Something about the items in diablo 3 feel very odd in game. When I loot an item and equip/put in inventory I dont hear, for example, the sound a shield makes when it hits the floor(that sound of metal). The items just feel like pages out of a book when I move them around my character sheet.
I know some people might think this is a silly opinion but I really feel they need to bring back item sounds when you move them around your inventory(other then the book page turning sound currently)
Interestingly, they're re-using some of the sound clips from d2 to pay homage to it. I hadn't noticed a problem with this yet, but I also hadn't been paying attention. Might replay again tonight and respond then.

Anyone else agree?
Maybe I'm missing your question. When I move items around, they make their corresponding sound. A two handed sword sounds heavy when I drop it to the ground, and the same sounds occurs when I move it from slot to slot in my backpack, and when I equip it.
I really like the sound of an Axe dropping in Diablo 1. It's one of those small, but instantly recognizable and defining sounds I've heard in a game. It may seem strange but I can recreate it perfectly in my mind whenever I think about it, like how you can sing a song perfectly.
i suppose it's one of those things that will be better in retail than in beta, they have mentioned that the build they are running in shop is not the same as what's in beta, so maybe that's part of it. Blizzard usually has pretty good sound design, and they clearly are making an effort to make the sound great (they bothered to bring back Matt Uelmen for the music).

Strange, I'm getting all the different sounds when I move items around in my inventory. The large sharp weapons make a loud clang, while the smaller daggers are a higher pitched metal sound. Gloves sound like leather hitting leather, etc. This is all within the inventory, unless I'm "picking up" (clicking) an item that I have equipped, and placing it directly down where it was already equipped. Otherwise, all the sounds are playing for me.
I know what you mean, but I don't think 'tangible,' is the right word. What kinds of sounds, or lack there of are there in the beta? I haven't touched it in a while - I didn't even notice.

"The Unchosen" Pain of Admirance Sigil (For those without -Feat of Strength-):
No op has a point. There was a feeling of power when you move around (for instance) a unique body armor or shield or ring etc. I nearly crapped my pants when I found some of the more rare unique items and moved them around in my inventory I was so happy and to hear that lound clunk/cling/clang/swwfft depending on the type of item just made it all that much better. I haven't payed much attention to this in the beta as of yet, but I'll definitely be keeping an eye out now.
If you're worried about the sound... well they'll add it.
I disagree overall because when you get to later stages of the game and pick up some of the "known" valuable items... you will feel very attached due to the direct connection between the in game value and real money via the AH.
in beta, everything you do with the items and each item make different noises when you shuffle them around in inventory or equip and unequip...
Im currently in beta right this moment equipping a belt and glove and dagger and 2h sword and they all make a sound, DIFFERENT type of sounds depending on the item. Dagger makes a small clank sound while a 2h equipped makes a loud clank like it's heavy.

Around the 5:52 mark, a shield will drop. It might as well be straight from D2, that's how beautiful that sound was.
P.S. I've only started noticing it now in beta videos, which leads me to believe that a lot of the sounds aren't finished yet.

I received TWO beta keys. Eat it and like it.
*they get the full game and it'll be the exact same*
*happens with so many things in any beta i've seen*.
So what about we stop using that excuse to try and end a discussion prematurely, uh?
Items just feel a lot worse in this game in general. I totally get the "tangible" feeling he's talking about. They just don't feel the same at all.

Oh my god, thank you for posting this. This is hilarious. STUPIDFY! That was great, thank you!
