Initially Diablo 3 was made to be an MMO, but that was scrapped for reasons I can't remember anymore, and the development was taken over by Blizzard self, instead of Blizzard North (D1, D2 & D2 LoD creator). So World of Diablo WOULD have been nice, but with my personal experiences in MMO's, then the MMO genre can get both of my middle fingers. I love MMO's, I just hate and love that you have to work together to achieve end game content, and people SAY they wanna be serious about it, but puts zero effort or work into it.
I don't think it's gonna be a D3 expansion or character DLC or anything like this, since PoE is so huge at this point in the ARPG genre, that it would make sense for Blizzard to keep going on that.
I don't think it's gonna be a Dark Souls type of game either, based on the games Blizzard has right now, they haven't made that type of game, or at least not what I know of.
So I'm gonna say D4, whatever type of game that might be, and it's gonna continue the story, so I don't think it's gonna be a prequel, but a sequel. Since the books kinda makes up for the holes in the story between the games

D4 is pure retardness, if it will ever happens will be non before 2022+. But is nearly impossible that Blizzard will leave alone the 4th most sold game in videogames history (D3).
We will get a new expansion for D3 + DLCs with new classes.
- No need for complete rebuilding of everything and reinventing classes
- Even a graphics engine upgrade makes the game very beautiful
- Development time can be used for adding things and improving the current game
What indicates D4:
- All the job postings
- Time passed so much from RoS
What indicates D3 X2:
- Exactly same hype style as in previous D3 releases: "Book of -"
- Even after all this silence the brand new Diablo gift laptops are D3 related, not only Diablo overall as one could think so close for D4 announcement.
- D4 announcement too early after some closely closed major job postings.
All taken in consideration, I can't rule out D3X2. Most voters probably also vote what they wish for, not what they believe in.
They just gave up on making actual changes or content for D3 seasons anymore. I don't know how you go from maintenance mode back to any expansions or DLC. Aside from maybe a Switch port, D3 is definitely cooked at this point.
I believe it will be a new MMO, as one of the job postings was listed as someone needing mmo experience.
Given how Blizzard likes to do things their way, this may not be a bad thing. Some think mmos are all like WoW, but what if it's still Diablo 2/3ish but with more players or something. Maybe the old clan huts and stuff with a trading in game market (not like the auction house).

First of all, i dont think D3 will get a new expansion, they already scrapped one, i dont think they are willing to work on a new one. I do think they will add new DLC classes but thats about it, the game needs to move forward, its outdated and it needs new ideas for people to invest in.
It might be a very successful game but that doesnt mean people will continue to buy it, all the people who are interested in it have already bought it. It already made its revenue and got its playerbase. Now the only way Blizzard can make money from Diablo is to make a new game so people will buy it again for full price instead of shitty class DLC. And then it can add DLC to D4.
I will buy anything Diablo related, i wont lie, but i will be disappointed if i have to buy D3 expansion instead of a new game. I've already started saving money to buy a new PC for Diablo4 whenever it comes out, so that goes to say i really think its D4 on the works.

It could be a lot of fun, I have always wanted to play Diablo as an mmo, everything is bigger in scale as a mmo, seeing mount Arreat in the distance for example.
I'm sure people will compare it to Elder Scrolls Online, however, Blizzard always does things top notch, even if they have gone towards the greedy side as of late, they still provide us with amazing imagery.

You are delusional. There is no D4.
You can disagree with people without scolding. 2nd time this thread you're calling people who disagree with you names.
on-topic:
MMO is possible, but then it would compete with WoW which I believe is still going strong...
I also think D4 because of all the job postings, and the comics release schedule, which in the past has always coincided with new games/expansions.
I believe it will be a new MMO, as one of the job postings was listed as someone needing mmo experience.
Diablo as a moden Hellgate: London could be pretty awesome.
Hellgate London was originally made because Blizzard North didn't want to make a mmo for Diablo because WoW was still fresh, and when Blizzard North disbanded, one of the owners create Flagship studios and created Hellgate London...at least that is what I remember.
He took a lot of the ideas they all pitched for an MMO and created his own lol so Blizzard has always wanted to make Diablo into an MMO they just never felt it was the right time, they also never expected WoW to get as big as it did and for as long as it has been...shit is still going strong...like wtf.

Ah, was not aware of the history of that at all - that's pretty awesome, thanks!
They can easily milk D4 with cosmetic microtransactions and paid missions/dlc like those in SC2 for 10 years at least. That said it (D$) is coming like 100% sure some time soonTM.
I personally am kind of tired from the setting - smashing skeletons and stuff for so much years since D1 gets kind of boring. If the game does not have some e-Sport scene I'll probably won't follow it for long. And if it is not a top-down view I am 100% skipping the gameplay part (give me those amazing cinematics).
Results of poll "The next Diablo announcement - what do you believe in":
D4 (sequel or prequel) 3 386 votes 55%
D3 Expansion 824 votes 14%
D3 DLC (new class) 790 votes 13%
World of Diablo 770 votes 13%
Diablo - dark souls style 322 votes 5%
Total 6 092 Votes
These are the results of Diablo's forum communities: battle.net, diablofans, reddit diablo & diablo3 so the results could be different if asked from all playerbase.
Majority, 55 % of player base believes in D4. 27 % of player base believes that D3 will get more content and 18% believes Diablo franchise will aim to new direction.
Didn't inculed Switch or mobile because while they are possible, Blizzard is unlikely to forget other platforms with new Diablo.
D2 remastered was not included as I was asking more of new Diablo announcements.

I'm not sure what I want actually.

This my friend, my words. Amen
Good post.

Let's see:
Why D4?
- Marketing wise easier
- Too much time from a RoS
- No need to work on D3 problems
Why D3 X2?
- No need for complete rebuilding of everything and reinventing classes
- Even a graphics engine upgrade makes the game very beautiful
- Development time can be used for adding things and improving the current game

It's funny how throughout the Diablo community, some are 100% sure it will be D4 and some 100% sure it will be D3X2.
I don't think there's enough proofs to rule out either.
Wait and see what gamescom or blizzcon has to offer, then we might be able to speculate on whether or not its D4 or D3X2

We're going to need a lot of patience either way.

Want Diablo 4 and i want it to rival PoE, then GGG will maybe get their asses in gear and optimize the game.
For D4 to get any future funding, it would need to be either B2P with some dlc/mtx included or F2P with MTX to buy
