it dosnet matter what it says in the movie area. If u looked at the newly filed Diablo Patent on December 9, 2005, it says that it was a trademark for video gaming rights. It said nothing to do with Movies. So, therefore the movie thing is probably not true or false.
I disagree.
First off, there is no 'movie area.' In addition, it didn't 'said nothing to do with movies;' It did. And finally, the US Patent Office is not, 'not true,' or 'false.'

I have forgotten your inability to show mercy for the uninformed, Cyks.
Any mention in a company's trademark for a particular product, or products, that seems like it may be unrelated to the initial product is simply to cover one's bases. In this case, the next registered trademark may have registered for things like merchandising items, i.e "Diablo Toothpaste" or "Diablo Backpacks", Diablo Movie(s), a Diablo T.V. series, or what-have-you in addition to the game so that the rights to these things belong solely to the parent company.
This may be to actually put these things on the market, or, which is more likely the case, to keep other companies from producing Diablo-related merchandise that the parent company doesn't want associated with the game. All of what I say is speculation, of course, given that I have not yet read the new registration, but this is most likely the case.

Nobody can give you freedom. Nobody can give you equality or justice or anything. If you're a man, you take it.
Unfortunately, there is always that chance. A confirmed sequel to Diablo 3 can never be proved until Blizzard themselves announces it. All we can do is cross our fingers and be optimistic.

Always fun to come on here and read new things about a possible D3, however i must refuse to believe any of it until blizzard announces the game. This indeed seems pretty strange that diablo has just recently put a patent out though, but then again it could mean a number of things.

That is simply not true. He has as much information as I do, and I have ensured that he was provided with it. Nice to see you again BTW, lol.

Is there ne chance that this patent could just have something to do with the diablo book that just came out... idk ne thing bou tthis patent crap jw
There is no mention of books in the newest trademark. Books were covered in one of the previous trademarks. This trademark give us a 99% chance that D3 will be released, to suspect otherwise is just pessimistic. Businesses do not muck with the US patent office for no reason, they typically have some goal orientated, and if one thinks that goal is toward toothpaste, movies, socks and underwear, there may be no hope of proving to one otherwise, because I just cannot fathom that sort of reasoning in order to create some opposing points. Besides, Blizzard has already confirmed that they would ‘revisit Diablo universe in the future.’ Work on Diablo3 has been confirmed by numerous unrelated sources. Blizzard still has job postings for Diablo-related work, which means they are still budgeting money for the development…. What more do we need, people? There remains only the question of time, not the fact in general.

Good news to hear cyks i must say. As i said before i have no knowledge of any type of patent work so i was wondering cause of the timing of the patent and book being noticed around the same date. Oh, and thanks for quoting me it makes me all warm inside lol

There is the possibility they are just making sure they have the rights for future use, not necessarily right now. Because a lot of companies patent and trademark things they're not necessarily going to work on right now, but just to protect their interests, and they coudl be just renewing it from diablo 2 in case it was coming up for expiring.
But yeah, lets hope hey, I hope there is an announcement this year sometime. That would kick arse. The only other game i am hanging out this much for is Oblivion.

Another thing, im not sure if battle.net does this for every game, but with most games before they are announced they have announcement splashes when you go to the website, perhaps this will give us an early heads up if they do it for d3, when you see the splashes its usually around a week or so i think before the announcement. Then again i really do not know much about the splashes as i have only seen them once which was announcing blizzcon, i could be completely wrong on this subject....
But if i am right, that means announcement splashes will start pretty soon if PCGamer has the d3 info

Go to the "portal home" which is on the main menu up top, left hand side... then scroll down a ways where it shows the news, a few posts down the webmaster put the directions there, that should help you.

How do you get to see that page again? I went and did what you said but when I got to the list of patents the only Diablo related items were Diablo and Lord of Destruction. Am I in the wrong spot? It didn't have any information about a possible Diablo III when I looked. Could someone tell me what I might be doing wrong?
The trademarks will not say Diablo 1, Diablo 2, or Diablo 3. They all just say Diablo, all three of them. LOD says LOD, that is the only exception, because it is an expansion that branches off of the trademark of Diablo 2

I did happen to come across a "Diablo II: Salvation"
I don't know if that means much though. I noticed it was pattened around 2003 or 2002. you'll have to re-check.
Cmon guys, Diablo 3 is under the trademark I pointed out earlier.
Diablo II: Salvation will be a collection of all of the CGs found in the game, nothing more, nothing less. It is fairly old news, dating back before any one of us regitered for these forums.
I repeat, Diablo II: Salvation will not be a game.

It depends on which "diablo" trademark you picked, there are three, all nearly identical, except for small deatils like dates

Well xaja, that would be a very little amount of information considering it hasn't been released yet
