Somebody locked this topic in Diablo3 forum, but I thought there are some great points/suggestions. Below is a copy of what was said.
It seams like is D3 creative team of Blizzard is a bit struggling so here are some ideas. Even that I doubt any of them will get implemented, at least not any time soon, but let see where this might take. First of all I am getting to wonder who are the game is being made for? creators themselves or customers? It seams like post we don't want you to play like this becoming a bit too popular. Well if I bought a game why I can't play the way I like it? If I enjoy going the same route through the game with same build, why not let us? It looks like every time players find good builds it gets nerft, or removed all together. Perfect example barb WW build I can see why you nerft wrath of berserker rune, but what was a point of removing fury generation. WW for barb was a signature move since I can remember, why kill it? Same could be said about some other builds. Instead of killing them, why don't you rather work on improving other skills, so it would make sense to use them; however, it seams that blizzard team rather go the easy way instead of being creative. It's like us buying a car for cash and then telling us later you can only drive between 4-9am and no highways, makes no sense. Anyways, let me try to suggest you few things that might just make this game a bit more fun to play.
1. Gems in ROS don't make much sense in term of cost associated with it, but more importantly do we really need that many different levels of gems, what purpose does it serves? At the same time gem crafting don't feel as important as before. So why not give few other abilities. Let Jeweler add one additional socket to any item. Thus, with the re-roll from mystic an item like manticore could have a total of 4 sockets. Continuing forward, if you still want to keel all the gems, allow creation of special gem by using 3 of all the kinds to create a gem that would open a special portal, which i will discuss later, but for that cost of combining higher level gems needs to be lowered.
2. I like idea of loot 2.0; however, you guys need some work on 2HD weapons, compared to 1HD they feel really week. Moreover, since better rares and legendaries dropping more often, which is a good thing from one side, but from the other they might not give as WOW factor as they did in D2. You could get rid of white items, since they seams to be trash anyways, and introduce a higher level then legendary, let say will name it epic for now. To add that WOW factor it's not that they have a low drop rate, but some events must occur in order for a smart drop and those items to even roll. Let say you kill x number of monsters in one string every 50th monster you kill will give you a chance of that item to drop. Example, you kill total of 180 enemies without stopping the first possible drop comes on 50th with a 3% chance, then second on 100th kill with 6% chance, 150th with 12% and so forth. Another option a random spawning small cemetery where you would have to guess and click correctly on 3 out of 6 graves, no matter the order, but clicking wrong on at least one of them will make this spawn useless, in return if you get it right a portal comes up, where at the end of a new dungeon you fight a boss that have 10% chance to drop new class of item. And a third option could be using new gem combined using all other gems that was discussed in part 1, which you use to put in a slot of random generating obelisk. After activating it would bring 3 portals, but only one of them would leave the correct path and if you chose wrong, better look for the new obelisk and get a new gem. However, to make this portal interesting make it to lead to the old D2 areas like jungle, where at the and you fight one of the old bosses from D2 game, once again it would have 10% chance of dropping an item. Now to make new items really unique lets move to part 3.
3. New items: The higher then legendary items not necessary needs to have higher gps, but other more stats than any other item roll, let say 8 slots minimum, 2 of those slots - one random roll from a poll of prefixes that legendaries get in ROS, and one unique just for that particular item. Examples, a ring that among other things would a low any character to double wield 2HD weapon, a belt - with unique property if your life drops below 10% it will randomly summons one of your other characters you created to fight a long with you for one minute with 5 minute cool down, and you could control that characters skill by SHIFT+1,2,3,4... if it's too hard to code PC to you those skills. This would also encourage players to have more than one strong character. A shoulder armor, that would let you to choose one active skill from any other character in game to use at all times, so let say a DH could use call of ancients... A boots that would let you pick one additional passive skill, so now you could use 4 instead of 3. A weapon that on attack gives you 3% chance to generate random shrine affect that could stack up to 3 shrines... and so forth. These items would be not just game changers, but build changers for sure, and interesting to hunt for, but most importantly gives this WOW effect if you get a drop.
4. All these new and obelisks and cemetery spawn, should appear in story mode only. You made it adventure mode good enough, where there is no longer a point to play story mode in ROS. And guess what? Unless you change that, I can already see a neft coming on adventure mode in the future. To get story mode even more interesting let crypt always spawn in different places in different acts, like the one from field of misery today, its probably best run you can do in this game the way it sits.
5. Everyone asking for a ladder. Why not make simple competition and at same time encourage player to play. Count how many enemies each player killed in each month, elites can count as 30 normal kills. At the end of a month 3 players gets rewarded with gold. 1 place 40mil, second 20, third 10. At the end of December, it would also award top 3 players for the total year kills, so you can get award in gold if you among 3 for that month, and award in special legendary if you are a among top 3 for the year. The legendary could be a pick by a player. Before award received, blizzard could check the player to make sure it's not bot.
6. Can we please make follower much stronger. It would be nice if we could put them all armors, but let say you don't want to allow this, let the player character, share his stats with the follower then, to boost it that way. Let say if I am running Bard and I have 500 intelligence and 2000 vitally, allow let say enchantress use that, including my crit hit chance, crit hit damage, speed, life regeneration...
Forgot to mention, for the endgame, in my opinion hellfire ring was towards the right direction, but its not even close with execution. Thus, you might try to create a crown, for that you will need an items that have a very low drop chance from all big and mini bosses from all the acts under highest difficulty levels, once all the items collected you may use it in randomly generated are only to get a pathway to fight all main bosses from all Diablo game at the same time. If you get killed you have ti find that random area again, and start the fight again. This has to be made challenging. If you win, an angel descends and hands you the crown with truly unique properties, so if you finally get it you know you actually achieved something, and can now show your crown to others.
