Well, goodbye and good riddance, you elitist prick.
This sort of attitude is the bane of all online games. Another stash tab is not an achievement, it doesn't define you as a more worthy player or not, it's just a quality of life improvement that blizzard "abused" to give an illusion of a reward for playing the seasons. There should be another more meaningfull reward for those players that invest the time and effort in the seasons.
Umm, he's saying he'd be pissed if he worked for something and someone else got it for free. I have to agree with him. That's hardly elitist.
People that think they deserve it without effort think they're entitled. That I don't agree with.
However, i think he's mistaken if he thinks anyone's gotten it WITHOUT earning it. I'v worked for and gotten each and every stash tab so far. That said, I'd still say I wasn't particularly a season player. Kinda conflicted I suppose...
I sincerely doubt that unlocking stash tabs by other means than playing seasons is going to happen anytime soon.
It got people that would otherwise not have played seasons doing it and it gave those who planned to do so (as Quel_Droma points out) a sense or reward after they stopped the seasonal first legendaries (which for reasons I never fully understood was winding up some non season players.)
However I do see where the most ardent defenders of this mechanism are coming from. If the roles where reversed and you would need to get achievement points to unlock the stash tabs and they would have to get their gear dyed blue to go kill bosses and reload game after game chasing that superunique that doesn't want to spawn or that event that is not in bounties and seems to have been removed from the game altogether instead of chaining GRs in seasons and I was sitting on my already unlocked stash tabs I would probably be tempted to be the one writing 'is really easy, only takes a few hours if you organise yourself' and 'sucks to be you' and 'you entitled prick that thinks that you should be rewarded for doing what you like to be doing.'
Said that if Bliz at some point decides that it would make sense to allow other means to unlock the stash tabs, even trivialise it by making them available to purchase with gold, no matter how much people think they have 'worked' for it and how much it rubs them the wrong way, they will go ahead and do it.
Kibu, I don't usually reply to idiots, but here goes...
The whole idea that I was explaining was that people shouldn't hold so dear something so small and lame, a QUALITY OF LIFE IMPROVEMENT, not wings, not a great achievement, not a uber-cool item....it's just a freaking stash tab. You worked for this? Are you actually saying that the only reason you played season is to get the stash tab? Cry me a river. Blizzard shouldn't use the stash tab as a carrot, this is something way to common. I do agree you should be rewarded for playing seasons, here are some examples I would deem worthy to cry for as you are now over the stash tab: Wings, unobtainable item in NS, pets, extra-experience (? just an idea, not sure if good or not)...I would definitely understand if you would be crying if blizzard handed out these kind of rewards. Blizzard should offer something unique, cool for seasonal players. The stash tab is just a pathetic replacement for that.
I don't think anyone can disagree that the rewards for playing season should be much cooler than this. Maybe give some additional rewards for players unlocking the seasonal achievements for 2-3 seasons in a row. There are many cool (AND VERY EASY TO IMPLEMENT) ideas that could be inserted in Diablo. Blizzard keep on demonstrating they don't really give a flying f**k.

I agree with the fact that the stash tab is the wrong reward for players to play seasons. Stash tabs are things that NS players and HC players need more of. Seasons I believe should get the cosmetic rewards. Not sure about items only obtainable in seasons. If this was the case, I think everyone will be playing seasons sooner or later as if there was an item that was necessary for a particular build, you wouldn't want to miss out on it. I was happy with the previous arrangement where seasonal players get exclusive access to certain items for a season and NS would get access at the end of seasons.
Personally, I think cosmetics are the way to go... isn't game breaking and lets seasonal players show off their accomplishments without breaking the game.

And this is why they implemented it as they did. The goal was to entice non-seasonals to play seasons. Seems to be working from what I'm reading.
I myself probably wouldn't play just for cosmetics unless they really struck me as cool. They usually don't. Not into banners, wings are good for maybe 90 seconds and then annoying.
Stash tabs to me are a quality of life improvement to be sure, but it IS a tangible improvement.
Yes, it's working in enticing NS players into Seasons. Though, I doubt many will stay after their entire stash is unlocked.
By my estimates, we'll be into S8 come end of November. I'll have all tabs unlocked by December on my main account... and a 9 tab stash on my alt account. If all goes to plan, I'll be resuming postgrad studies next year so may just have time to unlock that 10th stash tab on my alt account before studies ramp up. Definitely won't be playing Seasons after that and thankfully will only need to do S9 with one account.
I have to say the main reason I LIKE playing seasons lately is the unfettered stash space. yes I want the tab, but in seasons all my tabs are empty!
And, recently I have taken a more responsible approach to what I keep in them.
Last season's end was miserable, I don't want to sort through all that again!!! Just keeping specific class stuff only, and just Ancients for the most part.
the goal is to fit everything from season into the one tab I'm gaining. Sounds like a plan anyway.
We need to pressure Blizzard to give us a stash tab for each character that is character specific. That way every character can store their own set armor and misc weapons etc that go with them. There really is no need (or excuse) to clutter my Monk's stash with my Witch Doctors sets. As in games like World of Warcraft there is a Guild Vault and a Character Vault. Lets have an Account Stash and a Character Stash.

I guess if there ever will be XPAC2, it will come "standard" with 10 stash tabs, so that will be the time to "catch up".
