I noticed there was a topic about this earlier here on the forums but it got deleted, which made me wonder, are gear/equipment switchers illegal / bannable by blizzard ?
if i recall correctly, there were addons that did the same exact feature for wow, and they werent banned, in fact, later blizzard incorporated the same feature into their own default UI for the game in a patch.
any thoughts about the topic ? it seems like a gear switcher with one button to easily switch gear for the kill for more mf would be the most practical solution as opening the inventory window and spam clicking stuff to equip it usually ends in being distracted and dead.
also, please don't post any links to any gear switching software, i don't want this thread to get locked, this is mostly for discussion purposes only
You can switch gear in WoW using in-game macros (out of combat for gear, in combat for weapons). Diablo doesn't have this option and must be done via other methods that appear to not be approved by Blizzard.
I personally don't like switching to MF gear in the middle of fighting, and leave it to RNG with 5 stacks of NV, so I don't have any interest for this feature to ever be legitimately added, but it wouldn't hurt for those that do.
In WoW you can make your own custom chain of commands that you can put as a single key. That's a Macro. WoW is built around players having the freedom of making it easier for themselves. It's how the game is intended to be played.
In Diablo there are restrictions and it's against the rules to use 3rd party programs that either change the game's files or handle things the player should be handling himself. No outside help is permitted. It's how the game is intended to be played.
As that's a rule in Diablo 3 topics with illegal content will also be removed from Dfans.
Does anyone know if DarkD3 is bannable? I don't use it myself but I've always been curious to know whether or not it is. Never seen a topic where someone got banned from using it yet but idk for sure. Just curious.
hmm, this is quite lame , as being a melee char usually means opening up inventory screen and swapping gear pieces with less survivability = instant death since u are standing mostly in the middle of stuff and not like ranged characters have some safe distance ...
i wish blizz could add this as a built in option to solve this issue =/

No clue why we don't just have 2 sets of gear with a button between each, like Diablo 2. I mean we already had the answer. Seriously this solves all. Don't think Blizzard, just do it.
That doesn't solve anything really. I don't want to see a button that just swaps my gear out. I'd like for people to actually value MF as a stat on their main gear and not just have it on some crappy MF set they have to finish a boss off.
The faster they implement the MF changes the better so we can all get used to it and it can settle in.

That is FAR too logical! That kind of nonsense is not tolerated around here. I'd expect you to know that being a mod and all man!

Nope, you wont.
Yeah Jay Wilson specifically commented around release that it was okay to use in it's current state. So as long as they didn't change it to do something shifty then it should be fine.
TOS against mods is so we can ban cheaters. I agree DarkD3 is not a cheat...yet. As long as it is not a cheat, no ban is likely.

We have enough bloody stats to think about as it is, without having to worry about magic find and gold find on top lol
As you all know, we monks have to make sure I have good levels of the following, just to survive:
- Dexterity
- Life on Hit
- All Resist
- A single Resist (eg. poison)
- Attack Speed
- Critical Hit Chance
- Critical Hit Damage
- Armour level
- Vitality
I feel your pain, I play a monk too, but the way it feels now... why not just make NV stronger and get rid of MF gear? I mean nearly anyone can get a full set of MF gear, it seems kinda pointless if it doesn't have to be at least somewhat good. Right now MF is a terrible stat that I don't want on my gear at all.
they should just increase the MF stat by 50% put in a cap of say 200 MF from gear and 275 with 5 stacks and 300% with 5 stacks and shrine. but i guess that would make MF on gear to mandotory.

I've built a perfect MF suit. 303 base MF with my templar out as a DH. Almost 50k damage, over 30k hp, 300-400 AR. An act 3 run consisting of stonefort, cydaea and azzie takes ~30 minutes and nets ~30 rares. No swapping needed. I win =)
