I want to give the full anonymous viewer base on dfans a chance to way in, dispel or confirm a vocal minority as it were. I'm not by any means saying the meager dfans community is the end all be all, but I want to see what you think.
And I understand that there are more days to blizzcon, but the gameplay updates aren't looking too intensive.
I'm content with the upcoming updates. I'm looking forward to it! I honestly can't wait to get on the PTR next week to check out the Anniversary Dungeon; in fact I have just started replaying Diablo 1 to remember what the different lvls look like. I'm excited about the Necromancer, just hesitant to say that I will get it because I don't know how much it will cost.
I've been playing POE for the past couple of months, just came back to D3 for the new season after missing a couple but...
I'm slightly content... the D1 remake does nothing for me, I played D1 when it came out, it's the game that got me into Blizzard. It's the easy choice for a revisit as well, much smaller in scale to D2, which is definitely the most notable game 8 the series.
The only " exciting" news is the Necro, but that not coming out for the foreseeable future is extremely disappointing. The implication of class packs might be good. I could go for a new class every 3 months or so.
The current dev meta of releasing sets for builds is disappointing. All the builds have been done...
The only core problem that's SLIGHTLY being addressed is the power cap, with challenge rifts.
No new Diablo game (didn't think there would be one though). No new expansion (bummed about that), but, not even a big patch close down the road to look forward to. Just... an anniversary event. Which is cool! don't get me wrong! But man, when that's ALL, ya know?
And now we know that the Necro patch is sometime 'in the second half of 2017'?
Pretty uh, I feel pretty strange. If they're not even going to try to fix the core problems, the reasons WHY people say it doesn't feel like an actual Diablo game, I just don't know.
I'm the biggest raging fanboy and even I'm feeling let down. What the hell?
That dungeon thing is totally boring to me. I don't care about some anniversary event. I want to know about the main game I spend most of my time on! There's a serious disconnect here.
Necro is cool, of course, sure. Who isn't down with that? Even at a cost. But damn...
Tyranny out in a few days. Better not be a similar letdown.
I am also frustrated. Why was adressed almost in each post here.. :D.
But i think the idea of challenger rifts while leaving the paragon system as it is, is somewhat good.
Dont get me wrong the system isnt good. But it would be a ton of work to rework everything ( they clearly do not have the manpower (I think the higher devs said something like "prepare cool stuff for blizzcon" and nobody had even time for the balance patches) but having this the few grinders that still exist can still be
better (sure just because of paragon, but what else is there) and at the same time a competition without paragonlevels / items can have a place.
It depends on how much fun these challenger rifts are.
I think the biggest problem is that they let build up such a hype about a new expansion or a new game (why not posting "sorry wont happen this year but we still have stuff"), so everyone HAD to be disappointed.
The announcement of the Necro class got me excited just to know that this class may only be available in the half of 2017? Ok, chill, there is this 16 stages Diablo 1 Dungeon, cool..wait what? In retro-look? Oh come on! Ok, we still have this Build Organizer and mats Organizer, right? Thats something, right?
Nah, with all this new stuff, patch 2.4.3 thingy, I am disappointed, all the hype with BlizzCon will be really cool this year for Diablo and vopes for at least a 2.5 were so high, that not even this is a reality. Its not that I do not like the stuff they announced, but this is not what I expected in so many ways possible. With all the hype about a D4, expansion 2 or D2HD, my guess was at least a major 2.5 Patch, but hey, now we get seasons on consoles..yay
uhm , im quite happy I guess. Only down side for me is that I have to wait so long for the necro
I think xpacs are not a model they want to pursue anymore. They probably have their reasons. And it is fine if I get stuff through dlc instead of xpacs. We just get some zones and experiences for free and we pay a bit for a character. All in all the content could add up to an expansion. I dont know, Ill just enjoy the D1 remake and the necro...
Yeah, maybe the DLC is a good idea. With a new character or even a new act for some money, they could make this. Very welcome though. They need to announce more details today, what they want to do for the future of D3, if this Model is going to happen or not.
Maybe i am misunderstanding the Diablo1 event, are they saying that it is going to come once a year as in January and then its gone for the next 11 months, i really don't like this time frame at all, i would prefer it spawn say every last weekend of the month just for a couple of days and then vanish till the next month again. Maybe it should be part of a new season where it gets refreshed on every new season reset
Unless there plan is to have events like wow and they are going to release regular event content i almost find 11 months of not available a total waste, prehaps i am reading this all wrong.
i agree dlc and packs are nice but where is fixes for stuff what needs fixing PARAGON system and some more bigger problems.
Lets see today what they mean with Challenge Rifts,
new feature, will be coming next year. They will be an even playing
ground: Paragon levels, Augments, full Ancients - none of that will
matter in there. More info on them tomorrow.
Stay cool...
There will be a Dev Talk today, so maybe we will hear more about upcoming content and the future of D3. I hope they are aware of the Paragon Grinding problems, so that there will be a major patch coming next year with the release of the Necromancer Character Pack. This sounds like they are going to make more Character Packs or even Map Packs or Acts to buy. If this is the way they are going, I'm all in.
With that event: yes for now this is a anniversary Patch for the month of January, they plan to make more Events like this. So we will see...
1.) ROS is really overpriced to me with less contents, I bought it because they said there will be Patches in the future. And one Rip-Off Paladin doesn't really cut it for 40. But as a fan I bought it. Now they require us to "buy" a character pack Necromancer, which should have been included in the expansion in the first place. I feel that they ask as to buy a band aid for a diablo game which did not follow the aesthetics of a dark fantasy Diablo.
2.) 2 new maps? so? Last time I heard Ruins of Sescheron and GreyHollow Island is boring as hell. Just another area with nothing in it but boring bounties and pathetic reskin and recycle 3D models. Sure GHI area has the aesthetic feel and the blue eyed zombies that looks like white walkers from Game of Thrones that's a thumbs up. BUT for what sense are those extra areas just...Kanai Cube? then what. And the pets doesn't really do anything besides picking up gold...they didn't even help you attack mobs...no abilities. Feels like those cosmetic pets are the same with the devs...they are only best in picking up gold nothing more NO TALENT for the Diablo Genre. What will I do for those banners? wipe their a**es?
3.) bet those skeletal summons are limited to 5 and is doubled with a special item. When you use them you're Necromancer doesn't do anything. So lame. The only thing decent on the preview was the Corpse Explosion and Bone Spear... No Spirit Bomb and the Curse doesn't use tongues of fire when cast instead they use a magic circle ... I'm a bit skeptical on how they create the curse ability. Furthermore, Necromancers must look really old and pale as told in Diablo 2 ad in a magazine. And Bone Armor isn't there YET (i hope). For now I pass.
4.) Feels like they really DON'T LISTEN to their fans but the VOICE OF MONEY. NO PASSION. NO VISION. NOT DIABLO. If they really listened how come the game is still for kids, non-dark, not dark fantasy. Seriously, M rating in there is just not true. I hate to say but it seems the dark fantasy game like Diablo doesn't deserve this Acti-Bli$$ard. Better SELL THE RIGHTS for the company with the right talent, vision of a dark fantasy, aesthetics, dark, gritty and grim! Seeing how these other "Diablo-like" games who patterned their games from Diablo itself which almost all of them do what Blizzard should've done is really sad and frustrating to see as a fan. I played Diablo 1 when I was 6 and Diablo 2 later years and to tell you the truth Diablo 3 is really NOT A DIABLO GAME but looks like a spinoff B-movie of a Diablo Genre.
5.) Birthday is today, and this annoying of attitude of theirs that keeps manipulating people out of capitalism instead of passion really ruined my day. I lost my respect for Bli$$ard congrats from a long fan.
6.) I know there's a part 2... let's see if they change my mind.
The announcement is not what I wanted but I am not mad at what we are getting. What I don't like is the Necro pack is coming second half of 2017. The armory and mats tab are coming in 2017. Challenge rifts are not coming until 2017. All major changes to the actual game are so far out. Had they not wasted there time building the original Diablo in the game we could get real upgrades to the game in a reasonable time. Don't get me wrong I have nothing against the original game but it is a 1 play through thing. The mentioned changes are quality of life far more important than nostalgia...

The GR revamp may be nice, but at the end it really depends how it actually turns out in game.
So lets see what today has to add and lets wait for PTR next week to actually see it in game.
10 mins to find necro set gear with mats after that all same grinding paragons. I m in limbo of Diablo universe i don t think i might get out.
I'm sure the good people at Grinding Gear Games and Crate Entertainment were absolutely delighted at the announcements.
haha 10 min to find set gear yeah in your dream
Doing season achievements yes you get one set but to do it takes time not minutes maybe hours if you are so good at doing it!
But you are not getting perfect stats no chance you still have motivation to farm for better one (for ancient)
I'am happy with new hero, new skills, new items, different play style to kill monsters...
Overall all changes are good and welcome I will put another 100 hours of gameplay with new hero so it's more than other games can give you
