As
we all know for now carnevil is overshadowing other builds within the
WD class, however some of us don't want to play just 1 build with just
our fetishes, remember that we have DOGS AND GARGANTUANS as well for
pets not only fetishes, currently the zuni set just use fetishes as the
main damage dealers, the dogs are just to block and gain life per hit
through the rune, and gargantuan is not even usefull now with the
current carnevil build.
The fastest, easiest, time efficient for blizzard's devs way to fix
this is to change the Zuni Pox ring to a shoulder piece: so we can make
use of Tall man's finger, short's man finger, convention of elements,
unity, obsidian ring, focus + restraint, ring of royal.
Other important item to be used within the melee pet build is Tasker
and Theo which is a very pet oriented item (WD being the main pet class
should make usage of this) and remember we also have Ukhapian serpent
for a more tanky set up and The Homunculus for a sacrifice build.
Just by changing one ring to a shoulder piece will make a big
difference for the pet melee builds, and bring back old builds, so for
instance we have:
1) Time efficient, dev's don't need to create a brand new standalone shoulder legendary effect.
2) Opens up the possibility to use Mojos (named above and possibly
rework ones for future patchs) and Taskers and Theo which is essential
and lore driven item for the WD.
3) We can make use of the dogs now with tall man's finger, for a little aoe fire damage or single target poison dps.
4) Use of gargantuan with short's man finger, we have physical, fire poison runes for it.
5) Make use of Ukhapian serpent for more tank set up, although in
that case you must use ring of royal in the cube, diminishing the dps
output, just to balance things out.
6) Most important thing, we can actually use the Doggy skill and
Gargy skill for many things, leech life, reduce damage, dps (single
target and little aoe) and don't forget we have 3 passives for Dogs and
Gargs.
So just by changing the position of one of the set items, dev's can
create 4 or 5 more build variations + we will use old builds again just
like helltooth playstyle.
Same things happens with the demon hunter with the marauder set and
loaded for bear (just for an example): Yang's recurve bow (even if it's a
multishot item) gives 30 to 40% resource cost, focus + restraint, cube
convention or some other ring, calamity and cindercoat, and you have a
not so much old Set to play again and to make it better
Think about it, is just 1 change and gives more possibilities to our pets :3
Shoulder slot has been shot down a half dozen times. For reaosns including but not limited to
1) The set already has 7 pieces to wear. An 8th piece would necessitate deprecating the set or making a non-shoulder set piece legacy which has balance implications. Yes pox would have balance implications.
2) Kanai is going to allow TMF or SMF in a build without equipping it.
3) Dev's don't want every set using the same slots. They would rather add a competitive shoulder option (or actual real shoulder options in general)
If anything F&R need serious balance consideration. A 125% more damage bonus for slots with absolutely 0 competitive options is terrible.
yeah focus and restraint are pretty much top tier of rings now, convention is slightly competing with it. They could delete que ring and make a shoulder piece, it will still have 7 pieces, thing is none of the other sets in the game, talking about 6 piece set (not dual ring and amulet sets) have ring pieces on them.
I still don't see how they are going to introduce the capability for us to make use of our other pets for dps build, including passive for dogs and gargs and 2 beatiful rings for them, and I still don't see any awesome shoulder for pets or the WD in general, so basically we have 2 rings which we cannot use at their full potential, the 3 passives for dogs and gargs are 80% wasted. Thanks for the answer, the thing is how can we make use of the dogs, gargs, taskers, passive and the 2 mojos again like in previous patches? do you have any idea on how to make melee pet build with dogs or gargs as the main damage dealer viable again, so we don't waste rings, passives and mojos? would love to read some ideas man

The problem with "deleting" pox and making is a shoulder is that then you either have legacy poxes floating around or you have this massive mess updating poxes from ring to shoulder slots.
Devs have stated (repeatedly) that they want other items to actually have competing slots options. Shoulders are on their list somewhere presumably. After they finish fleshing out belts I imagine. Additionally the lack of a shoulder piece in zuni means you can (presumably) fit in a 2p bonus from supporting sets. Kanai's is a good first step to getting Gargs and Dogs into play again. A downtune on F&R (or a change to what skills you can have on your bar as a zunidoctor) would get other rings into ring slots.
How about a shoulder slot item that buffs garg? Because seriously thats about all it would take.
Does Focus and restraint benefit the WD? I mean you need to have a resource generating ability. What abilities generate resources for the WD that count towards this?
