Newsflash: You are paying for the game development and support, why should that be less because of the method of purchase? And as people with more IQ then the OP have mentioned, you can't start a undercut war with your retailers as thats where most sales still comes from.
You do realize diablo 3 costs 33 £/40 € at amazon uk right? so lowering the price about 15€ for the digital copy would still be more expensive than some of the retailers.
was surprised by the high price too. ordered mine from amazon uk, costs just under 39 pounds with shipping to germany; thats about 47€ according to yahoo currency calculator.
The sales of games is less about how much a physical copy costs. Think how much a cd and an instruction manual really costs. probably under a dollar. Then think of how much it costs to pay blizzard's diablo 3 team for the 10 years they've put into it. That's why it costs that.
I live in the US and paid $65 (including tax) for a pre-order at gamestop almost two months ago.
Guranteed to get it at the midnight release party!
A hack n slash party? brawl or bring your own weapons? i wanna go too
Are midnight release parties common in other countries, other than the US? (serious question)
Here, those who pre-ordered or want to buy the game at midnight (never guranteed there will be enough) can wait outside Gamestop's doors until midnight, and then at 12 on the dot, everyone floods in and gets free <insert game>-related stuff, including food. The Gamestop near me confirmed it'll happen for D3!
Everyone in Europe who can buy from retail and still get it at release date should really do so. No need to support Blizzard in overpricing their games.
that are in a printed box that was stored, shipped and whatnot.
60€ for a DIGITAL copy? really?
*of course I paid it.
"You can play Diablo III with players from other regions. However, you can only purchase Diablo III in your default region"
That would be BS.
Also, what the hell is up with "Additional fees may apply"?

States like Texas pay taxes (8.25% last time I checked) over digital purchases

1 U$ dolar = 1,75 R$ (brazilian real)
so i paid 57,08 U$ dolar
Having such a high price on your digital releases compared to the retail products is kinda bad behavior as well.
Sure they have every right in the world to do this, but it isn't exactly something customers ought to support.
