I've read in a thread, which cannot find atm, that multiboxing different char types (eg. 1 wiz, 2 dh, 1 wd) is illegal because of the advantages it gives though buffs. Now this i can understand, but would it be legal to have 3 wiz standing in town, while using a dh with danettas set to complete bounties fast, and then cash in the rewards? This way, they wouldt bennefit from each other, and it would only be one char and one set of skills/abilities that would be used.
As far as I'm aware multi-boxing at all isn't against the ToS. As long as each keypress does ONE thing your fine. It's when automation gets involved that they have a problem.
Your fine to multi-box any class or class's, if you own all 2-4 CD-keys, and each character responds only once per keystroke , your free to multi-box till your eyes bleed. :-)
Automating it beyond replicating your keystrokes to each individual client is very much not allowed.
For example. You have 4 wizards. On the "main" screen you right click for ... ummm Arcane Orb. You can't have a wizard on one of the other screens where when you right-click it also holds it down to channel RoF. Right-click in one game has to be right-click in all four games, etc. Beyond that moves into bannable territory.
If you are familiar with their stance on multiboxing in WoW, it's basically the same thing.
There are plenty of Multiboxing blue posts/GM answers etc. Multiboxing is 100% allowed and the character setup does not matter. As long as your controlling the character 100% and theres no "AUTOMATION" then you are fine. Me, Inigomontoya, and many others have been Multiboxing/streaming etc since day 1 of Diablo and have never once gotten any bans etc for it. Inigo even had blizzard come to the house to record him playing, not to mention blizzard employee's themselves multibox but of course you wont hear them say that to the community nor am I going to name names either
Too many people confuse automation and multiboxing as well as botting/macros etc, you just need to understand the line's in the dirt of them all.
Any other questions feel free to stop by Twitch in Streamerhouse, Datmodz, My channel, or most of the others, I've Modded most of them since forever now so you'll see me in a lot of them 24/7.
