....But i was thinking about a good control scheme, very simillar to the pc version of Diablo 2. First of all the graphics would look just like Diablo 2. You would control your character with the bottom touch screen by touching on the screen with the stylus in the direction you want to move. The same way you click in the direction you want to move in diablo 2 for PC. As for combat, instead of clicking on an enemy to attack him, you would simply touch him with the stylus to land a blow. The top screen would display a far more detailed map than diablo 2 and would also display your opponets health and your health. Potions could be hotkeyed to the L and R back buttons. Drag and drop armor via touch screen, Distribute skill points with it, shop, Etc.... Basically touch takes the place of the mouse in this game.
Oh yeah. I'd like to see you be able to use L & R while having that stick in your hand. I'd also like to see you hammering away at the screen until it breaks while your're fighting Diablo on Hell.

PhrozenDragon, You obviously have never played a DS. You dont have to pound the screen to get it to work. The screen will respond to fairly light touches. And yeah a lot of games that i have for my DS does use the L button while using the touch screen. Simply hold the DS with your left hand and your finger on the L button (the ds is light in weight so this is no problem at all) And hold the Stylus in your right hand for the touch screen. You wouldnt be able to use R, but mana potions could be hotkeyed to the D-pad since it wont be used for anything else.
i dont expect any new Diablo to look like Diablo 2 (and i dont really think something better would work graphics-wise on a DS), and the controls would be too tricky. Moving around with the stylus might work but the rest of the controls (combat, skill using and swapping, weapon sets changing etc) wouldnt. First since people naturally panic on the sight of many mobs and usually hammer the mouse buttons. Doing the same with the stylus would just destroy the console (or the stylus). One more thing is that Diablo is bit too mature to use on a handheld that mainly aims for younger ages (as most nintendo consoles do).
They dont have to do something Drastic, Like write a new chapter in Diablo's storyline for this. It could merely be Diablo 2 with maybe A few New items and some New Quests thrown in.

About the way people like to "hammer" the mouse buttons. In New Super Mario Bros. There are many different Fast paced mini games including "Whac- a-Monty" which is just a Whac-a-mole game. You have to rapidly tap the screen as some might say "hammer" the screen. In this mini game everything goes just fine. Its because the DS screen is more durable than most think and that your stylus hand is close to the DS when you play. ( Pen is held about the distance from your paper when writing.) The stylus's tip is also nubbed and round. Because the Stylus is held close to the screen you dont pull your hand back very far to tap the screen. Basically im saying that rapid pounding on screen is really just rapid light taps. Imagine trying to punch someone hard only using your hand and wrist (without moving your arm) and holding your clenched fist only centimeters away from your target. You just cant do it. Many fast paced touch games are made for DS including a "touch shoot mode" in Metroid prime hunters. (Imagine tapping rapidly to shoot a rapid fire weapon.) The only way to break the screen is to pull back throwing actual punches at the screen.
There is a big difference there. You are referring to a mini-game, and during those circumstances you know what do to in an outlined "mission" (or whatever). Plus it often pays of to have rhytm rather than speed in that kind of game.
But in Diablo there are unknown factors all teh time, and people panic. I know this myself from how I usualy play. And I would not want to be Nintento when complaints come in regaring broken equipment.

So where's the insane hammering against hoardes of monsters? Where's the point where the character flees in panic as Oblivion Knights and Infector of Souls chase him?
I do not doubt that you can move perfectly fine on a DS, but the intensity is what I doubt.

we have already have had one rpg screw up on hand helds why do wo need more. (brother hood of the blade for psp is worst then Runscape hell runescape looks like a good game copared to it)
yeah diablo is totally made for computer I had a little bitchfit when I found out when diablo was made for the first playstaion.
Yes Diablo Started on the computer but that doesnt mean It always has to be For Pc. More and more people buy console systems every year and Console gaming is bigger than computer gaming. Even if a Diablo handheld isnt the answer that still doesnt mean Diablo has to always be kept on a PC.
I'm not totally dissing it I just think it should be a classic for pc thats all. I've had so many good time with diablo and my computer, A long story short I have craped myself playing diablo NO JOKE.
I see no problem about D3 being on a bigger consile though. Personally I hate using the analog stick for mini-stuff, which would be to pick up items or hitting the yes/no button in the buy screen, and that is where my main concern comes from.
