You know what I would love to see? For Christmas instead of Campaign being the choice, they have "Seasonal" added in.
When you enter that game, its a random dungeon filled with powerful mobs that drop season appropriate stuff like for Christmas, snowmen and reindeers and elves attack you dropping Dagger of the Mistletoe. And the baddy is called Daddy Red.
It would not have to be actually useful items that drop but vanity items, I can deal with having a Christmas hat (Would actually love if they implemented a Vanity armor section like in Terraria where you still wear your armor but only the appearance changes)
And I'm sure people will hate this idea but Holloween would be really fun right? Heck, to be able to wear a white beard and red santa hat on my Witch Doctor? I'd pay $5 for that DLC, perhaps even a chance at more items you can disenchant.
No, I'm not trolling and yes I do like WOW. But why not have such things? It doesn't interfere with the main game at all, and how would it really differ from a cow level? Or if you want to stay in theme, a dungeon called Temple of Elemental Evil DLC.
Of course it would bee ideal if they were free DLC but since we're not paying a monthly fee, I'd be down for paid DLC of more dungeons.

Ehhh... how do I say this politely... no thank you.
That is just not the style that Diablo has. It's fine in WoW, Guild Wars, those kind of games. But not Diablo.
This was posted some time ago, I think years ago, but back then it was confirmed that our holidays do not exist in Sanctuary, and that we shouldn't expect anything like what they do for WoW. That might have changed by now, but the last official word was no.
Theres nothing wrong with DLC. Games like fallout 3 and borderlands handle it well, and the games replayabilty has been extended far beyond what it would have been. If done wrong, DLC can suck. Like if we're presented with 80% of a game and 20% is added as DLC later, that's bullcrap.
But if it is genuine, and Blizzard is trying to extend the game in a good direction, and it doesn't feel cheap, and it's worth the cost; I have no problem paying for DLC. WoW patches with new content come twice a year, maybe less, and it's usually not very much stuff (IMO). Why? because they arent really earning any more money by patching in the content in WoW (reminder: they have to pay people to work on games so if they arent making money off it, they're going to do the bare minimum). The WoW DLC is mostly there i think to keep people at max level paying them 15 bucks a month, and give them just enough content to stay occupied until the next patch, again, so they keep paying.
Diablo 3 doesn't have a monthly fee, it's free (aside from the box cost) and personally, i wouldn't mind DLC. One thing that makes me sad when i think of Diablo 2 is that it's pretty much been abandoned, albeit a few patches over the past 10ish years, not including expansions. If they were adding DLC this whole time, there'd be a ton more stuff to do in Diablo 2, tons of things that need fixed in the game would have been fixed all because there still would be a flow of money into Diablo 2 because the bottom line is that: money.
If Diablo 3 runs out of ways to make money, it'll be abandoned and i have the feeling i'm going to love the shit out of Diablo 3 and i dont really want it to be abandoned. With that said, i would mind a bit of paid DLC every now and then. If it means a team will stay on Diablo 3, then by all means, take my 10 dollars every 6 months for a few more dungeons and items. But at any rate that's just my reasoning behind being okay with DLC.
Also i think the idea of a santa/elves dungeon is stupid, but i dont think the idea of DLC is stupid.
I thI think theres nothing wrong with fun "not diablo-ish" events. However.. not for $5. A DLC that cost a fee, would need to fit in the diablo world, and be "badass", in which I would have no problem (and in fact would look forward) to DLC.

I agree, and I mispoke earlier, let me rephrase; I don't like the thought of DLC in the sense of the OP's thought. If the DLC is a continuation of the storyline, or something to do really with the main game (I mean the uber tristram was cool and all, but it did absolutely nothing with the game. We can't even count it as lore), then I would be all for it. I really don't see them running out of ways to make money, we have at least 1 (i thought I heard maybe 2?) exp packs planned, and while it's not a lot of money, the RMAH I think can make them some good pocket change.
I believe I was more raging on that kid wanting reindeer and santa outfitted skeletons in a dungeon. I'd rather have a whole new environment to fight in, or add say another color rune with completely new affects to skills =D

Hah, sounds like we're in agreement then. Yeah i think the santa and elves would be a bit much. I think the very most i could handle is maybe during winter season i can make my hat look like a santa hat on my barbarian, but that's about it.
...hat that looks like a santa hat... thinking with hats... i think i've been playing too much TF2 lately.
Actually yes, i have been playing too much Team Fortress 2...
As I wrote in a previous post a few days back: if I've figured something out from observing Blizz's actions over the last decade and a half, it's that they will not try and suck profit out of their games unless it's totally justified. DLCs are sadly not.
Here are the main arguments:
1. DLCs will let some people enjoy content others might not be able to. The Blues have learned a very hard lesson over the years and that is to never treat 2 gamers in different ways. I can only make comparisons to WoW, because obviously that's the closest recent product they've put out that compares to D3. The content patches that they release every 3-4 months (not once or twice a year as Malminos presumed) are for everyone and while some people may not be able to get in top raiding guilds and enjoy the same content as the second ones do - it's their own fault for either not wanting to spend the required time to raid seriously or not wanting to spend the required time to learn their class and/or social skills. DLCs will not come out of Blizzard in the near future, if ever.
2. Downloadable content is made so that single player oriented games can get a prolonged life and bonuses while the company can still make profit out of it. Contrary to what people think Diablo 3 will make a lot of money. There is only the boxed version of the game that is getting sold, sure. There are no monthly payments. But the cuts from the auction house will make a lot of players want to pay more to Blizz to put up their items on the AH and I've read enough forums about D3 where players say they'll try and make the most out of the RMAH. Not to mention the people that will surely play the AH, that might give Blizz a lot of money, but they'll definitely see that money return to them, when successful.
Also worth mentioning is that the RMAH is probably one of the best ways Blizz could've figured out to offer a way for people to give them a small fee without actually making them do so. A lot of people will pay simply because they like the game, or they like gambling, or they like thinking they've followed the Greedy Goblin for years now and can do just as well.
I remember when the Seasonal events question was asked and a Blue replied that such things won't happen in D3, but I honestly can't see them living up to those expectations. There are many seasonal events that can go right into Diablo, like Halloween, or an equivalent of the Darkmoon Faire that follows lunar cycles.
EDIT: In the end of the day what I was trying to point out is that we will see content patches that will offer new zones, new gear and new adventures, but they will not be in the form of DLC, but regular updates. I'm 95% certain we will see at least one before they announce the first expansion of the game.
Good to know there are people who would support DLC, and I totally agree that if D2 had DLC, we would have seen more more added to the game rather than just 1 patch every other year. The whole concept of battle.net was ahead of its time, good to see it come to fruition.
And this "kid" left kid-dom a long time ago, I love diablo as a game but think I love the mechanics of the gameplay and item collection more than I do the lore and such. So I'm ok with straying from the sacred cannon of Tristam and Sanctuary. Obviously I'm in the minority.

Like I mentioned a recreation of Temple of Elemental Evil and other such classic D&D dungeons?

"Stopped reading at DLC"
(now seriously, I'm totally against it, usually harms the game more than does any good)
Skipped down a post after reading the first sentence. THAT post said stopped after reindeer. I agreed, and didn't read further. NAY. nay.
