I know this has been discussed somewhat, rings and ammys can roll lvl 63 stats in 1.05, but what exactly will that do to their theoretical maximum values? Specifically, will MF on ammys roll to 50%? What about crit chance/dmg? 10%/75%? I'm looking for answers from people that have played the PTR extensively. What have you found? I would like to buy a ammy for MF purposes, but if I can get more MF or better value post patch, then I will wait. Thanks!
yes it will have higher max MF so jewelry is really not smart to buy before patch, atleast the more expensive ones, crit will go up to 10% and crit dmg up to 100%
1.05 probably will destroy most of the current top jewery with out a doubt
Wat?
It won't "destroy" in the sense of making them useless, it will only remove their "top notch" stats with the possiblity of better affixes rolling. Good trifectas will probably still be worth hundreds of millions (as they still are recently and I was hoping for a big price drop :P).
Yea that comment is ridiculous, in fact all of the complaints about prices falling drastically are. The current best gear rolls in the game, are still going to pretty darn good, and still semi rare. I expect a drop of maybe max 25% in price in the first few weeks to months. By the time a real expansion hits with new gear, it might have dropped 50% but you should have expected a price drop by that time anyway just due to the fact that gear always will drop, so the market will continue to flood.
Perhaps a lesson in statistics is necessary for those of you that don't think prices will drop drastically?
4.5% crit chance is top now on rings and is an outlier. If rings then suddenly roll to 10% those 4.5% rings become way less valuable. esp with the rings now rolling stats based to the monster level instead of the random drop level. If every ring you drop rolls ilvl 63 stats now instead of the 20% or whatever chance you had a ring to be lvl 63 before, you're going to have waaaay more 63 lvl affix rings rolling around (~80% more). A 4.5% ring was valuable before because it was the max value and now it's going to be less that even half of that high value... i mean seriously, how can that not be a huge reduction in price? Compare the difference in price between two trifecta rings, both with high crit dmg and high attack speed... the one with 4.5% crit chance compared to 2.5% crit chance... the difference is Millions and Millions.

Before you give a lesson in statistics, check your understanding of the numbers. The details aren't in the patch notes for 100% verification but I'm pretty sure from all the reading I've done that rings will go from current 4.5 max to 6.0 max crit. It's amulets that are going from 8.5 to 10 crit. It's not as big a jump as you are stating and thus not as big a decrease in price either.

but you also have to consider that all jewelry will be rolling i63 enchants now.
whereas previously maybe only 25% of all jewelry dropped was i62
and the rest was i61 or lower.
Prices should drop quite drastically. Even the prices between a ring with 4% CC and 4.5% CC right now are quite far apart in price. It will all depend on how long it takes for the improved items to flood the AH, but the prices WILL drop drastically.
I'm not saying I'd buy any jewelry today and it likely makes sense to wait until 1.0.5. That said, expecting a 50%+ drop in prices just because the patch hit is unreasonable. It will take awhile for new max rolls to put downward pressure on the old max rolls -- and the old max rolls will still be quite good. Yes, prices will come down, no it won't be overnight.

^ this. Also, even if the numbers are off (6% compared to 4.5%) you're still talking about almost a 35% increase, so compare the prices of 4.5% rings to 3% rings. There's still millions of gold in price differences.
Just a quick check of the GAH with rings that have 8% Attack Speed and 30% Crit Damage, a 3% Crit chance ring starts at buyout 20M whereas 4.5% starts at 220M That's a lot more than the 25% you expect.
It's going to be insane how much more common(and thus, cheaper) good jewelry will be after the patch. Not only was all the old jewelry ilvl62, but amulets and rings are the only slots that have no base benefit of ilvl. So literally every piece of jewelry will be like a real ilvl63 drop, unlike weapons/gear that will have lower damage/armor if they're not ilvl63.

I think current rings/ammys will drop 50% after about 2 weeks from the patch.. in fact, it already has dropped by about 50% if you've been paying attention to the market. I can't even get rid of my ammy/ring that was worth 5-8M before the patch notes hit. The supply is increasing 5x and on top of that, the affix range ceiling is changing. If you honestly don't think they will drop by at least 50% then you are crazy.
I can see the argument for other slots since only the supply is increasing (and even in that case, you'll give up armor for some of those upgrades so it's hard to compare) but for jewelry... prices are going to drop.... a lot. Well rolled new affixes though? Those will be VERY expensive to start.
Of course they will drop that much eventually -- however 6.0% crit rings with impeccable stats aren't just going to appear in mass quantity day 1. You look today at a mature market for 4.5 versus 3.0 crit rings -- there's alot of 4.5 to choose from. I just think it will take awhile for there to be enough supply of well-rolled 6.0% rings to push the current well-rolled 4.5% rings down 50%. Maybe not -- maybe people sit on the sidelines waiting for good 6% to appear and sellers start dropping prices just to sell.
I don't think we disagree they will drop 50% -- I guess we just disagree on how quickly the supply of 6.0% will cause them to drop -- I see it taking awhile longer than you do. Either way, my behavior is to sit and wait for a bit -- I'll likely fill my second ring with Hellfire and then wait and see how much a crit rolled Zuni comes down.
Thanks! Good to know.
