Hi guys, so I have a WD mostly geared up, i just need a sunkeeper and harrington's really. I want to start a new class since jade WD playstyle is a little stressful and annoying. I was looking at DH for the marauder set, which appears to just be an upgraded version of the pet WD build. However, I also was considering the crusader, since I haven't played one and I don't have a melee class yet. I would probably go for the Darklight build or the shotgun build, whichever flail i got first. I'm moderately concerned that my low quality PC won't be able to handle the Darklight build due to the crazy particle effects and screen shaking, but that would be less of an issue. I just want to know which of these two is more rewarding to play, preferably from someone who has experience with both. Thanks!
DH is by far the easiest to play in T6. By easiest, i mean if you want to watch TV and eat a sandwich at the same time. They may not be the fastest due to the ramp up time for sentries, but so easy. Just imagine a pet WD where the pets never die. My problem with DH is that until you get Marauder 6 piece, they are very lackluster.
Crusaders involve more active playing, you actually have to hit your cool downs to play well. However, as you already mentioned, Darklight is really annoying. Try doing a Crusader loot share where everyone has a Darklight, your PC will die and you will go blind. Although Darklight and Shotgun builds are the most efficient, Crusaders have a number of really interesting weapons and shields which allows more diverse play than DH.
Switched from fire sorc (including woh) to WD (both pet w/ Jeram/TnT and full jade with Quetz/Sunkeeper), and a couple weeks ago to DH.
I'm finding the sentry build waaay more fun than jade WD, kinda like Zuni pet WD (ie, no toad spamming required) but with a (limited) tactical component as far as sentry positioning is concerned.
I only played crusader up to T2/T3, but didn't really enjoy it. I don't like Akarat's Champion, though, so the endgame set has little appeal for me, and I never got some of the game-changing weapons (Gyrfalcon's or Fate, for instance).
1) You should - ALWAYS - go for "whatever you like". If you feel like a melee class play crusader, if you feel like a ranged class go DH. As simple as that.
2) Note that it can take a very long time (unless you play 24/7 in multiplayer or RiF games) to gear up either of the classes towards the "end game content" everyone's talking about. The Sentry DH needs 5 pieces of the Marauder set, Tasker and Theo, and in the end you want decent weapons, a RoRG, SoJ, and the right amulet - all of this can take a long time to acquire. I personally felt that "gearing up" Crusader and WD are by far the easiest classes as they work even with mediocre equipment on mid-Torment levels, whereas most other classes need quite decently rolled items and in many cases specific items for T4+ (unless you play in a group that kills everything for you or you like excessive kiting in case of the DH). Don't assume to start your DH today and run a T6 Sentry build tomorrow... not gonna happen unless you're super lucky ;-)
3) If you don't have a strong preference as to which class you want to play, I think the ones who should help you to make a decision are you friends and clan mates you frequently play with (if that's the case). For example, in T6 groups with an EP monk the shotgun crusader is just insane and would probably be the better choice; in solo play the Darklight crusader or Marauder DH are probably both equally viable and I would go for whichever class you think you can gear up faster.

Amen. What Brother Bagstone said. The point is, fun is very subjective. I tend to enjoy a more ranged gameplay (even "close-range ranged"), so I've been playing wiz, wd and dh.
Your best bet would be to lurk in both classes' forums here and read about the top specs that don't require specific items, and fiddle around with each class for a bit. Play a few bounties, maybe a rift or two, and roll with whatever feels best.

RNG being what it is, this could go either way. I played my Crusader on and off for a few weeks, and he's still horribly undergeared and feels extremely weak above T2, whereas my DH got lucky and can faceroll T5 after only 2 weeks (insert link to RNG thread, yadda yadda yadda).
Can't argue with pet WD being the easiest class to enter mid-torment levels, though. T2/3 is comfortable with entry-level gear, and Tasker, Jeram or TMF can each easily bump you up a Torment level.

Its super easy to get full gear sets now. With RiF and the increased drop rates to set items with the latest patch, gambling them takes no time at all. Took me about two days to acquire full sets.

RNG can be a bitch sometimes... please don't suggest just because *you* can get a set in 2 days, everyone can. I haven't seen a single pair of EQ gloves after gambling for them for 2-3 weeks (10k shards? 20k shards? lost track). Freaking R.N.G.

Well with the latest patch, the sets have been brought up to same rate as Blackthrones (essentially doubling their rate before), should be easy.

I'm well aware of that, but doesn't change the fact that I still haven't seen the EQ gloves. And yes, before you ask, most of those blood shards were invested after 2.0.6 ;-)
Anyways, getting off-topic here. You're saying it's easy, I'm saying OP shouldn't rely on Kadala and think after a couple of hours he'll have 5pc Marauder (or Akkhan) for sure. It's up to him to draw his conclusion :-)
Yeah, you're right, rng is rng. I guess im just a bit miffed at how easy the game has gotten with all the increased drop rates that have been rolled out with every patch. But, thats the way the game is headed now with Ladders. But again off topic.
On topic. I have both the DH and Crusader well geared, and i enjoy them both. They are definitely different play styles just depends what you would enjoy more. If you want a more pet oriented, off hands styles then the sentry build is there. If you want a more aggressive, melee style then definitely crusader. I will say though that if you plan on doing speed group runs, the sentry is not optimal as the start up of the sentires will hold you back. In an optimized group, the elite is dead by the time i get my second sentry up.
DH is very automatic with sentry's the watch tv and eat while playing is very accurate Shotgunning for 60-100mil per beam (dmg depending on group comp) feels very rewarding although a bit rediculous lol so imo crusader if you want "fun"
and to anyone saying play what you want "fun" is different per person i can see DH being more fun if you have a good movie to watch and crusader being more fun if you dont
