I've never been a huge fan of having minions or pets do the fun stuff for me. The Necro from D2 I ended up making, was only a Corpse Explosion + Poison Nova build, I avoided minions as much as I could.
And while I enjoyed my Necro, it wasn't my favorite because I felt like I was forced to choose that build and was unable to explore other options.
I had labelled the Witch Doctor as D2's Necro and was expecting a much more minion oriented play style, and had all but decided I'd probably end up leveling it up last.
After playing all the classes to max level and beyond, I'm finding myself wanting to play my Witch Doctor more and more, it's just so damn fun.
While there are the Zombie Dogs that's pretty much all there is for minions, the rest of the abilities are either temporary that they require multiple casts, or they're just good ol' spells. I think it has something to do with the fact that I'm actually casting the ability that it feels a lot better than just having them up all the time. Seems small but it makes a difference to me.
Firebats is such a sick spell. And the different Rune effects I've seen just make it one of favorite abilities I've seen so far (early I know).
Lobbing Firebombs up or down levels is really satisfying.
Corpse Spiders just devour "bosses" when you just throw out as many as you can before they become attackable.
Grasp of the Dead is really powerful as well, can be placed exactly where you want, slows and does damage? Yes please.
So that's my little rant, how about you? Whats your choice?
Personally, I think the melee classes look most fun to me. I will have to go with either monk or barb first up. Of course, it depends on what the rest of my part end up choosing... (fingers crossed one of them goes WD, because it is my least fav).

Diablo 2 I was a heavy into the Barbarian as a straightforward, smash em up character. Really enjoyed the play style. So looking at the new classes, I was leaning towards something new, but was favoring the other melee class..The Monk. Fast, powerful, resilient. Seemed like the class for me.
Then, just like slimatic, I took a closer look at the Witch Doctor. Firebats, Soul Harvest, Hex, and my sure to be favorite...Locust Swarm. I think this will be my first play through. He is just such an interesting class. Should be lots of fun.
Well I was naturally drawn to the Barb and WD but now I am enjoying the other 3 a lot as well. Especially with the runes. Man the Wizard destroys stuff once she gets a good wand. So fun!
I thought that the DH would be the second last class I would try and the monk would be the first. After watching gameplay videos however I've fallen in love with the DH and it will definatly be my first choice.
The witch doctor. At 1st I thought he was kinda lame, but when I played him on beta I thouroughly enjoyed it and came to a realization. He was OP as hel, not because of his dps, but his surviability. Tthis guy is bound to be by far the best for infeno.
Of course recently they just smacked him with the old nerf bat, so I might change my mind again.

One is never hurt by being given additional choices, only by taking them away. A QUADRILLION MAGIC FIND is worthless if you can't kill shit!
I never really liked the Monk, but after looking at the spells in the talent calculator, then I think it could be pretty fun to play. I like the mantras that either buffs or debuffs, and a load of different kicks and punches could make him/her really diversive.
Otherwise I've always been a fan of the WD and the DH, but time will tell what I'm going to play.
Ya before I got into Beta I thought for sure that Monk would be my main class, and while I still enjoy it, it feels a bit too boring.
This is only with level 13 though, and this could all change with the full spectrum of abilities available and better gear (faster weapons), but the 3 punch combo's seem too slow, same goes for the spirit generation.
Also using a mix of spirit generators feels too clunky. You can't spam click because there's a tiny delay on the click registration, resulting in x-x-x punch combo's rather than x-x-y that I'm trying for. Or I'll have to do x-y-y just to be safe. Not sure if anyone else has noticed this issue at all.
When all the classes had been announced, I was definitely drawn to the monk. After having watched gameplay footage, I'm leaning more towards the barbarian as a melee class.

To be honest I didn't think that I'd enjoy the Monk that much when I first watched videos of him, but as I do not have the beta I still can't say that will change. Though now he looks much more appealing and is shaping up to be my 3rd or 4th character.
Demon Hunter. I hated him at first but kinda liked him after giving the melee build a try. Now rthe melee build is impossible but I still look at hiom with better eyes.
I think his going to be my third or forth character.

It's gameplay was the most fun around level 10 for me doing back flips, kiting some, dropping slow traps on magglemaw, chain stunning magglemaw every 3rd attack, (and the same with casters and groups of mobs :D) etc.
It was only after I got to play with the skills runed that I came to this opinion though, so who knows what my favorite character will be at 60.
I completely destroyed single targets and I destroyed groups. I guess the same can be said for every class but I had the most fun doing it on the demon hunter, who without the runes, just felt weak otherwise.
Barbarian for me. For over a year I had been convinced I would be playing the Witch Doctor first .. but after watching Force's let's plays and getting a chance to play the beta myself .. I am in love with the Barb.
The wizard feels most powerful, but that won't mean I'm going to play it. Crushing skulls with an axe is just awesome.
Mine is the Barbarian. I'm usually not one for melee classes. However, after watching the videos testers have posted I think the Barbarian looks like a lot of fun.
Having not played the game as of yet, I can't fully comment. That being said, the class I was looking least forward to playing prior to watching play-throughs was the monk. I figured if I were to play a melee character, it would certainly be the barbarian. not the case, now that I have seen some uploaded videos. I think I would really enjoy the monk, and am looking forward to a chance to check him, as well as the othe classes out, either in the beta or when the game finally arrives.

I thought barb would be the mediocre at best, and well I was right. I had some hope for the monk, but got solely disappointed.
