I have heard the complaint about this before, you know -- "when you damage something it flashes white, and it's annoying."
Well, after playing the beta, and being in a group with 3 WDs that do tiny bits of damage per hit, I noticed how annoying it was. It's not so noticeable when playing alone, but in a group it becomes very apparent.
It's sad that so much hard work was put into developing character models (specifically boss models), and knowing that you can barely see the graphics on the bosses because of the constant white flashing. Really ruins the aesthetic in my eyes. Wish I could toggle it on/off!

I could see how it would be annoying in that case, but it's funny because I actually have never noticed it before until I read this... lol. But I've always been playing solo, too.
