I don't do seasons, play crusader and have tons of mats. The upgrade cube formula works the same as Kadala? There are too many 2 hand weapons to get an ancient furnace... I think i need to do T7 bounties to reroll the furnace i have and hope to get a nice ancient one before the regular 10 attempts... Thoughts?
Edit: if you upgrade a 2 hand mace you get 1 the 10 legendary maces? In that case, you will get an ancient furnace every 100 attempts... (1%) maybe earlier if you have luck
Collect blood shards, try to find a furnace from Kadala (does not have to be an ancient one), do T7 bounties to find lots of mats and try reforging your furnace to get an ancient one. This way is probably the easiest&fastest one.
If you upgrade a 2h mace, you have a 5.26% chance for it to be a Furnace (source). So on average, one out of 20 upgraded rares may be a Furnace, and one out of 200 may be an ancient Furnace. As pointed out by Wudijo's math (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rqsw9MtKB00) it's not smart to hope for an *ancient* version of rare items (such as a Furnace), so you're better off to upgrade rares until you get a Furnace and then re-roll it into an ancient one.
That being said: In most cases you don't even need or want an ancient Furnace, you'll just use the Furnace effect in your Cube and equip a well-rolled, easier to get item.
Thanks for the math! I am thinking in leveling my gems in 2.3. A strong and slow weapon for my shield bash with nice elite bonus equipped (furnace) and the envious blade affix in the cube, for easy white trash clearing... (whites are now more important in GR)

(Sorry for my English)
I got my first Furnace the FIRST 2h mace I cubed. Then I rerolled it and got it ancient. BOOM. <- mind = blown.

On PS4 though, maybe % are different on consoles.
Re-roll legendary gives you the same item, not a random of the same type. Upgrade rare recipe works like Kadala.
That's the point of the re-roll legendary. You need to first find the item you are targeting, and then you can re-roll it until you get a nice one.
However it's not cheap, so you should probably use the cube for the weapon, and use Kadala for your armor pieces.
And yes, you should do T7 bounties, as at that point you start to get 8 mats per act, as long as you follow the bonus act.
Ok, bounties then (I have 2 crappy Furnaces, 1 to extract and 1 to reroll). Thanks all!
