Do rifts and spend the shards for the correct item. Then the rare items you got, Upgrade them in the cube, which is the most efficient way. Especially if you solo, bounties take some time and 50 forgotten souls for reforging is quite expensive.
The problem is the mindset of people. You're not SUPPOSED to get 13 primal ancient items before you push. Primal items are just a bonus. If you get one - gratz! If you don't, you'll still be able to achieve whatever you want. Ancients are so important because they allow you to augment an item or run LoN, and the weapon alone enables about 1-2 tiers higher.
But I don't have a solution for that. People are so focused these days on what they *don't* have, instead of being happy about what they *do* have. I hope Challenge Rifts and other changes in the future change things about in Diablo. Right now the game is so freaking awesome, but people just destroy the game for themselves by looking at it in a really weird (and in my opinion wrong) way.
no thanks...life is to live, not to play Diablo non stop...
This surely is strange. wit 16h a day you would not talk about having 700 mats or getting 1k. This is done in like an 2 hour of rift farming.
For fun a friend and me said, that we farm rifts until we get 550 legendaries, 100 GR keys, and some other stuff. I used the sage crusader build on t12 (there is a thread about efficient builds) and it took me like 6-7 hours (distributed over 4 days) to get 500 legendaries, 4000 deathbreaths, 3500 of each mats (i always collected the white ones in the specific A5 rift) and 160 GR keys. But this is a little bit offtopic.
Like in other threads i totally agree with bagstones opinion.
And i want to stress out how important it is that the game has elements which can keep a person playing it 8 hours, while still having fun.
Because what each community needs are streamers. They have a Viewerbase that may also come back or gets motivated by them which increases the playerbase. Also it will prevent some people from just playing the first 2 weeks of each season.

And ? You are just in the different "league" that him, accept that and avoid frustration.
@SpecKROELLchen - hes talking about bounty mats, not death breaths/yellows/blues. Still it should be much more than this - in fact one 16h session should be enough to get like 500 bounty mats or more i think.
The new grind is ridiculous. Grinding can be fun, but grinding to grind so you can grind is pretty crazy.
You just summed up what hack and slash games are about. Grinding to be albe to do more grind and faster... rinse and repeat. People expecting things that hack and slash games are not are just dumb.
Thats the problem with modern hack and slash games. Where people think that ridiculous grinds make them fun by default. Hell, even brevik talked about the problem with grinding and runes in d2 in a video recently. A 10% chance or a 10% chance is stupid. It's honestly a lazy way of extending the lifespan of the game, instead of adding fun new engaging type of gameplay. I enjoy a good grind, i've played 500 hours of Borderlands and hundreds of hours of D3 for a reason but it doesn't excuse lazy game design. This is coming from someone who has actually enjoys D3 for what it is. I just want more engaging things added, like when rifts were added.
But what is the alternative? What ARPG would you say has a successful loot drop system that works with Diablo 3's style of play?
As much as I hate the idea of grinding endlessly and praying to the RNG gods for the perfect ancient whatever-I-need, that's sorta been the ultimate point of the game. Outside of pushing higher GRs and fishing for the perfect rifts, there's nothing much to do but grind Paragon otherwise.
It's really not that hard to find and roll a full ancient set given you're dedicated enough to roll them through the cube. Bounties and GR run for a week and you have all the mats you need to roll all of what you need into ancients. Blood Shards and Legendaries you come across on the way will surely help as well. Once you're there, there's practically nothing else to upgrade cept augments, paragon or... rolling a new character/build and doing it over again.
Pih, I got an ancient Serpent Sparker on my monk this season. Also, with like 100 bounty mats and 5000 Forgotten souls, you really should get an ancient Serpent Sparker, maybe not the roll you want, but still.
I get some ancients here and there, but never anything I want. e.g. No ancients for either set item builds. What do you do to get the gear you want?
Bounty clears then reroll item until desired stats.
