When I see this complaint I ask myself over and over again if those who make such comments ever played Diablo 2? Diablo 2 out of the 3 Diablo games has by far the cartooniest of graphics.
THERE'S TOO MUCH COLOR!!! CARTOONS MAN CARTOONS RUINING EVERYTHING!!!! DIABLO 3 HAS THE COLOR PALETTE OF MY LITTLE PONY... It's not cartoony if anything it looks like a stylized art painting. that's about it. Fuck the whiners.

Not even Death will save you from Diablo Bunny's Cuteness!
Torchlight is a pretty good example of a cartoonish visual as many people already said. There's nothing wrong with it and it's quite appealing nonetheless.
Personally I think the D3 visual fits quite well it's purpose and I'm quite pleased with it : )
Do colourblind persons se the graphics as cartoonish? In my eyes it just about the colour of the character popping out more then natural.
I'm only partially colorblind, but it looks pretty cartoonish to me. I'm fine with the colors though. It's mostly the architecture that bugs me, like the completely impractical, uneven stairs in Steamrice's screenshot. It's the same sort of thing that SWTOR did, and I really don't like that art direction. Every game that expects to be around for more than two years seems to be going that route to avoid looking outdated later, but to me, that just makes it look like junk two years earlier.

You don't need a darken mod. Some areas in D3 are really dark.
