So, I guess I should have known better, but I really was looking forward to buying and selling commodities on the RMAH. The concept looked so good, what possibly could go wrong?
So, I bought every exquisite essence I could get my hands on, farmed hours for even more. As soon as the AH went live this morning, I went right to the RMAH and put my essences up for sale. I entered the item, put in the amount I wanted to sell, then tried to set my price for them.

Oh well, at least I can resell the essences on the gold auction house. Hell, I may even make a bit of a profit.
So, high-end gems, and maybe Fiery Brimstones post-1.1 (when the crafted Legendaries and sets get buffed), will be sold for RM, but not bulk commodities.

I can live with that.
I'm not sure I can live with it. Bulk commodities are bulk for a reason, they are the ones that are used and, more importantly, sold more than the other items. The high end market just doesn't have the movement the low end market has. Besides, all of this is a moot point if we could sell bulk commodities for lower than a cent a unit.
You never know, someone might buy it. I farmed some gems hoping to get a few bucks on by bnet balance.
e: really bliz should make it so that the stack meets the $1 transaction fee. So as long as you're selling enough of the commodity to make more than a dollar off the stack they should allow it. Or have a percentage based fee.

Just to inform you, unless they changed it very recently, commodities sell with a 15% fee and not a $1 fee. Only equipment sells for a $1 fee. Then there's the additional 15% fee to paypal if you cash out.

However this is correct. When buying any commodities you need to buy atleast 1 dollar of them. So you would have to put up 1 dollar worth of commodities so someone can get the minimum amount from you.
On the other hand, this also means that Gold will be at the same $0.25 per 100k minimum requirement...which is both going to make selling gold a bit more lucrative to sell than if some random schmuck decided to dump 100 million at 0.01 per 100k.

It also means that the minimum sell value for gold will be more than double the current market value. And you'll run into the same problem on gold release as you do with low end commodities at the moment- everyone lists theirs at the minimum and the little quantity that gets bought is basically pot luck to be yours. If it goes by "longest auction" you can bet there will be a race to log on and list after every maintenance- because the first one will have a 6 hour or so window to be a priority sale the next day.
They need to scrap the entire commodity system and start over. F-
(The 28% cash out fee from commodities means they get over $10 for every $37 gem sold right now, so I guess they're going for margins rather than quantity.)
