What about some sort of reward for acheivments? There are so many in the game but all you get is bragging rights with friends on how many points you have. I think there should be some sort of in-game reward for completing them. Maybe on an acheivment compleation basis or on a points basis.
Example - say you completed "kill all these unique monster" acheivement the reward can be add 10% to one of the primary stats- Dex, Strength, Intel or Vitality. Your choice. Or when you reach a points milestone like 1000, 2000, 3000 and so on.
I think this would add so much to the adventuring part of the game.
I think the existing rewards for achievements are fine. You get specialized banner designs that gives "bragging rights" when you drop your banner down for all to see.
I absolutely love achievements. I have the top achievement point total in my guild of more than 100 members, that's how much I love achievements. People have hundreds of paragon levels more than me, but I don't care, because I have more achievement points.
..and I think this is a horrible, horrible idea. Giving real in-game rewards for achievements would transform them from being a optional amusement for those who dig that sort of thing, into the most hateful soul-destroying grind. 10% on a primary stat for the "kill all these unique monsters" achievement? I wouldn't wish that on anybody. That achievement is brutal and nobody should ever, ever feel that they should do it to progress their character. I haven't even finished it myself (2 uniques to go, I run their maps a couple of dozen times every now and then, but I certainly couldn't focus on it any longer than that).
Absolutely not. They ruined WoW adding achievements (Link achievement or no raid spot anyone here?, Well..you get that). Considering the idiocy and stupidity of some players they're capable to kick people with less than 1000 or 2000 achievement point etc. because they don't have the damage bonus,, so absolutely not.
Also now there are stupid players who bash and insult people with a lower Paragon Levels, once I got insulted and derided just because I had less Paragon Levels than those idiots, just figure what happens if also specific achievements will give boosted damage and or whatever else. "Link stupid useless achievement" here too, NO THANKS.
I think Blizz could just add some nice transmogs to the achievement system. They're still optional but give more appeal to them.
This is as far as I'd want it to go, and would be a nice incentive to those so inclined. maybe a nice transmog for the Gold acheivement, you know,a "gold" Goldskin transmog with a little shine to it. Things like that. Cosmetic, bragging rights things that only change up appearance and don't mess with the mechanics at all.
Achievements have never given players game breaking or even altering bonuses. Even since they first appeared in games. They are just meant to be mini challenges and grinds for the players who want to complete everything a game has to offer. Beyond mini pets or transmits there should never be stat altering bonuses from achievements in any game.
LAME - That is what the achievement system is. Ohh, I get a few points and a banner shape. Wow, that the real spirit of an ADVENTURE game. Adding some sort of in-game reward for achievements would help this game live up to it's so-called Adventure genre. Why even take the time to put an achievement system in the game if it doesn't give any in-game bonus. I'm not saying all achievements need a reward but some of the harder achievements should have an in-game reward. It wouldn't hurt the game and make players actually pay more attention to the achievement system. Right now the only time I ever bring it up is when I'm notified that I've achieved one. Please Blizzard, think about adding some sort of in-game reward for at least the harder achievements. I'd love to grind through rifts, bounties and story mode to achieve and hard earned achievement if it makes my efforts worthwhile other than some stupid banner shape or sigils.
