hand or not? The weapon won't make him punch harder. In fact the inertia from the heavy weapons would make his movements a lot slower. The real atrocity here that no one seems to notice is the wizard. She puts her wand and orb away every time she casts a spell! Wizards are supposed to focus their magic through those items to empower them, and make them stronger. Just doesn't make no sense!

First, the reason everyone is pissed about the monk is because the weapon WOULD be more powerful than the punch and it looks absolutely stupid seeing him have a big ass weapon and not actually use it. Plus his attacks are all already effected by the weapon both weapon speed and damage. But the animation has him PUNCHING! He should use the damn weapon! And you're right, I didn't notice that about the Wizard. What the hell are they doing?
