I don't follow the game that much but decided to finally start the season last night. I usually play the minute the season drops and stay with the leaders for whichever class I play for about a week when I decide to do other things. Just looking at this last night and this morning in a week people are up a ridiculously high paragon so far, and even within 24 hours people were up to over 500. I feel the game is scaling a lot quicker than it should and has really put me off of playing the game in general. I'll probably play to test out this seasons new stuff but really after that I don't find myself investing that much time in the game. Now I know you get what you put into the game and I'm not saying I should have the same chance that a person whom puts in 12hrs + a day. But isn't the game paragon levels getting a little out of hand?
He promotes the idea of not rushing over the Leveling and Gearing part, thus increasing the longevity of the time where every new item is exciting and opens a completely different style of play.
And he mentions another point, yes there are leaderboards, but no one has any advance of rushing trough everything now. Most of the time the highest leaderboard places will be settled at Season end, where some groups get their secrets builds and compositions out.
The only real advantage to rushing now is one having more chance to get into Top 1000 Rankings.
Not to sound snarky, but this is Diablo. It's supposed to get out of hand with ridiculous power. One of my pet peeves is hearing people constantly pine for more balance just due to the presence of leaderboards, but Diablo has never been about balance. Rather, it has always been grossly strong items an obscene, vulgar display of power.
I don't know if this is because this is the first seasons that I have actually committed to, but I can't friggin stand that I can't push past T4 because nothing drops for me. Personally, I would like to feel more powerful at some point and that is just not happening. I know we have a while before the season is over, but the lack of upgrades and feeling powerful is disengaging compared to my non-season characters that are pretty well geared and can help me gain power faster. Honestly, I feel like I have wasted playing time by focusing on my new monk in season 4.

A testament to the potential rigors of RnG. I've been super busy and cannot seem to get much time, but only at para 120-ish I was cruising t6 solo. Still no full set though.
Unless you genuinely believe you are in the top 0.1% in the world - in skill, dedication and playtime - then just treat the leaderboards as a curiosity, nothing more.
Oh, I'm not new to the game. I have been around for a while.
In terms of getting carried. I got some help getting to 70 really fast (thanks again Wings), but I felt really bad about it later. I like to earn my power and feel I didn't do so there. I would feel the same way about gearing up if I leeched for gear.
I guess I'm not thinking more along gear wise because it's total RNG for a reason, it is diablo, but Paragons are really getting out of control IMO.
You really shouldn't let other people's progress bother you. If they want to spend their entire days leveling and gaining a paragon level advantage over everyone else that comes at a cost. At least you have more free time then they do.

Definitely not the case. I've been on Staycation till season came out. I've just been playing FFXIV because I enjoy the game more. It's just what took a whole season to get close to. is taking only a few days now.

Hi User,
ZiggyD did a nice video about the rush at the start of a season :
