Yes please blizzard make it like WORLD OF WARCRAFT make this a MMORPG I love WoW!!! Diablo was too dark please make this a bright happy new warcraft game with a monthly fee and call it diablo for no reason!
I never said make it like wow. Please, point out where i said that.
They could always just charge for things like the ability to create guilds and stuff like that. That would probably suffice without having to impact every single player. They make way more than enough money in a week to be able to patch up WoW with new content.

zomg i live in the past and don't like change. Probably voted for Bush because was too afraid of change. It's called Diablo because of the lore.
i dont think monthly fees will keep kids out of the game to the extent that you want it to, murderotica,
however, IF a monthly fee would mean meticulous updates and bug fixes and balancing and the like then i'm all for it.
in fact how about a monthly fee for the use of BATTLE.NET only that way you could play both Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 for just the purchase cost and one monthly fee! (i think this idea was already posted though)
anyways with or without a monthly fee the game will be fine but i'm not opposed to shelling out a few calms to enjoy it. (and this is coming from a poor college student >_<!!!)
No monthly fee. All of your reasons for it are stupid.
Valve does weekly updates to most of their games, without a subscription fee. It seems like more little kids play wow than ever played diablo II(per capita). So you're too arguments for Subscription are null and void.
And as for the $15, stfu. You have not right, room, or credentials to comment on what other people can or can't afford. Why don't you save your $15 a month, and give it to a worthwhile cause.
I know a lot of people miss manage money and spend it on a lot more stupid shit.
And yes, more kids play wow but that has a lot of other factors. One, as the years go on more and more kids are spending time on the computer playing games. Also, WoW has a teen rating not a Mature one. Also the style of the game factors in as well.
Guess you can always rely on the mod community to give the game more lastability like D2 as apposed to subscription. Still It would be nice to see at the end of every week: 20 new Unique weapons, New areas, Skill Balance, 4 New monsters ect for a mere $10... a month, if you cant afford $2.50 a week thats pretty sad.
I been lurcking around this forum for about a week and finally registered. I just wanted to add my thoughts in about this. Read before you flame please.
There are many reasons I would like there to be a monthly fee, or at least wouldn't mind it.
1. Keep the kiddies out. I am tired of 14 year old punks ruining my gaming experience. With a monthly fee, that is payable by credit card not game card, it would get rid of a lot of immaturity and would result in a better game. The game is rated M for a reason. Go watch your bob the builder and leave the gaming to the adults, thanks.
2. If blizzard plans to regularly update this game like wow, then I don't mind one bit paying for the content. It would give extra money to blizz for new enhancements and whatnot. We were all complaining about how d2 hardly ever got updated. Well, why should they when they have no reason incentive to. Added levels, bosses, items, bug fixes, and world events is way worth the cost to me.
There are many other reason however those are the main two.
Also, something else i thought of. Let say they start out with a fee of 5-10 dollars a month. Thats cheap as hell. However, every time you are caught using a hack, cheat, or exploit they raise that price 5 dollars. It would be a incentive not to cheat because it would start effecting the wallet.
Lastly, to the people who say they they cant afford a monthly payment. Honestly, if you cant afford 15 bucks max a month then you really need to get a better job or something and not play games. Im sorry, but if you are struggling to pay that small ammount of money you have other issues.
Bring your lunch to work 3 days a MONTH and save that money.
Dont spend 19 bucks at the movies and have that money.
Dont buy a case of beer and you can have the money.
If you are responsible with it you can easily find extra money.
Well thats my two cents, flame on.
I don't know if anyone has added rebuttals to your post, because I'm not reading through all these pages however.
1. A fee wont keep 14 year old kids out. Um look at wow?
2. Blizzard will upate the game for free just like they have with D2
3. How about they just ban the cheaters?
4. You should not have to make these sacrafices to play a game. The economy is tough right now and $15 a month adds up. Ever add 15x12? that's 180 thats $180 Dollars I could put towards my car or creditcard.
However I'm not all against your idea. I would be willing to pay $10 a month for D3 as its not as beefy as WoW but your argument for it is rather week.

Thank you.
You get what you pay for. It would be well worth the money.
I have an idea... how about people who want to pay a monthly fee can, and they can get some exclusive content, ie a special mission, while others cannot get that mission. of course they would then have to implement 2 different game types, exclusive member games and non, kinda like ladder vs non ladder or lod vs classic games.
Hopefully blizzard will use horror with new graphics to keep kids from playing. A monthly fee will end up limiting the number of players online. Plus 15 bucks over 2 years is 180 bucks and im not sure a 180 bucks and the price of the game combined is a price I or other "cheap scapes" are willing to pay.Considering u get addicted and play over a year.
ur mean im only 13 and i make no money but im nice and fair and i stop scammers ur really saying you dont want me playing a game ive waited for my whole life I HATE YOU!

Like I said before. Kids play wow for a lot of reason. Most of them use game cards, not credit cards to play. Plus wow has a T rating not an M
2. Blizz rarely updated d2. Why not pay an extra 10 or 15 a month for added content regularly.
3. Thats good too lol
4.I understand. But people pay a lot more for other recreational stuff. Instead of a case of beer play a game. Sacrifice going to a movie 1 night a month and have the money for it. Its not really sacrificing its just reorganizing your priorities.

Your whole life? Well considering d1 was made around your birth I guess that is valid lol.

this wont stop younger kids from playing, nor does it ensure updates

Ahh this was what i meant earlier when i said i thought that Flagships plan for Hellgate's subscription was good just Executed poorly and by poorly i mean released un-finished game and slapped together a money making con. Blizzard however would be able to do what they tried to do properly. So your cheap ass's can play the original game, play lan, play online. Subscribed = the same stuff + new content a few more options.
There will be no monthly fee, and it wouldn't keep the "kiddies" out.
How would they ruin your game on Battle.net where you make your own games and can password them? This isn't making much sense to me... It's not open world like WoW, have you played D2?
