Alright, for all of those previous Diablo fans, we all know the average level of skill required to be "good" at Diablo or Diablo 2. The skill ceiling doesn't allow you to improve much. You crawl before you can... crawl.
So how do you think Blizzard might improve the gameplay in order to allow for a higher skill ceiling while maintaining their approachability that they have stated they want to inherit from the previous games?

Why can't a heterosexual guy tell a heterosexual guy that he thinks his booty is fly?
"The certain prospect of death could sweeten every life with a precious and fragrant drop of levity, and now you
strange apothecary souls have turned it into an ill-tasting drop of poison that makes the whole of life repulsive." -Nietzsche
Skill "ceiling" in PvP was much higher than in PvM...PvM = spamfest without any though really required. And the Devs have already stated that they're working on this to make playing more thought provoking.
That's great that they've spoken on this. I'm certain that they will do a great job with it, but I want to discuss how they might go about doing it. It seems like a daunting task to have a steady learning curve and still leave room for intense play late-game.

With no more potion spam, the devs said the move to utilize skill and tactics more was going to be done through the promotion of actually using your spells, abilities and the movement of your character as reactions to tough situations rather than spamming potions. This is paraphrased from what they said in exact words. They no longer want the "Oh crap, spam pots" knee-jerk reaction but rather "Oh-crap, alright whirlwind my way towards this ramp and then leap onto the next platform" kind of thinking.
I hope the PvM has a lot more skill involved. PvP will always have a higher skill ceiling.
The Barb could have tanked the Boss and easily killed him, Barb was overpowered for the Demo. They were just showing off the skills.
Doubt it. Two of the Four members of that party got killed, by the boss picking them up and biting their head off (bard) or breathing fire in their face and slamming them down (witch doctor). I think the whole tactic of that fight was to not be in melee range. Or at least make sure you were hitting it from behind.

Thought it was referring to the Thousand Pounder...
Oh... Well in that case ya. But the barbs kept range in the Siegebreaker Assault Beast also. Or hit him from behind.

Ya.. If I see a Boss pick up one of my teammates and bite his/her head off, I'll think twice about standing there trying to tank.

Yea the skills give variety of ways to solo one strong mob and that is cool aspect, It means different ways to play with same character.
Can you imagine it in pvp/pk? very intensive.
I think it will be much higher in D3, becuase of the interactive backround, at very least it will require much more thought on, what's the best way to get past this part in one piece.
PS. And yes, like others said, PvP required alot more skill then PvM.
Yeah the skill thing should go until you want to stop... Of course there will be better players but thats why you need to make your character great. I never really liked the 1 to 21 skil thing... Its really annoying... Exactly... You crawl before you... crawl.
I think D3 is going to be W A Y harder than D2.....WOOT I WANNA GET PWNT BY A MILLION SKELLYS

I really like the discussion. After watching the gameplay video a couple of times and watching a lot of the dev forums on youtube from the WWI I think that the PvM will focus a lot on what they referred to as "positional strategy". You have to decide where the most advantageous spot is to be, and things like health orbs will also add to this by making players go places where they might otherwise not want to be (i.e. a health orb spawns on the other side of a horde of demons, therefore you have to leap/whirlwind/hank n' slash through them to get to your health).
On a side note, hope everyone had a good forth of July.

I think they've already improved it:
*Hotbar for skills
*Various skill combos
*Positional gameplay
*Smart gameplay (using physics to your advantage)
*No health potions(this means you must use your skills smartly and more effectively)
Its very good actually from the get go and considering its still in pre-alpha stage, thats just amazing!

Diablo 3 is graphically and artistically great, there needs to be variety in the game, instead of only plain and dark areas!
+Wouldn't it be better and more interesting if from a sunny beautiful day, mist starts covering the screen, rain starts falling, thunders and lightning striking and it starts to darken, instead of constant dark!?

Scripted events. The two that died from the boss at the end were tagged on at the very end to 'show what a real fight was like'. It was still entirely scripted.
*No health potions(this means you must use your skills smartly and more effectively)
Health potions are still in. They simply stated that you won't be using them like you did in Diablo 1 and 2. Instead of drinking a million, you'll use them in dire situations.
