Blizzard haven't been pioneering since the original Diablo in my opinion. What they are great at is combining all the best elements of a genre into a polished game.
You don't need to be innovative to create great games, it can help but it's not essential.
after extensively playing wow and diablo 2 LoD and seen all of their pioneer elements one thing im interested to see is value in each talent/skill point available. as many of u wouldve noticed theres plenty of talents/skills that never get used. if these were balanced it would open up the game to endless combinations and personal strategies in skill choice especially for hybrid builds. however i think the area most easily accessible to innovation is the pvp system in diablo 3. despite the narrow "hostile" system for pvp in diablo 2 many ppl had a pvp focus and i myself considered it the ultimate goal end game. carrying the diablo system which is very different to wow im interested to see wat they will do knowing how much ppl enjoy pvp.
