A map hack for Diablo3 is unlikely.
The new BNet will probably have such high security that not even a third party program can compromise it.
I believe that's why Blizzard is updating BNet to this extent, and that's to stop hacking altogether for both WoW, SC2, D3 etc...
Most likely all of Blizzards new releases will be run off of BNet 2.0
Just my .02 cents.
Well, of course BNet 2.0 will have better security, but it won't be impossible to break it. The old bnet's anti-hack protections are primitive and absolutely horrible. Its obvious the improvements will be big there.

Well of course it wont be impossible, but it will most likely be very difficult to cheat.
Yes, the old BNet is very old, and out of date, that is why the new BNet should hold up much better, and longer than the old version, that's a given.
I actually look forward to seeing if anyone can crack BNet 2.0, and see how quickly Blizzard will put a stop to it.
BNet 2.0 is their new baby, lmao so I doubt they will treat it with disregard like they did the old BNet.
 Cheers.

Spambots are impossible to block. The only thing they do is post messages and join games. The best way to prevent them is through CD-Key bans for a while. The problem is how to detect them. Rewarding people for reporting them is a good solution. If X amount of people reports a bot, then it gets a temporary ban and the reporters gets a reward. It could also reduce its reputation, making the next ban longer than the previous. The reputation would go up a bit after a day, that way it won't punish you too much if you happen to spam too much once every week. The only problem with that is to stop idiot clans from ganging up and banning people for fun... Blizzard can't have 1K mods checking every report.
Which is defiantly the problem in such a system. Some players and clans would probably use it just to get rid of people. Some may even do it just for fun. So it might just be better to get rid of the reward system all together and just hope players report other players. If enough people are pissed hopefully they all know to report the spammer and that person will be dealt with. But adding rewards or motivation to the equation just leaves to much room for bias.
I'm sure that security will be tighter. Spam bots will probably still be around, but I don't think they will be nearly as frequent at D2.
As for map hack, when I started playing D2, I always used mousepads maphack. I liked it because I new exactly where to go and skip all of the unnecessary stuff. After Blizzard started banning people for using maphack, I stopped using it. After not having it around for a couple of games, I really got used to it and did not really find it a problem. The whole point of a game is to enjoy the whole thing or else why do they even waste their time adding in everything else?
Just how everyone accepted the fact that the art style is not going to be changed, people will get used to playing without maphack and forget about it.
I can't play in a D2 session without the whole screen going up in flames with advertising messages and shit unless I play by myself and either make the room private or keep it to one player max.

Watching 240 guys talk trash about cavaliers is like two retards having a slapfight over a sippy cup.
My guess, is that when there are recurring messages in the chat, there will just be timeout's.
If you repeat the same thing twice within 2-3 minutes, your squelched automatically for, lets say 1 minute.
Maybe not quite like I said, but Blizzard will probably have something along those lines.

Nobody wants to skip content the first or even 10th time through, but when you have run a boring pointless dungeon with nothing to offer for the 1000th(probably a lot more times then this) time the fun is really gone in the exploration part.
Maphack being for retards and ungifted players has to be one of the worst comments ive seen on here in a long time lol....so I guess theres a lot of retards and ungifted players out there eh? Just because they were sick of trying to find durance 3 stairs and just wanted to find them faster.
Its not about content being boring. If you think a game is boring why do you play it? No matter how small the cheating is you do it is still retarded. Cheat is a cheat if you can't manage without it you have failed in the game.
Maphack helps in a lot more ways than just finding places quick.. I've made over 100 characters and never needed a maphack to find the next area. The areas are small and simple and you can just bash the monsters dead while looking for the next area and gain exp/items. Many people in HC wanted to use maphack because it shows you all the monsters and bosses and their abilities. Without maphack everything comes with a surprise.
Also maphack used to have this ability to scroll the screen.. so for example with amazon in duel you could scroll the screen and mouselock the guy and shoot guided arrows like hell straight at them.. if thats not a case about player being ungifted then what is?
And yes there are huge amounts of retards in Battle.net. I've seen it during 9 years.

No one that still plays Diablo 2 "Needs" maphack to find the next set of stairs down in the durance or any other area. I haven't played the game in years and I still probably know every major area in the game. When you're running your thousandth character through you want to make it as quick and painless as possible.
In the end this topic is going no where fast and hasn't been going anywhere for the last 14 pages so I guess we should just drop it and move on with our lives. There's no real discussion here, it's just people flaming eachother for no reason other than a difference in opinion.
I know it's probably a little to early to be thinking about it, but it was extremely useful in diablo 2. I was extremely dissapointed when they banned use of it. Given it did get a little out of hand with the whole incomming missle detection and a few other features. It sure made those lvl1,2,3,4,5 staircases alot easier to locate
I myself find this statement confusing. So SoulBlighter is in support of MapHack? So It would seem and with that in mind, comes controversy among other DiabloFans.
So, this thread really is just here to start arguments.
Which has been the past 14 pages.

I dont think the game is boring and neither do the thousands of people who played the game non stop over the years have but whats exciting or surprising about teleporting or running to durance 3 or the throne room for the millionth time...nothing!!!!! At least im sure thats how the vast majority of players feel.
About the other things that come with a MH...well I wasnt discussing those thats a entirely different discussion really.
EDIT: Zoobi has a post that better explains what im trying to say here...so read his
What is a discussion if not 2 or more people talking about their different opinions?
You're not discussing. You're throwing your hands over your ears and going "LA LA LA I'M RIGHT YOU'RE WRONG LA LA LA". Neither side is providing any kind of constructive feedback, you're more or less flaming each other and getting no where. As xXSoulXx said, this thread is nothing but flamebait.

All I can think about is if there are consequences if you abuse the system yourself and report a overly false case/cases....

actually once you get to the point where you have the gear Maphack is not needed just join a Hell Baal bot runner.

AS long as there is way to cut around the corners in a game people will do it.
I'd say the majority of D2 players out there use some 3rd party program.
Actually everyone who plays D2 cuts corners in the game to progress.
