I've been playing for about 400hours more or less in the NA servers, and i surely know about the first wave of players who exploited their way into inferno with bugged skills from DH and Wiz, and their deals in D2JSP~
And i dont have skills to flip the AH,playing the business man, buying and selling all the time (to be honest, i have some problems selling items there, what leads me to underprice things and still thus my loot refuse to sell)
Im sitting at 21m , with my Monk having 14k dps, 31k HP, 768 resists and 400 loh, farming acts I and II waiting for my first big item to put me between the high end geared players. Dropped a few good rings and ammy's and even a nice helm lv 63~ all of them took me to the money i have now
**Atm i've dropped a black thorne pants just to discover they dont have resists, mine is good double roll strenght and int, nice MF, dmg reduction, dex and vit, tried to price it 1,8m in AH, lower than the lowest price i found on similar ones, if anyone wanna check the stats on it and buy ^.^~**
When i have free time, i watch streamers, Zrave, Newtiunplugged, Skrigg, amazing guys who share a lot of knowledge and do amazing things live like " pimp my barb/monk"
I realized at some point that to be able to farm like these guys do, with their 60k+ dps and tons of HP and resist i have to spend at least 150Million cause thats what they claim to have spent in their chars~
But how am i supposed to reach this status, i know there are 120k dps DH's here, and sweet geared monks and barbs, and i know some of you didnt exploit, dont flip AH(maybe sometimes). I'd like to know how exacly things came to you , is it a matter of time? do i have to keep playing and wait for my lucky strike to get me to the top gear? someday i will drop my first 1000 dps xbow with loh crit and socket in Act 1 that i can sell for 200million and then say thanks to the goddess and spec my monk? or am i lacking something that i still havent realized ?
thank you for reading guys, sorry if it is a poor written Wall of text, english is not my main language
Sitting on gold is never a good idea- too much is coming into the economy and too little is going out. That being said, forcing yourself to spend it immediately is equally bad. Those streamers you mention- 150m probably doesn't even cover their weapon these days due to the flood of gold into the economy and the continued rarity (even more so with the IAS nerf to weapon dps).
So how do you make money without setting out to flip items all day? Just look for upgrades whenever you log on/before you log off. Do it between every run. Search pretty much every slot for things you yourself want. This will give you an idea of prices. Once in a while, you'll see an item that's very underpriced/better than you could expect to afford but within your budget. Jump on it. Sell your old item.
If everything you buy is both an upgrade and underpriced, you can never go wrong and you will always be increasing wealth. I don't really play any more, but since I had sold one of my barb's weapons on the RMAH I poked around to see how prices were going on the GAH. Had about 8m at the time, and just set the max buyout for that. Came across a 1day 12 hour item that was leagues above the rest of the comparable items... for 3m. Had crit damage and an open but unfilled socket. So I sent it to my stash, logged in, put in a gem so it'd go over 100% crit and relisted it. Sold overnight for 24m (~20m after the 15% fee).
I didn't log on to "flip items" or play the auction house. I was just seeing if I could get an upgrade with my current change. If I still played, I probably would have used the weapon until I had more gold and could find a better one- knowing that the value would only go up over time. I had the same experience when I was working on my DH- I had tried several different weapon types to see what I liked the feel of by buying underpriced weapons of each type. Ended up selling all the ones I didn't use for 1.5-2x the price within two weeks.
i'm an avid watcher of "pimp my class" streams, experienced streamers offer help to viewers, one of them stacks a certain ammount of gold and then the streamer will build the viewer's toon from the scratch with that ammount of gold grabbing the best items he can find for the lowest ammount of price~
streamer often inputs delay to the stream so he wont get sniped~
i was basing myself in that~
planning to spend 200m and get a sweet built monk or a playable one in inferno at least
Yea that's fine if you have 200m. But you don't. If you try to "pimp" every slot with 20m, you're going to be spending 500k per slot. And 500k items are at that price because they are common. Common items depreciate.
So you need to invest the 20m in an item that's worth 50+. Or in several 3-4m items worth 10+. Those are the items that hold or appreciate.
Don't hold out hope that you'll find a 200m item. With 477 hours played the highest ticket item I ever found was 30m- and that onyl happened once. But I never sat on gold and always increased my wealth every day.
it will take me time to get enough skills with gold making in diablo 3, but if i have an objective i will have to practice it so i can reach my goals~
its the first time i deal with a game that has an auction house so i think this is why i am struggling~ i'm being an old school gamer dealing with a new mechanic that wasnt around untill this new gen
