I trust you guys to have fun and be able to make it through and farm inferno one way or another xD The more people gathering top tier items the cheaper they will be and more likely to be placed in the gold auction house, bwahahahahahaha!
I think nearly everyone will try and make optimal build choices as they go along, and almost having been forced to experiment will have a good enough idea for a lot of people to start to develop strong builds which will ultimately turn cookie cutter. If you've played rpgs before you should know cutters always occur, period, because of optimalization. Some just have more shapes and and some shapes just retain more popularity than others for various reasons.
My first playthrough is going to be on a witch doctor. My brother is going to play with me on his monk. We will create a combination of skills and abilities as we get to test all of them and really feel the game out ourselves and figure out some effective ways to play together. My first solo character, for when we can't find time to play together, will be a demon hunter. I think kiting is an invaluable tool for an undergeared player for the content, and the demon hunter or CC-spec'd wiz will probably be good picks for the job.
