Kadala should have an expanded inventory of items that you could buy - i.e. plans. Plans that you could either straight up buy with blood shards (obviously a large amount of shards) or going back to buying a Large Cache as they had during the Beta that will drop random loot and has a higher chance to drop a plan.
Seems to be a good addition to the blood shards usage and lets folks take advantage of doing some lego crafting. I'd save up 500 shards to buy a cache if it gave me a chance for a plan. Beats filling my inventory space with chest pieces with no legos, over and over and over and over.....................
I think adding more things to spend shards on could be a good idea. I like the idea of being able to buy a cache; it's just more satisfying to open than gambling something. I also liked the suggestion to add legendary crafting materials to Kadala that could be bought for shards. They could even keep it random and have the option to gamble a random crafting material with the opportunity to get a legendary one. I think it'd be cool if you could gamble gems with a chance to get one of the higher quality ones.
while it would be extremely easy to read your post and say something along the lines of:
"oh that would not work because something something set items blah blah to plentiful........."
it would be a stupid reply. Any post, like yours above, in my opinion is awesome and should, alongside the countless other similar posts, fuel the fire of intrigue. Sadly they never get the chance. And its due to players and developers and forum posters all extinguishing these fires and saying that they do so for the good of the game and in the name of proper and reputable game design.
They smash peoples Ideas on the rocks. or just leave them to die. just because they can pick something about the idea that they don't like or might not pan out....and that's the end of hope.
Instead, and we can use Kadala as an example, We get one fat bitch drawn onto the landscape, with 1 window of items with just a handful of item types to choose from all of which will be a mix of a seemingly small list of properties.....using a boiled down pool of statistics....and every one just leaps out the window with 40 bucks in their teeth begging for it....
so please id love to hear more about what you think and what Ideas you can come up with.
Could we also increase the cap please? That would be wonderful
I don't think you're meant to hoard them though, why would you want to have 500+?
Some people like to build up a whole bunch of something (i.e. caches, blood shards) and then use them all at once so they are pretty much guaranteed to get something good. It doesn't really make a difference one way or the other... I don't see any reason why they needed to put in a cap at all.

I'm not trying to hoardthem, don't think I am, but for starters a lot of times I hit the cap - don't realize it and then I have to rush to salvage all my items in my inventory and then quickly spend my bloodshards, and quickly salvage the bad items I got. This has happened to me plenty of times. This almost reminds me of having to click craft each time you wanted to craft a better gem. It's just annoying and feels like a chore. Half the time I can't even enjoy the process of gambling. I want to to do it when I want to do it. Not when I reach a small cap of 500. Why have caps when most things don't anyway? (Gold, gems, mats)

So that you can't build up 100 million blood shards and spend them AFTER a patch. If you don't think that's an issue the BC badge of justice implementation would like to say "hello" to you.
EDIT
On-topic, I'm sure Blizzard has a list of things that they could use blood shards for. I'd personally like to see potions added. Buy 10 potions for 50 blood shards with a chance for a legendary potion.
