I quit playing a while back because nothing new ever came out. The necro class was cool.......but it's still in the same old diablo 3 game lol. I play other games now like many people, but i always come to diablofans to check for anything new for this game because i spent many hours playing and farming. I hope one of these years blizzard will put some actual news up. Even something like "What we're currently working on" would be nice. I mean it wouldn't hurt....... right?
Why in the world would Blizzard inform you of game updates on a fan forum? They have the PTR and patches notes to accompany each rendition of the PTR that gives you all the info you would need.
I also come back once in a great while to see if anything is stirring.
I'm willing to bet there's never going to be another actual meaningful update to Diablo 3 again. Of course I hope I'm wrong, but the writing's on the wall man.
Literally all it takes is to look at Path of Exile, and you know that D3 lost, a long time ago. It it absolutely MINDBLOWING how GGG from PoE can not only continue to deliver NEW content every couple of months, but how they are actually willing to change / add / tweak existing content right after it's release. When's the last time you've seen something from Blizzard that was borked, and they changed it quick? Blizzard has drowned themselves in too much red tape. Look how long it took to get the Necro.
Hell, at this point if Blizzard DID do a Diablo 4 reveal, there's no way I could get excited. It would release with minimal content, and it would take YEARS to get more.

Poe is better here, Poe is better there,...
Yet u are on a Diablo forum.
Did you forget to read the first sentence in my post?
Either way, yes I still check here once in awhile. I DID spend a couple thousand hours on Diablo 3 since closed beta after all. But yes, PoE is better. Diablo 3 is bad and Blizzard should feel bad.
Why blizz should feel bad? They made some money on D3 and infinitely more on Overwatch and they are constantly making money on WoW and Hearthstone. They are fine. "Activision Blizzard" is not the same people who made our colorful memories of D2. They don't fucking care about anything but money. They can't, they have supervisors and shareholders who tell them what to do and who expect $$ to be made. Why do you think they released a fucking class as a DLC you have to buy? Google GGG. It's a private company. They can do whatever the fuck they want. And they probably like what they do, as people working on D2 presumably did. They don't have shareholders telling them what to do.
It would be really exciting to hear some news about a new Diablo game, or even an expansion, although I'd almost like to see an Expansion as more of a retool/revamp at this point; I don't think adding another class would really bring anything exciting to the table, at least not Blizzcon-worthy excitement.
Having no items in the digital deluxe / collectors edition for Battle for Azeroth has me thinking there will be no updates or anything for D3.
It could mean they are hiding the Diablo goodies to avoid spoilers.
Weren't they hiring for a new Diablo project of some kind, and then filled/closed the applications?
Some people here need to calm down a bit We waited years without even the books/toys/marketing stuff/Blizz gear/etc. Diablo III got afterwards while we waited from D2 to 3 (well, there was Moon of the Spider but that was it). There was even *less* of a Diablo presence at each event between the two installations than there was for D3 at last BlizzCon--there were at least discussion panels for D3. We mostly just got chat gem jokes.
For like more than a decade we were pretty much just a social board that posted conspiracy theories as news now and then and played random forum games. We created a new wiki just to have something to do.

battle for azeroth releases two and a half months before blizzcon. diablo won't get anything really newsworthy there and the only people communicating might be the social media team. well, they try to establish the image of someone from blizzard who can write stuff about diablo.
face it, this game is still dying a slow, painful death.
so why you want to keep playing if more than half of the people that are left are bots and the rest already have their clans or groups made, it is impossible to rank fairly(too much para/gems/primals= thanks bots) and you can only play to pass the time, each season after a week not know what to do more, farm levels?
you Sir, are wrong! Its definetely possible to rank highly on the solo-Leaderboards. Every season. Right now, i'm #4 Witch Doctor in EU. I play 100% legit. No Bot, no D3Helper, no Thud, no Enigma, no Paragonswitch- or other Macro, i decline every offered cookie, not even using Yolo-mouse. I have a full time Job, oftentimes i'm working overtime...
So whats your point? You are to bad, so everyone must be?
Botting is definitely a problem for those that want to rank on the leader-board, but get pushed out by half of the top people being bots. To me, it isn't, just because there is no purpose the the leader-boards, other than pride. Would be nice to be working towards rewards, but they wouldn't do that because they would have to fix the bot issue.
All these emokids LOL , this thread is quite funny.
We will get 2-3 new classes soon, druid will be announced in november and an expansion in the next years. D3 will kick ass any others action game of this type for many years.
I think that might be a little overly optimistic xD But the gloom and doom mentality is a definite mindset thing.
Aside, I really do hope they implement the druid. Fury ww was one of my favorite builds in d2 :c And we *did* see a druid in that standup art in that one pre-BlizzCon vid/pic a few years ago. But if they developed and implemented the necro in a smaller amount of time as a "passion project" (their words), I wonder where druids really stand. Like, if they had been ideating a long time ago and might have picked up again at some point. Idk. Diablo druids are way cooler thematically than almost any other game I've seen them in, so my expectations are high if this is the case.

hi2u old friend! Not a lot of posting happens here anymore it seems :c
Poe is better here, Poe is better there,...Yet u are on a Diablo forum.
...because you can't possibly play another game and check in on the forums of another one, that was be completely absurd!
To answer your question, OP: No, it's been a long time since Diablo 3 has had any sort of update that isn't simply changes to existing items or set bonuses. The changes overall are minor and while they've still given more options for people to play without feeling like one set is completely blowing the others out of the water, it's a relatively minor change and not doing anything to break up the monotony of what the game is, nor introducing anything new conceptually to the game.
The last time that something was added to the game that could be considered a new feature and not simply a quality of life change was in patch 2.6.0 on 06/27/2017 with the Necromaner and Challenge Rfits, or perhaps 2.3.0 - on 08/25/2015, almost three years ago. That feature was Kanai's Cube. Since then, they have added new zones and quality of life changes - but again, they've done nothing to expand or alter the end-game, add to it or add something larger to do. New zones don't really mean anything if there is no reason to go to them beyond 'complete this bounty objective'. Let's look at the patches from a general overview standpoint
2.6.1 - 10/24/2017 - Class Set Revisions, Skill Changes, Item Revisions
2.6.0 - 06/27/2017 - Necromancer Class, Challenge Rifts, New Zones and New Bounties
2.5.0 - 03/21/2017 - Armory Feature, Crafting Mat Storage
2.4.3 - 01/04/2017 - Anniversary Event
2.4.2 - 08/02/2016 - Nothing of note - new torment levels (11-13) and minor item revisions
2.4.1 - 04/26/2016 - Nothing of note - minor item revisions and class skill balancing
2.4.0 - 01/12/2016 - New Zone, Set Dungeons, Empowered Rifts, Revised Buff Bar
Like many of you, I also loved Diablo - and I still check in on this site about once a month because it reports well in the event that something is released... but nowadays the news on the front page is: Challenge Rift, Cosplay, community art or a discussion of something that blizzard has released as a whole that isn't specifically Diablo. Nothing is wrong with that and I am not claiming that it is, however my hope that Diablo 3 is magically going to become something new and interesting/engaging has passed.
I play around with PoE fairly regularly now and I would definitely recommend it to those that have been on the fence about trying it - they steadily release new content every 3-4 months. My love of Diablo and the ARPG genre is what brought me to that game to begin with. I've also played here and there with Wolcen and some of the 'free to play' (pay to win) ARPG's (MU Legends, for example) but there isn't anything unique feeling about the free ones.
Opposed to Bleu42, I do think I would actually be really excited if they announced a Diablo 4 - I welcome any more ARPG's to the fold, as I feel like there is a monopoly on them right now. However, I would be deeply concerned if Blizzard didn't take anything away from the D3 experience and try to build a serious development roadmap for that game.

You're not wrong on any of these points. I'm just saying maybe we could do with a little more patience. Realistically speaking, we all know that unless Diablo in some way feeds into their esports agenda or becomes insanely profitable in some other sense, it isn't going to receive the spotlight time the other franchises do. (Counter: SC2 is esports heavy but receives similar attention?) Simultaneously, they aren't just going to let an IP with the staying power of Diablo drop out of existence--3 brought a lot of hype. (3 also seemed to be a petri dish for some gameplay in other franchises, which has its own value.)
There are definite developments that point to something being in the works, few as they are. And we've waited before--much longer and with infinitely less current game development than 3 has gotten.
They very specifically said last BC would have nothing for Diablo; it was also said, if I remember correctly, during the community panel that something is in the works, or this was pretty obviously hinted at. They were also hiring for a new Diablo project, and I think there may be positions open now for the existing one. This tells me that they're not ignoring the franchise--we know that Diablo has one of if not the smallest team, so stuff takes them more time and it's likely much more difficult to devote to developing a new game and maintaining an old one. Diablo was always the runt of Blizzard's franchise, and that underdog identity is, I think, what brings a lot of people back to it.
Honestly? I think 3 has run its course. It came out in 2012 and has a disgusting amount of gameplay systems jammed into it. That's 6 years. 2 held my attention for a decade without that much complexity. The ARPG is a tricky game to develop for longterm profitability.
They may or may not announce some new character pack, I don't know. But I think what's next is already in the works. I'm not saying *not* to criticize the current game--I've been playing this franchise, writing about this franchise, etc., for many years. I care a great deal about it. But I also think that 3 has lost sight of what Diablo is. I'm excited to see what's next.

Don't be a tool. There is a blue post tracker. If there is news on diablo by blizzard its hear too.
Go Troll someplace else if you have nothing better to do. I hear WoW chat misses you go there.
There is more information on this site about diablo 3 then blizzard would or ever could do.
We'll have to wait for Pax or Blizzcon I'm guessing :<
don‘t expect to be understood here. most of the last 100 diablo 3 players seem to be here and would never accept the state of the game.
I also come back once in a great while to see if anything is stirring.
