Since the servers are down...here is a little tip from a noob for those who didn't know this.
Just like D2 (if I recall), your game will auto end in 30 seconds after you kill Diablo. You won't be able to return. So Make sure you have a little extra inventory space in your inventory when you go for you Diablo kill!
I had my inventory maxed out and about 3 rares and 3 blues dropped. Of course I was fumbling around my inventory and was unable to pick up a rare belt drop before the game booted me!
D2 was not like this, but thanks for the tip I will make sure to have space. Even though the items are small and your inventory space is huge I did find myself running out of space because I wanted craft all the magic items.

I believe it changed when LoD came out since that added a new act.
